Chapter 147 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY EIGHT
EMILY’S POV
I couldn’t remember how long I had been unconscious. I had a high fever, I was constantly coughing. Everything hurt, but surprisingly, my stomach and leg felt lighter. The pain was more from my insides.
I opened my eyes slowly, staring at the dim light. I was still in the basement, and Antonio was seated by my side, his hands folded over his lap as he stared at me.
“You’re awake,” he grumbled out tiredly. “How are you feeling now?”
“I feel like shit.” I groaned out, coughing a little. Fuck I was beyond tasty.
I licked my dry lips, staring at him pointedly.
Antonio chuckled. “Calisto, bring me water,” he screamed out.
Calisto huh, so that was the name of that quack.
Antonio came closer, touching my forehead. I hated to
admit it, but his hands were cool against my head.
Fuck…i probably smelt like death itself, how he can sit this close was beyond me.
“Your temperature is calming down a bit, that’s good,” he murmurs. “You have been asleep for three days,” he says.
How long have I been here? And I still felt this weak.
I start coughing again, just in time as Calisto walks in with a glass of water.
I closed my eyes, trying to calm my breathing down.
Antonio nudged me a little, before gently assisting me up, bringing the glass of water to my lips.
I dragged the glass from him, gulping down every single drop of water.
After I was done, I sighed out loudly, looking down at my stomach.
It was completely healed up, the only indication that I ever had an injury there, was the faint scar at my side. But other than that, something else made me sit there in shock.
My stomach wasn’t flat anymore, no, there was a little visible bulge now. It can’t be, I don’t know how long I have stayed here, but my stomach shouldn’t be this visible.
I remember the excruciating pain I had felt before passing out, was it my baby, growing bigger inside me like the twins did?
“You didn’t tell me you were pregnant?” Antonio says softly, staring at my stomach.
Now I get it, why he was being so kind and gentle.
And yesterday, he witnessed something impossible.
“Yea, like you didn’t tell me you were a lunatic,” I sneered out.
Antonio chuckled, walking back to his seat.
“How about Zed, thought you wanted me to meet him?”
No reply. He just sat there staring at me.
“What are you planning to do, keep me here as your pet, slave?”
“Shut up.” Antonio growled out.
“So a slave huh, I see. Shame, I thought you had more vision than that. What did Zed promise you? Money? Alpha? What? You coward.”
“Yeah, let’s go with that.” Antonio says calmly, not rising to the bait.
I slumped down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. I didn’t care whatsoever what Zed had promised him. My only thought now was surviving and finding a way to escape. I couldn’t let Zed see me in this condition, I refuse to imagine what he would do with my baby.
Calistor came back in, this time with a tray containing food by the smell of it.
My stomach rumbles out loudly.
I licked my lips, the smell alone making my dry mouths fill with saliva.
“Can you sit up?” Calisto asked softly.
I grumbled, but still pushed myself up slowly.
He dropped the tray on the bed, before moving back a little, him and Antonio staring at me.
I should have minded, but hunger made anyone oblivious. So I ignored them, eating the hot food slowly.
For all I know this food was poisoned, or Eve injected with something else. But I figured if Antonio wanted me dead, he would have done so a long time.
“Tell me all you know about Zed?” Antonio asked me.
I glanced at him briefly, chewing my food slowly.
“You are the one preparing me as a nice little gift, shouldn’t you know more about him?” I say calmly.
“Answer me,” Antonio growls out.
I sighed out. “I don’t know much, he is a lunatic, wanting the destruction of werewolves, and one day will die by my hands.”
Calisto laughed at that, shutting up quickly at the glare Antonio threw at him.
“Is Alpha George aware that his Beta had decided to kidnap me? And worse, present me to the very man trying to clone our DNA. What do you think will happen if Zed somehow manages to create humans with every gift we possess or more?”
“Have you thought about that, or are you so blinded by your hate and jealousy?”
“Do you think you are going to be spared?”
“Whatever he told you, or promised you was a lie, and eventually you are going to end up like Luna Serena, killed by my hands, or killed by Zed. Even worse, he could turn you into a mindless hunter.”
“Shut up.” Antonio roared out, standing up abruptly, the force knocking the chair back.
He glared at me, his hands shaking slightly by his sides. After a while of us just staring at ourselves, Antonio turned marching out of the room.
I finished my food now cold slowly, satisfied with myself.
Now it was clear to me Antonio was working alone. Of course I could not be totally sure of it, but I have the gut feeling that I am right.
I wonder for how long he has been a spy for Zed. That coward was becoming predictable.
Secondly I had succeeded in planting a seed of doubt into his mind.
Third, Calisto was my escape plan. He wasn’t like Antonio, wasn’t far deep, and could be manipulated, but slowly. I had gotten our location from him sneakily, now all I needed to do was bid my time.
I dropped the empty tray on the ground, laying down back.
I didn’t know if what I wanted to do was even going to work, but I had to try.
I closed my eyes, searching for my mate's bond.
It was faint, but still I cling to it, pushing my energy towards it.
“Roman…., can you hear me?”
“East, close to the Edmund river. Find me…. ,”I whisper out softly.
