Chapter 66 SIXTY SEVEN
ROMANS’ POV
Grunting, I tried to move back but the heavy blow to my chest kept me stagnant as I wailed out in pain.
By my side, Richie was also going through the same torture.
“Why are you here?” Brandon roared out, before digging his knife into my leg.
“I already told you,” Roman gritted out, “I was supposed to be here for a party.”
Brandon shaked his head, before standing up.
He lit up his cigarette, discussing with one of the guards around.
Roman used that opportunity to glance at Richie.
The boy was badly beaten, and Roman felt guilty about that.
It was his fault.
He had brought the boy here, under the pretense of a party, and now, he was in this predicament.
Hopefully Mr Castor understood the clues Roman had dropped, and was on his way to save them.
“Are you ok?” he whispered out to Richie, nervously glancing around.
Richie simply glanced at him, before ignoring him.
Of course, he was angry, and had figured out Roman knew more than he was letting on.
Roman sighed, before glancing around.
Brandon had received a phone call, leaving them with the three guards currently observing them.
They weren’t bound, but Roman knew it would be foolish to try and fight his way out.
Especially since he knew two other guards that had caught them were somewhere else in this tunnel.
How many more were hidden?
His only plan was to continue playing dumb till Mr Castor came for them.
What if he doesn’t come? His wolf voice rang through his brain.
We need to fight now, his wolf told him, agitated about their current situation.
He didn’t really know Mr Castor well enough to believe the man would come for him, but still he really needed to believe he would.
Suddenly Richie stood up, staggering a bit.
“What are you doing?” Roman whispers out harshly.
“Sit down,” he gritted out, glancing at the guards who were approaching them.
Stubbornly, Richie ignored him, calling out to the guards.
“I need to pee,” he told the one closer to them.
The guard regarded him for a while, before suddenly kicking him in his private area.
The chilling scream Richie let out, would forever hunt Roman.
Roman watched pitifully as Richie crouched down, gasping in pain as tears stride down his face.
Roman used that momentary distraction to shuffle closer to Richie.
He didn’t know what to do to comfort Richie, instead he sat quietly close to him, letting him cry out his pain.
Soon enough, Brandon came back.
Roman stared at him as he came closer, something about him was more menacing than before.
Whatever phone call he had received had changed the atmosphere.
Before Roman could plead his case, Brandon descended on him with unrelenting rage.
This time around, it was obvious they wouldn’t be getting out alive.
Brandon punched him again, making Roman scream from the pain.
He was already badly bruised on his right side, and knowing that fact, Brandon kept hitting him there.
We need to fight his wolf screamed in his mind.
Nobody is coming to save us.
Roman agreed with him on that; he cursed Mr Castor for not responding to the clues he had sent him.
Gathering his strength, Roman punched Brandon back.
He wasn’t dying here, instead he would fight with his last breath.
Not expecting the punch, Brandon staggered back, quickly regaining his stance.
“I see,” Brandon muttered out, stopping his guards who were already coming forward.
Brandon rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, grinning as he observed him.
“I will give you a chance to beat me,” Brandon told Roman.
“If you do, then you leave here alive.”
Without giving Roman time to strengthen his stance, Brandon attacked.
Roman tried as much as he could to protect his injured ribs.
That was his weak point, and Brandon could tell as he repeatedly tried to punch him there.
Let me take over, his wolf told him, boiling for a fight.
Roman couldn’t change to his wolf.
Instead he closed his eyes, trying to remember how Brandon moved.
As much as he hated Mr Castor now, the man had taught him a thing or two.
Spreading his legs out, Roman used his leg to send a wide kick to Brandon chin.
The force of it knocked him back a little, but he held his stance, casting a quick glance to Richie.
The boy wasn’t crying anymore, instead he was on his knees as he watched the fight.
Using his momentary distraction, Brandon punched his unguarded rib, tearing a painful scream from him.
Roman blinked rapidly, clenching his teeth tightly.
With pure rage, he rushed towards Brandon, hitting him with everything he had.
He thanked the moon goddess he had tracked Brandon before this.
He could tell his next move easily from watching him fight.
Quickly, he dodged another punch, before landing one on Brandon’s chin.
Roman watched as Brandon staggered back from the force of the blow, before tripping over the dead man’s body.
Roman used that opportunity to knock him down, before caging him with his legs.
Repeatedly he kept punching Brandon, unleashing all his anger at him.
His wolf was ready to tear into Brandon if given the chance.
A hard punch knocked Roman’s head to the side.
He turned, one of the guards was behind him, with a gun pointed to his head.
Roman raised his hands up, eyeing the gun as he slowly got up from Brandon's body.
One of the other guards pushed a struggling Richie forward, before pointing a gun at him.
While the other guard helped Brandon up.
Brandon angrily wiped the blood from his busted lips and face, glaring at Roman.
“Shoot them,” he says simply, before walking out.
Roman glanced around, trying to gauge his way out.
He could bet that the gun contained a silver bullet.
A normal bullet wouldn’t do much on him, but a silver bullet could end his life.
He tried to find an escape, but he wasn’t seeing one.
Before they could shoot him or Richie, two big black wolves jumped on them from no where, attacking them as shots was fired in all directions.
Roman ducked down immediately, before rushing towards Richie who was lying unmoving on the ground.
Quickly he checked if he was still breathing, sighing in relief as he heard a faint heartbeat.
He turned Richie face front, clenching his teeth at the sight of the blood pouring out from Richie’s side.
He had been hit with a silver bullet, they needed to act fast.
Roman carried the boy, before leaving the tunnel.
He didn’t know who those wolves were that had saved him, though he suspected it would be Mr Castor, as no other person knew of his whereabouts.
He navigated his way through the tunnel, dragging Richie up the shaft.
Thankfully, Brandon or his guards were nowhere in sight.
“Is he ok?” someone asked from behind him.
Roman turned, sighing in relief as he saw Anthony who was casually observing them.
“Help!!” Roman cried out, “he has been shot with a silver bullet.”
Anthony rushed to his side, checking out Richie's wounds.
Roman watched as he changed to his wolf, assisting Richie unto his back.
He changed into his wolf too, before running behind Anthony.
They dropped Richie in front of the school infirmary, knocking on the door, before hiding behind a tree.
The school doctor came out, alerting others at the sight of Richie.
They rushed him inside, trying to stop the bleeding.
Roman sighed out in relief, before turning to thank Anthony.
He frowned in confusion, seeing nobody beside him.
Roman didn’t know how long he stood there, before finally returning to his room.
He slumped on his bed, holding his throbbing ribs.
Tomorrow he would question Mr Castor, but for now, he badly needed to rest so his body heals his wounds.
Roman sighed, wincing in pain, before finally succumbing to his tiredness.
