Chapter 34 Chapter 0034
•ANEIRA•
I was heading out of the room to go to work when I bumped into Rafael holding Sandra by her throat.
"Narra," Sandra muttered when she saw me, sobbing.
“Let her go, Rafael!” I snapped. “Let her go!”
“Who is the father of your baby?” he asked, and my stomach twisted.
‘Damn Amari.’ She was bent on ruining things for me and had convinced Rafael that I was pregnant. He probably believed it when she told him I ran to the bathroom to vomit.
If Rafael found out I was carrying his child, he wouldn’t let me go since I had proposed to bear him a child for my freedom, which he made clear he wouldn’t grant after he had killed my father.
So, I didn’t want to have his child when he would keep me in the house and never let me go.
“I told you and Amari that I’m not pregnant. What more do you want from me?” I shot back. “Sandra did nothing to you, so let her go.”
“I’m sorry, Narra,” Sandra chimed in. “I told him about the pregnancy test,” she confessed, and my heart sank. Shit.
“I’m not—”
Rafael leaned toward me, his eyes locked into mine as I slammed my back against the door and gasped.
“Then prove it,” he cut in. “I’m taking you to a doctor, and if you’re pregnant, she loses her job, and I’ll think about what to do with you. But if you don’t want me to do that, you will tell me the truth.”
Fuck it. That was not an option either.
“Fine,” I sneered as I pushed him off me. “Chris is the father of my baby. The one you killed in the fire and made me watch. I begged you to spare his life for my baby’s sake, and because of that, I will never forgive you.”
He leaned back and scoffed. He shook his head before he sent Sandra away. My heart raced because I couldn’t read him or know what he was thinking.
But I knew that whatever he was thinking wasn’t good. He was thinking of a way to punish me and remind me of who he was.
“You’re pregnant with your sister’s boyfriend’s child?” He asked, chuckling.
“Do you think I would’ve told you something was happening between Chris and me? You wanted him dead!” My voice cracked. “There’s nothing I could’ve done to save his life when all you wanted was to inflict me with more pain, as if I was the one who killed your parents!”
“Don’t you dare speak about my parents!” He leaned closer, his eyes blazing with anger. “Your father killed them and made Polly and me orphans. If your sister were alive, I would’ve made you both feel what it feels like seeing your parents being killed in front of you. What I’ve done to you is nothing compared to what your father put us through.”
He was so close that I could feel his breath on my skin, and his hand was roughly brushing against my arm. I felt electric waves radiating from his hand, almost rendering me breathless before him.
“Are you going to kill my child and me as you’ve killed their father?” I swallowed, ignoring the throbbing between my legs.
After everything Rafael had put me through, I didn’t know why I felt sorry for what my father did to them.
I imagined how different his life would’ve been if my father hadn’t killed his parents and turned him into an orphan.
He lifted my chin with his finger and leaned his face toward mine. “Get rid of it. You’re my wife, and you won’t have another man’s child in my house.”
“Over my dead body!” I pushed his hand off me. “This is my child inside my body, and the only person who will decide if they live or not is me.”
“Don’t test me, Narra.” He grabbed my chin and tightened his grip. “If you don’t remove the bastard from your belly, I will remove it myself, and it won’t be a pretty sight.”
I felt a cold shiver down my spine as he let go of my chin and left me outside my room.
My hand hovered over my stomach, and I wondered why it hurt so much when he commanded me to abort the pregnancy, though I had initially planned to get rid of it.
I was about to head inside the room when Sandra came down the stairs, her hair messed up, and her eyes still puffy from crying.
I wrapped my arms around her and wondered what had happened to her when Rafael brought her down.
“What happened to you?”
“Why did you tell him the baby belonged to Chris?” She whispered as she took my hand and opened the door.
She closed the door and leaned against it. “I thought you would tell him the truth, Narra. Haven’t you learned anything yet about Rafael?”
“Stop making Rafael look like this fearful god who has fiery eyes and punishes everyone who gets in his way,” I rolled my eyes and sat on the bed. “Don’t you remember I wanted to get rid of the pregnancy? So, Rafael will help me get rid of it. I won’t raise his child.”
“You can make a deal with him to let you go because of the baby, Narra. You saw how he was when he asked you about the pregnancy. He’s loathing the idea of another man getting you pregnant. This was supposed to be your chance to get even with him.”
“No, I won’t raise this baby, Sandra. I will let Rafael get rid of it. Himself. When it’s done, I will look him in the face and tell him he killed his own child. That will destroy him, knowing he had shed his own blood.”
