Chapter 155 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE

Chapter 155 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE
EMILY’S POV

The first thing I noticed when I woke up, was how stretched out I felt, and how soft whatever I was laying on was.

I twisted my body to the side, stretching my legs, before reluctantly opening my eyes.

I was still in the same room, this time laying on the soft warm bed. A thick blanket was draped over my body, now pooling at my waist as I sat up.

I groan, trying to hide my surprise at the creepy familiar sight of Davies.

He was casually sitting on the chair at the other side of the wall, books, and whatnot scattered on the desk table.

My eyes, flicker towards where the cage that had been my little safe space was supposed to be, noticing that it was gone.

Fine, at least I had a bed now, I could stretch my body.

“Hope you had a good rest?” Davies asked, turning to face me.

I didn’t reply, just stared at him, my eyes flickering to the books scattered on the table. A lot could have happened while I was asleep, and i didn’t trust Davies.

With Zed it was easier, I knew he hated werewolves, had a sick mental unhealthy obsession with us. And I know he plans on hurting us. With Davies, looking at him now, I couldn’t tell where he stood, and that honestly scared me more.

“I know you don’t trust me. Honestly, i can’t say I blame you. But me and my father have different part, different interests. I see the potentials that could be if we work together, my father sadly do not understand that aspect.”

“I want to get to know you Emily. I hope you can trust me and get to know me also.”

When I didn’t answer, Davies sighed, standing up, before dragging his chair towards me.

He sat back down, leaning back against the chair, folding his hands as he stared at me.

“You are far from home Emily, pregnant and surrounded by hunters crying for your blood. You need allies, friends with mutual benefits. I don’t wish to see you dead or used for whatever my father plans. I believe together we could work together, and who knows, sooner than never, you might actually go back home. To your mate, your children. You would like that wouldn’t you?”

I gripped the blanket tightly, my canine arching as I imagined all the ways i could tear into Davies, tearing his limps apart.

Instead through tightly clenched teeth, “what do you want?” i gritted out, my hardened stare piercing his.

Davies smiled, as if he had finally managed to break me.

“Let’s start with something simple. I ask you questions, and for every question I answer, you can ask me yours too.”

I thought about It for a while, not buying all the bullshit he was spitting out. But since I had nothing to do, and needed to gather as much information as i could, I breathed out deeply, staring at him.

“Ok.” I agreed softly, let the game begin.

“Well then, since I am feeling good,” Davies says. “You can ask me your questions first. Anything.”

I searched my mind, looking for the perfect question. I could think of plenty, what month it was, where we where. I sighed, trying to dig deeper, looking for something that could lead me closer to what Zed’s plan was.

“Why does Zed want werewolves, what is his plan for us?”

Davies chuckled, biting his lips.

“First of, that’s two questions. I will answer only one per our rules. My father is a scientist, specifically on werewolves. Since I was a child, he has always been fascinated with wolves. But this fascination became something more when he stumbled on journals, family heirloom, describing something absurd, unbelievable even. At first my father laughed it off, but something I still don’t know about convinced him, and then he started his research, which will lead him to stumbling across one of you, spiraling his madness. I could go on and on, but to cut this short, my father needs biological weapons, and you are the perfect specimen for creating one.”

I nodded at the answer. But although I felt like my question had been answered, I also realized that it had just led to more questions.

“Ok, it’s my turn now,” Davies says.

I nodded, all the questions he could possibly ask me running through my mind.

“Now before I ask a question, I need you to promise me something,” Davies asked, staring intently into my eyes.

I nodded in response. There was something about Davies stare that made me uncomfortable and nervous.

“I need you to promise that you’ll tell me the truth,” Davies said. “I’ll understand if you don’t want to go into details, or reveal anything too personal, but please don’t lie. If you do and I find out, I won’t be able to trust you, and it’s important I trust you, Emily. It’s important that you can trust me as well. Is that clear?”

I frowned, that sinking feeling spreading through me. There was something about Davies I was yet to figure out, something that every part of my instinct was warning me against. Right now he wanted to believe in trust between us, i could at least see where it would eventually lead to.

“Yes,” I answered, “I understand.”

“Good.” Davies says, chuckling a bit.

“So, where you born a werewolf, or you were bitten and became one?” Davies asked, standing up. He strolled towards the desk, picking up a black thick journal, before sitting back down.

“I was born a werewolf.” I answered, a bit relieved.

Davies nodded, jotting something down.

“Can someone become a werewolf through a bite?” He asked again.

“Now, that’s fast. One question per person remember?” I told him, raising my eyebrows.

Davies smiles, nodding for me to ask my question.

“How far away is the human land?” I asked.

Davies eyebrows raised slightly, whatever he had been writing paused as he stared at me.

“Hmm.., it’ll take around 5 weeks to get there,” Davies replied.

I nodded my head, storing that information deep into my mind. 5 weeks was a long time, and I wondered if truly Davies could stop Zed from whatever experiments he had for me. Whatever I had to do to escape this ship, I had at least 5 weeks to plan ahead.

I didn’t have enough time to dwell on it as another question was thrown at me.

“I read that werewolves aren’t actually a race, but was created through a rare mutation. Does that mean you were once like us, before you became a werewolf?”

I swallowed, which should have been easy, but my throat was suddenly dry, leading to a series of loud awkward coughing.

As far as I know, i have always been a werewolf. I honestly didn’t have an answer for this ridiculous question.

“How are you sure you humans aren’t the rare mutations?” I asked back, totally evading the question.

Davies leaned back against the chair, staring at me, while I stared back, refusing to back down.

“I see, we have reached a question neither have a proper answer for. Let’s move forward.” Davies mumbles out.

He stood up again, walking towards the desk, this time around, he came back with a small silver suitcase I hadn’t even noticed.

I eyed the suitcase warily, moving back a bit.

Davies opened the suitcase. Inside was two small ankle length metal cuff.

“What’s that?” I asked, nodding towards the funny looking metal.

Davies turned towards the object I was looking at. His face was blank, his fingers lightly grazing the cuffs.

“This is a biological modified silver cuffs. You see it’s one of my creation. I always leaned towards the more clean effective way of dealing with things. This right here contains tiny genetic ants, created with wolfsbane. You see this?” Davies asked, pointing to a sharp opening on the cuffs.

I nodded, sweat dripping from my brows.

Davies smiled. “This will be injected into the wolf legs, an act of control. At any slight disobedience, I release the ants inside the wolfs body, letting it do all my dirty work. Very convenient little thing.”

I swallowed thickly. “Why.., why do you have that now?” I whispered out.

“Because my dear Emily,” Davies says slowly, a large grin spreading all over his face. “This cuffs were created specifically for you.”
