Chapter 62 SIXTY THREE

Chapter 62 SIXTY THREE
EMILY’S POV

Everyone was silent immediately after that vicious growl.

Fine, no one is leaving, now get off me, Roman gritted out, raising his hands up in surrender.

Emily was still confused about everything, yet she walked towards Roman, urging Mr Castor to get off him.

“I don’t know what is going on between you guys, but we will come back to that. Now,” Emily says, glancing at Anthony who had merely been observing everything.

“Why did you ask to see me?”

“Right!” Anthony muttered.

“Follow me,” he says, before walking out of the room.

They all strolled down the long familiar corridor, Emily occasionally glancing at Roman who was now sporting a permanent scowl on his face.

She knew whatever might have transpired between him and her uncles was bad enough for him to react in that manner, but now was not the time.

She would ask him about everything when they were alone.

They got to the lab Anthony had taken her to the other time she was here.

This time around, about four researchers were running around, trying to set up the machine she would be going into.

Different tubes were connected to the machine, a long string dangling inside it.

“What’s that?” Emily asked, pointing to the string.

“That is going to be connected inside you,” Mr Castor says, before giving her a soft smile. “These guys are going to carefully insert that string into your spinal cord, injecting you with all this liquid connected to these tubes.”

“Am sorry what?” Roman screeched out. “Are you guys insane?”

Mr Castor ignored him, rather he turned towards Emily.

“Look, I know this sounds scary,” Mr Castor says calmly. “But believe me, we have tested this machine, and have gotten a good result from it.”

“You have?” Emily asked, glancing at Anthony for confirmation. “On who?” She queried.

“A couple weeks ago, we tested this machine on one of our members, who was also facing the same problems as you.” Anthony told her, before walking closer to the machine.

He pointed to one of the tubes, filled with slimy substances connected to the machine. “This here is filled with enzymes containing lymphatic tissue found in the womb of a pregnant werewolf.”

“What?” Emily spluttered out in surprise, moving closer to observe the slimy liquid.

“How did you get something like that?” she asked, “and more importantly, how does it help me?”

Anthony smiled, before beckoning on one of the researchers gathered around.

He nodded at the researcher, giving her the go ahead to explain everything.

“Hello, my name is Rachel, and I am one of the researchers working on this.”

Emily, and Roman who had come closer to also observe the liquid greeted her back, waiting for her to explain everything to them.

“This research has been named Regeneration. Our main focus is trying to reclone, the moment a werewolf is formed in their mother’s womb.” Rachel pointed at another tube, “that tube over there, is filled with regenerative particles. We took some tissues from you, and some from your unborn babies, cloning it.”

“Wait!! what?” Emily exclaimed, glancing around. “Where did you get my tissue samples, talk more of my unborn babies?”

Anthony sighed. “We have your tissue sample from a long time ago, but we managed to obtain the tissues of your unborn babies the last time you were here.”

The last time she was here, Emily had been conscious the whole time, except from the moment she had been taken from the pack.

Which means, they had collected her unborn baby's tissue when she was unconscious.

“You took them when I was unconscious, and didn’t even bother to tell me till now?” Emily asked, an uncomfortable feeling brewing beneath her skin.

“What!!” Roman exclaimed, “I told you these guys are not to be trusted.”

“God knows what else they took from you, without letting you know.”

Roman turned towards her, gently taking her shaking hands in his. “Hey,” he whispered to her, "we can leave here, say the word and we leave immediately.”

”Everything about this sounds unreasonable and I don’t trust them.”

Gently, Anthony walked towards her, while Mr Castor simply scoffed at Roman words.

“Emily,” Anthony called gently, “we did what we had to do. And moreover, we needed to be sure everything would work out, before telling you.”

“I am sorry if you felt I purposely kept that information from you, but I need you to know that everything we are doing and have done, is for your benefit.”

Roman scoffed, disbelieving, before glancing at Emily.

Emily chewed on her bottom lips, confused about everything.

She glanced around nervously, at the awaiting eyes peering at her.

Ultimately, it was her decision if she wanted to continue or not.

And as much as she didn’t fully trust her uncle’s, they were her only hope for now.

Emily sighed, squeezing Roman hands still in hers for comfort. “I am not comfortable with not knowing," she says, addressing her uncles. “This project is not only about me, but also about my unborn babies. No more secrets, everything has to be run by me, if we are to continue with this.”

“Is that clear?” She asked loudly, glancing at her uncles.

Anthony smiled, shaking his head in agreement, while Mr Castor grumbled out.

Eventually, after the sharp glance Emily threw his way, he also reluctantly agreed.

The researcher who has been quiet all this while, gave Emily a calm smile, before continuing her explanation.

“As I was saying,” Rachel announced, breaking the awkward tension. “Our aim is to recreate the moment of birth, naturally, you were not born without the ability to shift, instead it was taken from you.”

“Your body still contains the enzyme required, we just need to activate it.”

“So, let me get this straight.” Emily says, facing Rachel.

“What you are explaining in simple terms, is simply recloning my natural state, Waking up my repressed wolf in the process?”

“Yes,” Rachel agreed. “In simpler terms, you could say that.”

“What about the babies?” Roman asked, “what is all this going to do to the baby?”

“We have made appropriate arrangements for that, and I assure you,” Rachel says with a smile, “your unborn children will be fine.”

Emily glanced at Roman, rubbing his hands gently. She could sense the unease coming from him, and frankly speaking she was trying hard to see the positive outcome from all of these.

“So when do we start?” Emily asked.

“Tomorrow,” Anthony spoke out. “Today we rest, and prepare your body and mind. It’s a big decision, you need to at least think of every possibility.”

They thanked Rachel, before leaving the lab.

Emily and Roman insisted on eating in their room, they needed to discuss everything.

Anthony had nodded in understanding, before leaving them, but not before assuring them once more that everything would be fine.

It was night time already when they both entered the room, from inside the cave, and the bright light scattered around, one could not tell the time of day.

Emily sighed, before walking towards the balcony,

“Hey,” Roman whispered, before hugging her from behind.

Emily closed her eyes, resting her back against his broad chest.

There was a lot to talk about, one being the growing relationship between her and Roman.

They were at a standstill, with no concrete definition of what they were. Yet, Emily was ok with that for now.

They had a lot of other things to worry about.

“Tell me,” she whispered out, straining her neck to look at Roman.

“About what?” Roman asked.

“My uncle’s,” Emily whispered out, "you seem to have a lot of distrust for them, and from what I witnessed today, maybe it’s justified.”

“So tell me.”

“what happened between you and my uncles?”
