Chapter 85 I want More!
Chapter 85 I want More!
Rhea's POV
"Rhea!" Father calls in surprise as he hurries down the stairs to meet me, still in his sleeping robes.
"Father?" I smile in happiness to see him but he wears a worried expression.
"You shouldn't be here. Have you forgotten . . . that the Angel kings do not know you are my daughter? They will become suspicious of what we -"
"I had to see you." I say and toss him the pouch of jewelry. He opens it and
a huge smile spreads across his face. Upon seeing the glittering gold necklaces, diamond rings, and ruby brooches inside.
My father loves wealth above all things. That is the reason he has six beautiful wives and a literal army of concubines to produce beautiful daughters whom he marries off to powerful Alphas in exchange for immense wealth. That's also why he slept with my mother even though she was just a common slave, so that she could give him a beautiful child.
Unfortunately when I was growing up I turned out to look like any ordinary, plain girl. I was useless to my father's grand scheme. So when I was close to phasing, we secretly consulted the famous oracle, and instead of getting a wolf I got a beauty-eating monster. Everything the monster consumed reflected directly into my own human body. It didn't take long for me to become as beautiful as a goddess and all the mighty Alphas from neighboring packs were begging my father to marry me. But then, a much bigger opportunity arose. The glorious Angel Kings had come to buy both my mother and me out of servitude to please my sister. That when we hunched a plan that I would be living inside the massive royal palace while stealing gold, jewels, and any other valuable things for him.
But that all changed the moment I laid eyes on the beautiful Kings. Their sheer beauty had me shamelessly drooling, even when I knew they were my sister's mates. I no longer cared about my agreement with my father or my reputation as long as my eyes kept staring at their perfection everyday.
"I have never been prouder of you, dear."
father says his fingers fishing out the jewels.
"Proud enough to listen to my new plan? One that will benefit us more." I question and he raises his eyebrow.
"I want to be the Angel King's queen, I must confess that I have fallen in love with them and I want to be the one they'll marry instead of my sister." I state.
Father stares at me for a long, stunned moment, entirely astounded by my words. Then, he let out a scoff.
"A wife and Queen? To the Angel Kings?" he shakes his head. "Are you mad? The Angel Kings already have your sister, and they love her very much from the last time I was there. Not to mention, she was everything a man could ever want, beautiful, wise, upright and above all good virtues you can name and she's the heir to the crown of Avrion."
He continues to list all the things I am not and have no hope of ever being. I mean the only thing I could beat my sister at is beauty and that is if I keep looking for more beautiful parts to consume.
"Nothing is unbreakable, you just have to try hard enough." I counter.
"You'll be risking death. You remember princess Cassandra? She tried the same." Father cautions sounding irritated.
"So be it then." I snap. "If I am risking death, if I am choosing wrong, I don't care at all. They are all I want, every piece of them, whatever it will cost, they seem more than worth it."
It may sound like madness to plan to steal my sister's mate's, but like I said, I no longer give a shit. My father is glaring at me with a profoundly irritated face, yet all I am thinking about is their breathtaking masculinity in my arms. Yeah, they have messed up my rationality that much.
"Just four days ago you went into their palace interested in nothing but touring the place and stealing for me." Father argues. "You weren't even eagerly anticipating to meet the so-called Angel Kings."
"That changed the moment I laid eyes on them, I guess." I tell. Right then, my interests, my goals, every future plan I had fell to the floor and shattered into microscopic pieces. I no longer needed them, the gorgeous kings were all I wanted then, now, and in future. Because never before have I seen something worth life itself!
"And what's in it for me in all this?" He questions.
I smile because I know exactly what to offer.
"Aside from it being your duty to support me as your daughter, just imagine endless wealth I could grant you if I were sitting on the throne as their Queen."
The scowl on his face disappears. "And you say you have a plan to make this work?"
"I'll need to see the oracle first." I tell.
"Well, you are in luck," Father replies. "She lives right here in the compound now."
Yes, I know the devious oracle has been hiding in this pack ever since the Angel Kings began hunting for conspiring with their former assistant to steal the crown.
I have never understood why witches love to live in damp, miserable caves, the place irks me.
The Inside is at least well lit and the devious oracle sits on the single chair at the table which is laden with bows of blood and roasted meats, which are her daily offerings to spirits. The sides of the cave are lined with shelves holding rare herbs, bubbling cauldrons and jars of mysterious ingredients. The opposite wall is lined with books upon books, containing spells and incantations. Once she's done everything for me I'll sell her to the angel kings.
She turns and gazes at me.
"What is it that you seek from me again, child?" she questions, her voice unwelcoming.
"The beauty you gave me is no longer enough," I demand. "I want more."
The old woman snorts, "I gave you a gift that can harvest the goods of others. I gave you a monster that can get you everything your shallow heart desires."
"Beauty is not the only thing I desire anymore," I tell. "I desire to be the wife of the mighty Angel Kings. I want to be their wife, and the one they love. Can you make that happen?"
