Chapter 35 Chapter 0035
•AMARI•

“I want you to find Narra’s mother and bring her to the house. Make sure that she gets here alive, Finn.” Rafael hung up the call and paced in his home office, making another call.

I walked in and closed the door behind me.

I leaned toward him and wrapped my arms around his waist, and he didn’t even flinch as he lifted the phone to his ear.

“I want Doctor Xander to come to my house tomorrow morning. Tell him to be here before 10:00 in the morning. Yes, good.” He hung up the call before he slipped my hands from him and went to his desk.

“Is everything?” I cleared my throat and leaned toward him. “You were not in bed when I woke up this morning. And also, you never came to bed last night, Rafael. What’s going on?”

I was worried because I thought Rafael and I were getting somewhere. He brought me back to his house and was treating me like his woman again, and I feared losing that.

“Can I be left alone? I have things that need my attention, and I don’t want to be disturbed,” he replied as he opened his laptop and didn’t even look at me.

He was cold, which made me worried because I didn’t want us to go back to the place we were before he took me back.

“Are you seriously turning me down again because of her?” I snapped. “I thought she would be out of the house by now because she’s pregnant with another man’s child. Instead, you’re wasting your breath on her and avoiding me because of her.”

He looked up at me and frowned. “Narra is my wife, and she won’t bring another man’s child into my house. Or haven’t I made it clear to you she’s not going anywhere? Another thing,” he scoffed as he stood up from his chair and leaned toward me. “Shouldn’t you be returning home?”

“I thought I told you I’m moving in, and you didn’t fight it. Why the change of heart?” I folded my arms across my chest and looked at him.

I couldn’t believe he showed his care for the little pregnant witch. Worse, he dared to tell me he was married to her and that he wouldn’t let her have another man’s child in his house, which meant she was staying.

“You’re not moving in, Amari. I haven’t gotten over what you did to me, and I won’t let it go overnight. So, if you want us to work out our issues and be fine, I’d suggest you leave me be. Go home and rest.”

“You can’t send me away instead of her. She’s the one who should leave this place. I am your woman, Rafael!” I reminded him, stepping closer.

“Go home, Amari.”

I huffed before I turned around and left his office. I didn’t waste time but headed straight to the garden.

Narra was cutting the plants when I approached, looking as if she weren’t deliberately causing a drift between Rafael and me.

“Amari—”

“Stop right there,” I cut her off before she could finish her sentence. “How dare you lie to Rafael? Was it your plan to make me look untrustworthy to him?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking—”

“Stop!” I cut her off again. She was acting as if she were innocent, but I knew better. “I’m the one talking. What did you tell him?”

I knew Rafael had gone to see her the previous morning, and his mood changed when he came back.

“I told him about the father of my baby, whom he killed and burned in front of me. Isn’t that what you wanted when you told him I was pregnant and insisted over and over even though I told you I wasn’t pregnant?” She raised her voice at me, and I fought the urge to slap her in the face.

“Then why is he acting the way he’s acting? Were you sexually involved with him?” I leaned closer, trying to connect the dots, because her pregnancy seemed to be recent. “Are you pregnant with Rafael’s child?”

She looked shocked when I asked and was quiet for a moment. She placed her garden materials on the ground and scoffed.

“I don’t know what you want from me, Amari. Rafael is my husband, and we’ve spoken about my pregnancy, which shouldn’t be a concern to you. I may be under you right now, but I’m still his wife, and I hope you know what that means.”

I was infuriated when she answered me as if we were equals. She came behind me and thought she could answer me however she wanted because Rafael had made her his wife instead of me.

“How dare you!” I raised my hand to smite her when Rafael’s voice thundered behind me.

“Step away from my wife, Amari!”
