I will protect them

Logan

The invaders were many and came from all directions, but they had no plan - they simply advanced without any planning or leadership. Their attacks were confused and disorganized, allowing even the young members of my army to defeat more than one invader at a time. I scanned the area, but couldn't locate Charlotte or Fenrir, so I redirected my attention to my commander.

"Keep the invaders out of the castle mutes," I ordered and he nodded in agreement, then moved away to coordinate the attack.

The wolves attacked unusually, leaping over their enemies and taking advantage of their shorter, thinner frame. I realized that they were coming from outside. It was intriguing that they were attacking the capital, which was far from the southern seas. Besides, I hadn't received any recent reports of foreign ships docking.

"They've come from the east." A blind rage took hold of me. I hadn't taken the East, we just had a trade agreement, so they didn't owe me any kind of information or warning in the event of a suspicious vessel, or possible invasion of the kingdom.

In my head, I put the puzzle together. Gabriel and Diane had been hiding out in foreign lands across the sea for years. They had ties to the eastern tribes, who wouldn't refuse them an opportunity to regain their lost influence. I showed compassion by allowing them to live in harmony, but they returned the favor with betrayal. I wouldn't allow any of them to survive, I would ravage their lands and homes, execute them all, and prevent any life from flourishing on earth again.

"I'll need to remind them why they call me the Cruel Alpha King."

I approached the castle, taking out anyone who tried to stop me. Eventually, the enemy realized how powerful I was and attempted to gang up on me. But, this was just as ineffective as when they attacked me one by one. Their tiny bodies crumbled at the slightest movement of my hand, shattering into tiny pieces across the field.

When I reached the gates, I noticed sounds of battle inside and jumped over the walls. Invaders were attacking from the other side. Those inside the walls were more organized and physically stronger, so I realized the whole trap. Their targets from the start were Charlotte and Fenrir.

Lia was fighting at the entrance to the castle, wounded and weak, but never allowing them to advance. I joined her, eliminating those in my way with ease.

"Where are they?" I shouted as soon as I approached her.

"Safe," she replied and I knew what she meant.

Charlotte knew that if there was an invasion, she should go to my old room. The doors and windows in that place were fortified, made to contain my attacks due to the curse. She and Fenrir would be safe as long as we could prevent the invaders from entering the castle.

"Why aren't you with them?" I asked as I grabbed one invader and threw him at another who was running towards us.

"My duty is to protect them, that's what I'm doing," Lia said, ripping out the throat of an invader who lunged at her.

"I gave you permission to leave the day Michael died, but you're still here," I said and Lia looked at me out of the corner of her eye.

"I would never abandon that girl, neither her nor Fenrir. They have become my family." Lia said with a twinkle in her eye. She wasn't fighting to protect Luna and the future Alpha King, but those she saw as her only family.

I heard glass breaking to the east of the castle, where the bedroom was. Without hesitation, I headed there as fast as I could. On the way, I met invaders who were attacking servants and soldiers. I eliminated them all, one by one, without giving them a chance to fight back.

When I approached the corridors of the room where Charlotte and Fenrir were hiding, I saw that there were many more invaders present. Anger boiled up inside me as I understood my enemies' scheme. They knew our plans to protect the royal family.

As soon as they noticed me, they divided into two groups and attacked me. The other group headed to the reinforced door of the corridor, attempting to open it by any means. I confronted them, and the attacking group used my size and limited space against me, relying on their agility, just like the ones I'd already defeated outside the castle walls. But, their attempts failed, and I overcame them one by one. Eventually, I seized the last one and pressed him against the wall.

"Where is that coward Gabriel hiding?" I snarled, my muzzle inches from his face. The invader said a few words in a language I didn't understand, so I squeezed his neck tighter, digging my nails into his flesh. "Answer me, I know you understand very well what I'm saying."

"Alpha won't show himself to a corpse," he said, then pulled out a dagger and plunged it into my shoulder. I broke his neck instantly.

I removed the dagger and threw it away when I saw that its silver blade revealed nothing. I then looked at the wolves that were trying to enter the room. As I approached the room, my vision distorted and I felt dizzy. One of the invaders tried to attack me, but my strange condition didn't stop him or help him fight me. He lunged towards me with his arm outstretched, but I caught him and threw him against the nearest wall. I broke his arm and then hit his head and chest against the wall.

A ringing began to affect my hearing and I had to lean on the wall to keep up. There was something about that dagger that was affecting me, but I couldn't lose my senses, not while Charlotte and Fenrir were in danger. I reached the door and the last invader turned to me, holding a dagger like the one that had wounded me.

I grabbed his hand and broke his wrist, making him drop the dagger and scream in despair. With my teeth showing, I pulled him closer to me. "Who was that dagger for?" the invader turned pale and tried to get free by pulling and pushing on my chest with his feet.

I grabbed one of his ankles and pulled hard, ripping his leg from the knee down, making him scream, then I grabbed his neck and pulled the arm I was still holding, ripping it off and dropping it on the ground next to his leg.

"I asked you a question and I hate repeating myself," I said and the wolf urinated before starting to beg for mercy. "How pathetic." I broke its neck and threw the body away.

Silence overtook the place, making me believe that there were no other invaders around. I fell to my knees, my legs no longer able to support the weight of my body. My mind was going blank, I could no longer see anything, and then the scent of white flowers surrounded me and I felt myself fall forward, completely losing consciousness.
