Chapter 143 Chapter 143. The Unborn Child
Chapter 143 Chapter 143. The Unborn Child
Then who was the father of the child inside Zoria’s belly?
Was it Zephyr’s child?
Zoria kept one hand over her belly to protect it while covering one ear with the other. Her expression was filled with pain, and she looked as though she might lose consciousness at any moment.
The thick smell of blood filled the entire factory. Because she was half human and half wolf, her hearing and sense of smell were much sharper than those of an ordinary person. The laughter, the heavy breathing, and the unpleasant smell of sickness all around her made her feel as if her head were about to split open.
Michael asked coldly, “You still haven’t started?”
The five men looked at one another, but none of them dared to be the first to speak.
It was not that they did not want to do it. But when they saw that the woman in front of them was pregnant, even men with twisted minds like theirs found it difficult to go through with it. The excitement they had felt at the beginning had already disappeared long ago.
Michael walked forward with a vicious look on his face. His eyes were fixed directly on Zoria’s belly, and he made no attempt to hide the cruel idea in his mind.
The moment Zoria saw the way he was looking at her, she immediately understood what he intended to do.
She used both her hands and feet to drag herself backward. The face that she had forced to remain calm until now finally showed clear panic.
The other men seemed to understand what the man who had hired them wanted. They all rushed forward at once and pinned Zoria’s arms and legs firmly against the ground.
Zoria screamed. She struggled with all the strength left in her body while shouting at them, “Get away from me! Don’t touch me!”
One of the men raised his hand and slapped her across the face several times in a row.
The blows were so hard that Zoria’s scream became trapped in her throat. She turned her head to one side and coughed up several mouthfuls of blood. Bright red blood ran down from the corner of her mouth and dripped onto the floor, quickly forming a small pool beneath her face.
“Hold her mouth shut. Don’t let her bite off her tongue.”
Michael spoke as he walked forward.
He lifted one foot and placed it directly on Zoria’s belly.
He had not pressed down with any strength yet, but that action alone was enough to make Zoria’s entire body tremble with fear. Beneath that thin layer of skin and flesh was her child.
If Michael used even a little more force, she did not dare imagine what would happen.
“Zephyr really is a lucky man.”
Michael was especially interested in the pregnant woman lying in front of him. In the past, he had only heard Faye say that Zoria carried a special bloodline and was capable of giving birth to an Alpha werewolf’s child.
He had never expected that one day he would get the chance to see her in this condition with his own eyes.
Zoria clenched her teeth tightly. For a brief moment, her pupils turned a pale shade of gold, but her body was already far too weak for her to shift. The medicine that had been injected into her body was still suppressing the power of her wolf blood.
“Hurry up and finish this.” Michael withdrew his foot and ordered them coldly. “Once you’re done, come outside and divide the money.”
After saying that, he turned around and started to leave.
Right at that moment, the sound of car engines suddenly came from somewhere in the distance.
At first, the sound was very faint, but it quickly became clearer and louder. There was more than one vehicle. The heavy roar of engines came one after another, as though an entire convoy of cars were speeding straight toward the abandoned factory.
Michael was in the middle of lighting a cigarette. When he heard the noise outside, his hand suddenly trembled, and the flame from the lighter nearly burned his finger.
Ball hurriedly ran in from outside.
“Michael, something’s wrong! There are a lot of cars outside. They have at least five times as many people as we do!”
Michael’s hand, which was holding the cigarette, trembled again. The flame in his lighter immediately went out.
“What the hell is going on?”
This factory was located in an extremely remote area. There was not even any phone signal inside the building. How could anyone have found this place so quickly?
Ball looked at Michael’s expression and swallowed nervously.
“Michael... there’s something I forgot to tell you. Before we brought her here, that little bitch managed to send her location to someone outside. I don’t know who she sent it to.”
The moment Michael heard that, he flew into a rage.
He raised his hand and slapped Ball hard across the face.
“You idiot!”
Ball held the side of his face that had been struck. His whole body was trembling with fear.
“Michael, what are we supposed to do now?”
“What else can we do? Run!”
The other side had five times more people than they did. Were they supposed to stay here and fight them?
Ball turned his head and looked toward the inside of the factory.
“What about the men still in there?”
“You don’t even know whether you’ll get out of here alive, and you still want to worry about those men infected with Blood Poison?” Michael said coldly. “They don’t have much longer to live anyway. What difference does it make whether they die sooner or later?”
Ball nodded again and again, then hurried outside and ordered the remaining men to get into the vehicles and leave immediately.
The sound of running footsteps, shouting, and car engines starting filled the factory at once, turning everything into complete chaos.
A moment later, a loud crash suddenly shook the entire building.
The factory’s iron door was smashed open by a black off-road vehicle. The vehicle did not slow down at all. It drove straight toward the open area where Zoria was being held.
When it was only a few meters away from her, the driver suddenly turned the steering wheel. The tires scraped hard against the ground, making a sharp, piercing sound. Then the vehicle braked and came to a sudden stop right beside her.
The door flew open.
Lysander stepped out of the vehicle.
The Alpha’s cold presence and heavy killing intent immediately spread through the entire factory.
The full pressure of an Alpha was released without restraint. Every werewolf in the building felt an invisible force pressing down on their bodies. Their instincts kept warning them that the man who had just appeared was extremely dangerous.
The men who had been pinning Zoria to the ground immediately stopped what they were doing. All of them turned at the same time and looked at the young man who had appeared out of nowhere.
