Chapter 145 Chapter 145. I Want to Live

Chapter 145 Chapter 145. I Want to Live
Lysander already had a vague guess in his heart. But before he made a move against that person, he still needed to confirm everything and find solid proof.

Several vehicles were parked outside the entrance of the building. Mike, the captain of the guards, hurriedly ran in from outside.

“Alpha, is Miss Zoria all right?”

Mike had clearly been the one who drove off first, but Lysander had still overtaken him on the way here. Throughout the entire drive, Lysander had driven like a madman, as though he no longer cared about his own life.

Mike looked around the factory once before noticing the figure lying inside the vehicle.

The car windows had already been closed tightly. Zoria was wrapped from head to toe in Lysander’s coat, with only half of her deathly pale face left uncovered. There were still several streaks of dried blood on her face and body.

Mike could not help feeling both curious and shocked.

Lysander had been at odds with the elders of the Valerius family for many years. No matter how serious the trouble he encountered was, he had never once taken the initiative to ask the Valerius elders for their help. In Mike’s memory, this was the first time Lysander had ever ordered the family to send out so many people at once.

And he had done all of it just to find Zoria.

Lysander gave his order in a low voice. “Send more men to search the entire surrounding area. The person behind this definitely hasn’t gotten far yet. No matter what you have to do, you must capture him and bring him back to me today.”

Mike immediately withdrew his gaze. He nodded with a serious expression, then turned around and began giving orders to the remaining guards, sending them out to search the nearby area.

Lysander returned to the vehicle.

Zoria’s small body was curled up inside his coat. Even without reaching out to touch her, Lysander could clearly see that her whole body was trembling badly.

He immediately told the driver to turn up the temperature inside the car. Then he moved closer to her, pulled Zoria tightly into his arms, and used the warmth of his own body to warm her.

As soon as he thought about what might have happened if he had arrived even a little later, Lysander could no longer control the way his body shook with fear and anger.

If he had been just a few minutes later, those five men would have violated Zoria.

The wolf inside him continued to growl without stopping. It wanted to rush out and tear apart every single person who had harmed her.

Zoria spoke in a hoarse voice. “My stomach hurts.”

Lysander lowered his head and gently pressed a kiss against her ice-cold face.

“It won’t hurt anymore once we get to the hospital. Try to hold on for just a little longer.”

Zoria lay weakly in his arms. She slowly lifted her pale face and looked up at him.

“I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold on.”

“Be good. Don’t say something like that.”

Lysander’s voice had already begun to tremble. He tried his best to keep himself calm, but there was no way for him to hide the fear in his eyes.

“I can feel the baby inside my belly leaving me.”

A weak, pale smile appeared on Zoria’s face.

“If I had known from the beginning that everything would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have chosen to keep the baby. If I hadn’t kept it, then it wouldn’t have had to follow me and suffer through all of this.”

The most painful thing in this world was watching the person you loved suffer right in front of your eyes while knowing there was nothing you could do to save her.

Lysander’s vision slowly became blurred.

He buried his face against Zoria’s shoulder and spoke in a hoarse voice. “You’re going to be all right. Nothing is going to happen to the baby either.”

Zoria felt as though the bones throughout her body were being crushed apart, one piece after another. Her ears also ached badly, and the pain made it harder and harder for her to hear what Lysander was saying.

She struggled to keep herself awake. Her voice became weaker with every word she spoke.

“My brother said the baby can already hear sounds from the outside. He told me to think of a name for it and call it by that name often.”

Zoria stopped for a moment to catch her breath, one hand still resting protectively over her belly out of instinct.

“I’ve already thought about it. Its nickname will be Lior. If nothing happens to it this time, then its official name will carry your family name...”

Zoria could not finish what she was saying because she suddenly felt a warm drop of water fall onto her neck.

Lysander was crying.

“Its official name will be Lysorian Valerius.”

Lysander’s throat burned with pain. Every word that came out of his mouth sounded hoarse and heavy.

“The baby will definitely be born safely.”

A sharp pain suddenly stabbed through Zoria’s heart. It only lasted for a short moment, but it was so sharp that she could barely breathe.

The calmer she looked on the outside, the more frightened she felt deep inside.

She was afraid that the blood from those men had entered one of the open wounds on her body. She was afraid that the Blood Poison pathogen had already entered her body without her knowing it.

She was afraid that she would have to spend the rest of her life waiting for the disease to become active. Even more than that, she was afraid that the child inside her belly would be infected through her and might not even be able to come safely into this world.

In the past, no matter how much pain and suffering Zoria had been forced to endure, she had never been afraid. She had once felt that there was nothing frightening about death. There had even been times when she thought dying might be easier and more peaceful than continuing to live.

But the months she had spent by Lysander’s side had gradually made her forget what that kind of despair felt like.

Lysander had made her realize that deep down, she still wanted to live.

Tears silently rolled down Zoria’s face.

She cried without making a sound. Her breathing was weak and broken, and her bloodless lips trembled slightly.

“I... I really feel terrible...”

She grabbed Lysander’s shirt tightly, as though she were trying to hold on to the last thread still connecting her to this world.

“But I want to live...”

At that moment, Zoria looked like a fragile piece of thin white porcelain. It seemed that if someone touched her with even a little too much strength, she would immediately shatter into pieces.

Lysander lowered his head and kissed her cold lips.
