The awakening of the gift

Charlotte

The walls were covered in blood, the bodies were strewn about and a large body with long dark hair stood out among them. Logan was lying face down, not moving. Panic seized me and my hands shook. I covered my mouth to stop myself from screaming, but then I pulled myself together. I had to act quickly and get Logan out of there before anyone else showed up.

I tried to lift him by putting myself under his arm, but Logan was too big and heavy for me alone to support his body. I needed help to lift him, but there was no one I could trust at that moment. It had already become clear that traitors and spies were infiltrating the castle because no one knew about the existence of that room apart from a few select soldiers, Logan, Lia, and me, not even Fenrir knew about the existence of that place. Then I realized that there was only one wolf I could trust in that castle.

"Fenrir!" I shouted and my pup immediately appeared in the doorway. As soon as he saw Logan, he went into shock. "Help me get him inside, quick!" Fenrir ran up to us and helped me carry Logan.

His eyes were frantic, his small hands trembling as he reached out to hold Logan's large body. I held his hands and looked into his eyes. "Show no weakness, show no fear. You are the son of the powerful Alpha King." His eyes gained strength and his hands stopped shaking.

It was difficult, but we managed to get Logan into the room and lock the door again. I didn't know if there were still invaders in the castle, so I locked the door as soon as we passed through it. Fenrir and I took Logan to bed and I saw the wound on his shoulder. My heart was racing, the throbbing pain in my shoulder reflected his wound and the fear of losing Logan began to grow in my chest. I needed to do something to stop the bleeding and I found out why he was unconscious. Such a minor injury would never bring him down, there was something wrong.

I knelt beside Logan on the bed, watching his breathing carefully. Fenrir was watching from afar, his small hands clenched into fists beside his body and looking fierce. He was trying to stand his ground, even in a situation like this. I needed to keep him under control, his father-like temper could become a problem.

"Fenrir," he jumped when he heard me call him. "Take as many clothes as you can and tear them into small pieces." He looked at me and then once again at Logan, who was roaring and clawing at the bed covers, tearing at the fabric with his claws.

While Fenrir carried out my instructions, I sat down next to Logan and examined his wound more carefully. That wound was unusual, the edges looked burnt and the bleeding wouldn't stop. There was nothing I could do in that room, but if Logan continued to bleed, he could die.

I pressed my forehead to his and prayed to the goddess with all my might, as I hadn't done for a long time. I begged, bargained, and finally offered my own life for his. I couldn't bear to live in a world where Logan wasn't there.

"If you want a life, then take mine," I said through tears but quickly wiped them away. I had to stand firm for Logan and Fenrir.

Knocks on the door put me on alert again, but the sequence of knocks that followed was a sign that Lia was on the other side of the door. I opened the door and pulled her inside, locking it again. Lia looked at me in confusion for a moment, until she came across Logan lying on the bed wounded.

"Charlotte," she said with a pale face.

"I know, no one can come here until he regains consciousness, but I need a few things." Lia nodded, already knowing exactly what to do, so she hurried out of the room.

"Mom," Fenrir approached with the rags. I pulled up the sleeves of my shirt and started to pick up various pieces.

I took the rags that Fenrir had cut and pressed them against the wound, trying to stop the flow of blood, but it was no use. I kept pressing and waiting for Logan's eyes to open to me again. I couldn't fail him, I couldn't lose him, I couldn't let Gabriel win. I looked at Logan, his open lips pulling in the air with difficulty, and then his big Lycan body began to freeze and my heart raced.

"No!" I shouted and mounted his big body. "You can't leave me! You're going to open your eyes, you have to open your eyes!" Tears streamed down my face and a sob escaped me. "You swore to Fenrir, you swore to me, you gave your word as a Lycan King. Don't you dare break those promises, Logan!"

Outside, the sun began its descent over the horizon, dyeing the sky red and orange, as I clung to Logan. The moon rose, as red as the blood that bathed the sheets. I looked at the moon and felt something inside me grow. I looked at Logan, who was barely breathing and touched my forehead to his once more.

"My Goddess, loving and merciful mother. I offer part of my life to this wolf so that he can see the next full moon, so that he can fight and bring glory to your name. As the daughter of the Aurora she-wolf clan, I beg you to grant my request."

The red glow of the moon took over the room, my vision blurred and I felt my body falling. My mind went blank and when I opened my eyes, before me stood my she-wolf, looking just as I had when I was twelve, when she first took over my body.

"Hello, Charlotte," she said in that thin, childlike voice. She held out her hand to me with a slight smile. "We need to go."

I stood up with difficulty and looked around, realizing that I was in the grotto of the Goddess, but something was strange. As we walked, the beautiful white flowers turned blood red, their sweet scent became ferrous and a strong tension grew with every step we took. At a certain point, I began to find it difficult to walk, falling to my knees on the ground. The air was thick and I had to close my eyes to focus on my breathing. A gentle touch on my forehead made me raise my face and I was faced with my she-wolf in her lupine form.

"We don't have much time, Charlotte," she said with a desperate tone. "Go back to what you are, we need to get to the end to save him."

I knew I understood what my she-wolf meant, so I felt my human body disappearing and my paws appearing, as well as my long copper-colored fur. Immediately I could breathe and we started running.

My body felt like it was being pulled by a powerful force, my paws slammed hard against the ground, propelling me forward faster and faster until a light appeared in front of me. My she-wolf stopped beside me and urged me forward. A hand emerged from the light, its pale skin shimmering like the stars. I rested my head on that hand and felt all the fear disappear at once.

"My precious daughter," a sweet, gentle voice came into my mind. "I will do as you ask, I will grant you the gifts you have long taken from those who have disappointed me."

My body seemed to float and then I opened my eyes. I was in my wolf form on top of Logan's body, still unconscious and motionless.
