Chapter 27 CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

Chapter 27 CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
ROMAN’S POV

Roman’s heart thumped hard against his chest, fear clawing at his heart.

Silence ensued, as everyone pondered on the man’s words.

What did he mean by eradicate? Roman thought, his eyes glancing around.

That’s enough the council leader boomed, his voice ringing out throughout the room. He stared, the man with the mustache down, daring him to utter another word.

The man glared at Emily, before sitting back down.

The council leader called on a man, who Roman recognized as the doctor that had treated Emily.

Roman watched as the man came forward. Doctor Rose, can you please tell us what you have found out, about the liquid being injected into Emily.

Doctor Rose nodded his head. From what we have gathered, it’s a drug that has many uses. One of them being to suppress a wolf. I can only guess, that was what Miss Falcon had been doing.

The council leader nodded his head, asking Doctor Rose to go back to his seat.

We can not conclude a mere child is a danger to a pack, simply because you want it so. The council leader says, briefly glancing at the man with the mustache.

We, as the council, will put our heads together and come up with the best outcome.

The council leader turned towards Alpha Regan. “Is there still no missing report, from any of our neighboring packs?” he asked

“Not yet,” Alpha Regan, who has been silent all this while says.

Murmuring fills the room, speculation’s flying around. The council leader glances at Emily, a thoughtful look in his eyes.

If truly Emily wasn’t sent by the rogue wolves, then she should be from one of our neighboring packs. Currently no one was looking for her, and that itself was a problem.

The Rogues had always been a threat to the Silver Crescent Pack, and the rumors of an uprising were spreading about.

Roman wasn’t too knowledgeable of the situation outside this pack. Even though he and Stefan were the next in line for the Alpha, and Beta of the Silver Crescent pack, a lot was still hidden from them.

Roman watched as both the council leader, and the blonde lady discussed quietly. Occasionally, they would glance at Emily, then Roman, before going back to their discussion.

Roman eyes flickered towards Emily, who was shuffling her legs. She looked back towards where he was sitting, Roman smiled at her reassuringly, nodding his head towards her.

Emily smiled at him, before facing the council leader.

Roman please come forward, the council leader says, peering down at them.

Roman frowns as he stands up, gingerly walking forward, he stops beside Emily.

I want you to take Emily out of the room, a guard will direct you to where you can stay, while we discuss. “Can you do that?”The council leader asked.

“Yes sir,” Roman says, taking Emily’s hands as he guides them out of the room. He paused briefly, looking towards his mother who was trying, but failing to hide how worried and confused she was.

She smiled at him, Roman smiled back, before walking out. A tall, burly man, named Kinsley was waiting for them. He ruffles Roman hair playfully, escorting them to the room where they would be waiting.

The room was simple, nothing much inside, just two chairs only. Roman sat on the chair, Emily sitting beside him. He glanced around, his hunches raised high.

The clicking sound of the door prompted Roman to stand. He runs towards the door, trying to open it only to discover that Kingsley had locked them inside.

He banged on the door, confused with the recent turn of events.

“What’s going on?” Emily asked besides him, sensing his panic.

Roman collected himself together. He was a Beta, he needed to start acting like it.

“Nothing,” he says, smiling at her, as he directs Emily back to their chair.

““Don’t be scared ok.”” I am sure my father won’t let anything happen to you, Roman tells her, taking her hands in his.

They sat there for a while, doing nothing. Before the door opened quietly. Roman glances towards the door, his heart beating at the sight of a giant black wolf. The wolf slowly walks into the room, its dark gaze on them.

Quickly Roman stands from the chair, pushing Emily behind his back. They back up, as the wolf comes closer. Without warning, the wolf throws itself on Roman, flinging both of them to the floor.

Roman falls to the floor, struggling against the wolf who had his jacket sleeve in its mouth.

Emily run, Roman shouted, looking around frantically. Emily was sitting in a corner, hyperventilating. She covered her ears with her hands, rocking back and forth.

Anger coursed through Roman, as he changed into his wolf, attacking the other wolf without mercy. He was not stupid, he knew there was an ulterior motive. It was just like his father had told him, the council would do whatever they wanted, just to get results.

He fights viciously, refusing to look toward Emily so he doesn’t get distracted. Roman bit into the legs of the black wolf, jumping back to avoid its claws.

Roman attacks again, his wolf vicious. He had never fought like this before, but a primitive part of him had taken over. His wolf was in charge now, Roman had given him total control.

Briefly, unable to resist, Roman glances towards Emily. He jumped back as the black wolf aimed at his neck, narrowly avoiding its claws.

Roman uses that opportunity to body slam into the wolf. The black wolf flies into the door, breaking it off its hinges. Without wasting any time, he jumps on the wolf, his sharp teeth dug deep into its neck as he bites through flesh and bones. With a final growl, Roman tore the wolf's neck off, panting heavily.

He turned towards Emily, approaching her quivering form slowly. Roman paused, tinting his head as he observed her.

What had Miss Falcon done to her? Was the drug she had injected into Emily, really to suppress her wolf?

He changed back quickly, before slowly approaching her.

Emily!! Roman called gently, it’s just me Roman, he says. Roman crouched close to her, taking her shaking hands into his. She looks up, tears rolling down her eyes.

Roman she wailed, hugging him tightly, as she sobbed.
I was so scared, she says.

It’s ok, Roman says, patting her back.

Just then, Roman parents ran into the room, shock on their faces as they took in the sight of the dead wolf.

His mum hurried towards him and Emily, gently guiding them up before hugging them close to her.

They walked back into the council room, surprised, and unsurprised gaze on them. Roman could see disappointment on some of their faces.

What the hell was that, his father barked, As he stood in front of them, his stance protective.

Mr Fisher, the council leader, began, but was coldly interrupted by his father.

Romans dad, raised his hands silencing everyone. It is with respect and devotion to my pack that I am here today with my family. You sent a Rogue wolf to attack my son, and this little girl in your bid to prove what?

If this is how you conduct your research, then you people are no better than Miss Falcon, or the Rogue wolves we are so against. It is a shame that you have not only lost my trust and respect, but that of my son and this little girl. What example are we setting as a pack? He asked, glancing at each and everyone.

Murmuring filled the room, as everyone discussed among themselves.

The council leader turned towards the man with the mustache, anger in his eyes as he roared. What did you do? Elijah, he growled out, prompting everyone to look at the coward.

Elijah simply smirked, before standing up. You have gone soft Gabriel, he says, glaring at the council leader.

We needed to know that the drugs Miss Falcon injected into the girl had worked. And what better way than this, he says, his eyes on Emily. It’s a pity, that the girl knows how to play her role well.

Roman gritted his teeth, his grip on Emily tightening as he growled loudly at the man.

One day, Roman promised he was going to kill him.
