Chapter 348 You Can’t Protect Me

Chapter 348 You Can’t Protect Me

Singapore.

As night fell, Daniela did what she always did—found a bar and threw herself into the noise and excitement.

Hiding herself in the crowd was her favorite thing to do.

The liveliness belonged to others, but watching from a distance, she could still find pleasure in it.

She had a regular spot in this bar, at the very corner of the counter. Sitting there, she could observe every part of the bar.

She would order a drink and sip it slowly, letting her tense nerves gradually relax in the noisy music.

Of course, due to the special nature of her work, she never completely let her guard down.

This slight release of tension while staying alert brought her a special kind of joy.

Tonight, as usual, she ordered a whiskey on the rocks and sat in her familiar spot, enjoying her pleasure.

The bar door swung open, and someone walked in. The man was tall and handsome, walking straight toward her.

"Daniela, let's talk."

Oliver stood beside Daniela, a hint of anxiety in his eyes.

Daniela slowly lifted her head and glanced at Oliver casually. "Mr. Oliver, we have nothing to talk about."

She looked away, focusing on something else.

Oliver simply pulled up a chair and sat down next to Daniela. "I've been looking for you. I really like you."

Daniela acted as if she'd heard a joke. She grabbed a tattooed guy nearby and laughed loudly. "He says he likes me. Can you believe that?"

She laughed wildly and freely.

Daniela was a regular here, and many people knew her.

She was cool, seemed careless, but actually had principles.

The tattooed guy glanced at Oliver. He looked refined and well-mannered, really didn't match Daniela at all.

"Get lost!"

The tattooed guy gave Oliver the middle finger, his eyes full of contempt.

Right in front of Oliver, he leaned close to Daniela and kissed the top of her head.

For some reason, Oliver's sensitive nerves exploded at that moment.

"Bastard!"

He roared and swung his fist at the tattooed guy.

However, his fist didn't land on the tattooed man. It was quickly caught and gripped tight.

"What? Want to fight?"

The tattooed guy said with disdain.

His grip was strong, and Oliver couldn't handle it at all.

But in front of the woman he liked, he couldn't back down.

"Apologize! Apologize to her!"

He yelled at the tattooed guy.

Before he finished speaking, the tattooed guy swung his fist at Oliver.

That punch made Oliver see stars.

Meanwhile, Daniela sat nearby, still in the same position, slowly sipping her drink, acting like it had nothing to do with her.

Oliver fell to the ground. He struggled to get up, pointing at the tattooed guy. "Apologize to her!"

The tattooed guy got angry. "Fuck, looks like I need to teach you a lesson."

He grabbed Oliver by the collar, and his clenched fist started pounding into Oliver's chest.

Oliver wasn't good at fighting. The other guy was clearly trained. He was no match and quickly lost.

However, when the tattooed guy let go and Oliver collapsed weakly on the ground, he still struggled to roar: "Apologize!"

"Damn it!" The tattooed guy flew into a rage and raised his foot to kick Oliver.

Suddenly, Daniela made her move.

With a sweeping leg kick, she struck the tattooed guy's shin directly.

"Enough!"

She didn't say much, and her voice wasn't loud, but that one word, neither light nor heavy, made the tattooed guy back off.

"He's not right for you."

The tattooed guy shook his head and said to Daniela.

Daniela said nothing, just walked toward Oliver.

"Can you get up?"

She asked with a frown, both hands in her pockets, not getting closer.

"I'm fine."

Oliver was stubborn. Daniela turned and walked outside.

The atmosphere in the bar suddenly felt a bit suffocating to her.

She just stood at the door waiting. After a while, Oliver finally stumbled out.

She glanced back at him. "If you can't win, don't act tough. He's my friend, he won't hurt me."

"You should be respected."

Oliver mumbled.

His handsome face had been beaten into a swollen mess by the tattooed guy. One eye was so swollen it was just a slit.

"Should be respected"—those words suddenly struck a chord in Daniela's heart.

She looked at Oliver deeply. At this moment, a different feeling actually welled up inside her.

But this feeling was strange, and she didn't have time to think about it.

"I'll take you to the hospital."

She strode toward the Jeep nearby, opened the door, and plopped down in the seat.

Oliver limped after her. His body hurt, but his heart was happy.

"Let me drive."

He said to Daniela.

His eyes, hidden behind the swollen skin, were bright.

"Taking care of you is my job."

He added.

Daniela's lips twitched into a cold smile. "I don't need anyone to take care of me. If you don't want to get in, go by yourself."

As she spoke, she was about to pull the door shut.

Oliver quickly grabbed it. "Please take me to the hospital."

His voice softened a bit.

On the way to the hospital, Oliver kept turning his head to look at Daniela, but she stared straight ahead without looking sideways.

"Keep staring and I'll throw you out."

Daniela said fiercely.

Oliver looked away, but his heart was happy.

When they arrived at the hospital and the car stopped, Daniela didn't get out. She said to Oliver: "Get out."

"You're not coming in with me?"

Oliver asked in confusion.

Daniela rolled her eyes. "Do you need someone with you to see a doctor? You think you're still a little kid?"

"Daniela, I really do like you. I hope you'll give me a chance."

Oliver declared his feelings again.

But Daniela held up her hand to stop him. "Oliver, what makes you think you're qualified to like me? You can't even protect yourself. What, do you want me to be your free bodyguard?"

She seemed to get angry. She got out of the car, yanked the door open, and forcibly pulled Oliver out of the car.

"Better not appear in front of me again."

She dropped that line, started the engine, and the car roared away.

Oliver stared in the direction Daniela left, but his eyes had light in them.

Just when Oliver had made up his mind to stay in Singapore and win Daniela over, something unexpected happened.

That night, Daniela left Singapore.

But Oliver had no idea.

His injuries were just superficial, and they healed in a few days.

When his wounds healed and he wanted to find Daniela, he discovered he couldn't find her anywhere.

Unable to find her, he started to panic and finally took the initiative to contact Zachary.

"You actually know to call me?"

Zachary didn't know what was going on and thought Oliver was calling about work.

But Oliver's voice was full of panic. "Daniela is gone."

Zachary's brow furrowed slightly. Daniela answered to him, so even if Daniela disappeared from public view, he had ways to contact her.

"What do you mean?"

He asked, pretending not to understand.

"Zach, please help me. I know you can definitely contact Daniela. Just tell me where she is, okay?"

Oliver was clever, but Zachary didn't grant his wish.

With that, he hung up the phone.

He refused to tell Oliver where Daniela was, so Oliver came up with another plan.
