Chapter 168: The fight

Chapter 168: The fight
Nathan was impatiently waiting for feedback from the police on the progress of the case. It was the third day since Harry and Carina had gone missing they had given the police the location of the cabin but they had gone there and found nothing,

Nathan started to get anxious and started thinking of the possible places Sara could have taken them. He didn’t even know if Harry had found Carina or not; he just hoped they were alive.

Nancy was still in police custody as an accomplice and though she had named Sara as a suspect they still wouldn’t let her go till she had given more substantial information.

Nathan was about to call the police and name Sara and name Sara as a suspect when he heard his doorbell ring.

He checked the door camera and saw Sara, which startled him, what was Sara doing here if she was behind the kidnapping? He dreaded what could have happened to Carina, what about Harry? Had he found Carina yet?

With a dreaded sigh, he opened the door,
“Hi, big bro!” She exclaimed cheerfully when Nathan opened the door.

“Where have you been?” Nathan asked sternly.
“At least let me in, before you ask questions,” she replied.

Nathan opened the door for her and she walked in looking around searching for the possible place Nathan could have kept the files. She hadn’t come to ask him for it, she had come to steal them.

“Where have you been?” Nathan asked again.

“I went on a little trip with my friends. I came back and a lot had happened. They say Carina went missing and someone mentioned me as a suspect to the police.”
Sara said with a little chuckle as if that wasn’t possible.

“Where is Carina?” Nathan asked her.
“I should be asking you, are you not her friend?” She replied with a smirk, I saw on the news that she went missing and couldn’t help but suspect that you guys were up to something.

Nathan was disgusted by her attitude, she knew what she had done but was trying to turn the case around on him which was simply disgusting.

“Sara, tell me the truth, what have you done to Carina?”
“I could never do anything, don’t you trust me anymore? I’m your sister”

“I don’t recognize the person you have become?” he said as his phone rang, he hurried to go and get it and Sara seized that opportunity to search the room hoping to find the documents.

Nathan picked up the call hoping to hear something positive from the police even their tone wasn’t cheerful when they said hello,

“Nathan Hughes, we got to the cabin and couldn’t find anything, there were signs that someone had been there but there was no sign where they went. The police have been dispatched into the other areas of the mountain for a thorough search but there’s something you should know.”

The word from the policeman got Nathan worked up, “What is it?”

“It’s about an explosion last night, it happened up in the mountains. We are on our way to investigate it, if Miss Grant was in there or anywhere near that area then I can’t promise you that she’s alright.”

Nathan’s heart began to race, “And what about Harry, has there been any sign of him?”
“No, there’s nothing on him either.”

At this point, Nathan was dying inside, he was angry with Sara, she was the only one who had answers to the nagging questions everyone was asking. Where was Carina?
“Thank you officer for the feedback,” he said and hung up.

“Sara!” he screamed and charged at her but she was no longer in the living room, “Sara!” he screamed again, going towards the study, lo and behold he found her there going through the files. He grabbed her by the arm and threw her on the floor, this time he was very angry.

Sara winced in pain and started to go backward to get away from Nathan. She had developed a sudden fear that he would hit her, he was her brother after her and was not afraid to hit her.

“Tell me Sara where are they?” he barked and grabbed her by the neck.

“I don’t know. Stop what you are doing, are you trying to kill me?” She fought back as Nathan's phone rang again. This time he ignored it and kept holding tightly to her neck as she tried so hard to break free, scared that Nathan would kill her.

“This is about the documents, right? You came here for the documents right?” Nathan screamed and kept following her steadily.

“I have nothing to do with the disappearance of those two!” she screamed.
“So why are you in my study? Tell me you didn’t come for the documents!”

Sara was beginning to regret coming to her brother’s place alone, she had never thought that Nathan would behave this way towards her. He reached forward and grabbed her by the neck attempting to strangle her.

“I will die, Nathan… please.” she struggled and began to cough, “What kind of brother does this to his sister?”

“So you don’t want to die but you have two people in your custody. Is your life more important than theirs?” he asked trying to snuff out the life out of his sister. Sara saw her life flash before her eyes,

Once again the phone rang which made Nathan let go of her neck, he dashed to pick it up,
“We just got a report from the police, that said there was an explosion at an abandoned food facility, fortunately, there were no casualties, but a few meters away from the scene there was the body of an unidentified man injured in the neck and lying in the snow. They will be bringing his body for identification.” Harry’s father informs Nathan.

Nathan breathed a sigh of relief knowing that there were chances that Harry and Carina were alive but the phone was on speaker and Sara heard what had just transpired. She gasped for breath. What was she going to do now?
