Chapter 154 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR
Chapter 154 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR
EMILY’S POV
I retched for the fourteen or was it twentieth time, my body shivering hard as I tried to adjust my body in this tight, air restricting cage that manic Zed had dumped me into.
A part of his experiment he had said, though for the life of me, I couldn't imagine just what exactly he hoped to accomplish by stuffing me into this tiny cage.
Rage, pure undiluted rage was shimmering beneath my skin, the only thing controlling me from exploding was the little life growing inside me.
I groaned, clutching my stomach as the ship rocked hard.
Officially, I hated ships.
How long has it been? Was I ever going to see Roman again?
I shaked my head hard, as if that only could wash out every negative thought swirling like a dark tornado in my mind.
I was going to see Roman and my children again. No matter what, no matter how sick and dangerous Zed is.
I raised my head up slightly as footsteps could be heard, marching towards me.
I gritted my teeth, my eyes focused on the dark neat shoe standing in front of my cage.
A young man bent down, leaning towards the cage.
“Hello Emily….” Zed’ son, honestly I couldn’t remember his name, called out, his voice light as he peered at me.
I groan in response, trying to stretch my legs a little, biting back my groan of frustration at how impossible something as small as stretching felt.
“Can you understand me?” He asked softly.
I remained silent. I have learnt that keeping silent, often made them leave me the fuck alone.
“I’m Davies, Zed’s son, but I am sure you already know that.”
I scoffed, turning my head away.
“You are wasting your time Davies,” one of the hunters with him huffed out, but was immediately shushed by Davies.
“Are you hungry?” Davies asked. “Are you cold?”
I glared at him, biting back the curses floating in my throat.
Fucking kind of question was this?
“I told you, she is not going to respond.” that same hunter gritted out, his bleak dark gaze glaring at me.
I was hungry, and fuck I was so so cold. If this was Zed’s experiment, to see if I would crack and beg for crumbs, then so be it. Not only must I survive, but I also had my baby to think about.
Davies made a noise of disappointment, before standing up.
Before I could say anything, he turned away.
As they walked out, I let out a small whimper. It wasn’t intentional, I was just tired, hungry and cold.
Davies froze.
He looked back, staring at me. I cowered a little, playing the part of a broken beat up captive.
“Move the cage.” Davies yelled out to the hunters behind him, his eyes planted firmly on me.
“Come on Davies, she is manipulating you. Remember what your father said.” That same hunter argued.
“Shut up Reece. Just do as I instructed, I will handle my father.” Davies gritted out.
I hid my smirk, turning my face away as my cage was lifted up.
I gripped the side of the cage, gritting my teeth as my body clashes repeatedly against the cold metal bar aggressively.
Davies might have instructed them to move the cage, but he never specified about being gentle. And these hunters were taking out their anger in the only way they could for now.
I don’t know how long we walked through the narrow hallway, but soon enough, my cage was being lowered into a very nice room on the ship. And my God, I could already feel how warm everywhere was.
One by one, the hunters left, Reece lingering a bit too long, before finally also leaving. Only Davies remained.
I frowned as I watched Davies scan the room, my eyes trailing his every movement.
With nothing else to do, my eyes slowly also scanned the room. There was a normal size bed in the center, which looked very comfortable. I could already imagine myself stretching my bent limps on it. I groan, taking in the rest of the room.
One wall was covered with a wardrobe, and the other side had a large desk pushed up against it. Other than that, there wasn’t much.
Loud knocks sounded on the door, Davies groaned, his eyes flickering towards me, before he marched towards the door, opened it, groaned loudly, before walking out.
I relaxed my back a bit, staring at my hands. I don’t know what exactly Davies wanted from me, but whatever it was, I needed to play my cards right.
Within seconds, Davies came back, this time carrying a bowl of freshly cooked food. The smell was everywhere, the aroma dragging out buried hunger to the surface.
My stomach growled loudly, rejoicing at the sight of food.
Davies chuckled, placing the bowl in front of me.
From what I could see, it was chicken broth. I licked my lips, my hands clinging onto the bars as I knelt down, waiting.
“You can eat it if you want.” Davies says, sitting down on the bed as he stared at me.
I glanced at him, before looking down at the bowl in front of me. I stretched my hands out, dragging the bowl through the opening specifically for this purpose.
I sighed out, the warmness of the bowl, seeping into my cold hands.
I glanced at Davies again, frowning at him, before staring at the bowl.
I was hungry, yes, but I was also logical. What are the chances that this bowl didn’t contain something that could be harmful to me, or my baby.
I mean it was just strange, this whole situation. But even stranger was the way Davies was watching me, his eyes twinkling as if he was seeing something extraordinary for the first time.
I dropped the bowl reluctantly, pushing it away, before curling in on myself.
Davies frowned, cocking his head to the side as he stared at me, and then the bowl.
Davies walked forward, sitting down in front of the cage, much to my surprise.
Now that I was properly looking at him, despite the dim light. He was rather handsome, with wavy dark brown hair, brown eyes and a strong face.
“I don’t know what kind of food you eat, but this is chicken broth. Very delicious, I assure you.” he says, a small smile playing on his lips.
I rolled my eyes. Did he think I didn't know what chicken broth was? Oh right, according to hunters, we were nothing but murderous animals. I could see where this assumption could have spawned from.
He reached his hands inside the cage, making me scout backwards though, there really was nowhere to run to.
I watched as he took the bowl, before taking two spoons from it, licking his lips.
“See, no poison or whatever you were thinking of. I don’t want to hurt you Emily. I am rather very intrigued by you, seeing you dead is something I do not want. Now say you want this bowl, please…” Davies whined out.
Fuck.., I was hungry, and now that I was sure no poison was in this bowl, there really was nothing stopping me from eating. I needed to gather as much energy as I could.
“I need to eat.” I growled out, biting my lips.
Davies smiled, before placing the bowl back into the cage.
I took the bowl, took my first bite, almost moaning as the flavor ran greedily through my taste buds.
I didn’t even care that Davies was watching me creepily, instead I focused on the food.
After I was done, I dropped the plate, staring at the bed longingly.
Davies didn’t say anything, just sat there watching me.
I sighed, curling in on myself. The gentle rocking of the ship, and the warm food in my stomach, started making me drowsy.
Slowly, my eyes drift close, the last thing I saw before dousing off was Davies' creepy smile.
