Chapter 142 Chapter 142. Fight to the End
By then, Zoria’s eyes had also become completely red.
Even after being thrown onto the ground, she still held the shard of glass tightly in her hand. Its sharp edge was now covered with the man’s infected blood, making it more dangerous than any ordinary weapon.
But she no longer cared.
Without the slightest hesitation, she immediately raised the bloodstained shard to her own throat and slashed it hard across her neck.
She would rather die right here than allow these men to humiliate her. More than that, she did not want the child inside her belly to suffer with her while Blood Poison slowly ate away at both of their bodies.
The shard of glass had only cut a few millimeters deep into her skin when a hand suddenly reached out from behind her.
The man grabbed Zoria’s wrist with enough strength to nearly crush her bones, then violently tore the broken shard out of her hand.
The sharp edge of the glass sliced across her palm and left behind a long, deep wound.
Zoria frowned slightly from the pain.
Her blood immediately poured from the cut, mixing with the traces of infected blood that were still left on the shard.
No one knew whether the Blood Poison had already entered her body.
Immediately afterward, another man seized both of her arms and held them tightly before roughly forcing her down onto the ground.
Bang!
Her forehead struck the concrete floor hard.
Zoria clenched her teeth and tried to swallow the painful groan that nearly escaped her mouth.
At that exact moment, she felt a hand being placed on her belly.
Her entire body immediately went stiff, then began trembling violently beyond her control.
The man behind her was breathing heavily. His hand stopped on the raised curve of her belly, and when he spoke, his voice was filled with suspicion.
“Why is this little bitch’s stomach so big?”
He felt her belly one more time. Then he spoke again in surprise.
“She looks like she’s pregnant.”
“Damn it, why is this little bitch’s belly so big? Don’t tell me she has some kind of disease.”
“We’re already a group of sick men ourselves, so why should we be afraid that she has a disease? Hurry up and get it over with. Once the job is done, we can take the money and leave.”
A short distance away, Michael was talking to Faye on the phone. He casually raised his phone, took a picture of Zoria, and sent it over to her.
“Michael, what is it?”
Faye’s voice came through the phone. She sounded somewhat distant and cold. Michael raised an eyebrow and replied in an equally indifferent tone, “I just sent a picture to your inbox. Open it and take a look.”
Faye opened the picture on her phone and stared at it for a long while. The longer she looked at it, the more obvious the happiness in her eyes became.
In the picture, Zoria had been forced to kneel on the ground. Her hair was completely disheveled, her face was deathly pale, and she looked weak, helpless, and miserable.
“You really caught her?”
“Of course I did.” A smug smile spread across Michael’s face. “Do you know what she’s doing right now?”
“What is she doing?” Faye asked back without thinking.
“She’s being taken care of by five men who carry Blood Poison in their bodies.”
A startled cry immediately came from the phone. Although Michael could not see the expression on Faye’s face, he could still imagine how shocked and frightened she must have been when she heard what was happening.
“Weren’t you the one who wanted her to die in the most miserable way possible?”
Faye tightened her grip on the phone until her fingers turned stiff. Her upper and lower teeth were clenched hard against each other. When she had first heard what Michael said, she truly had been horrified. But as soon as she thought about Zoria, she felt that Zoria had brought all of this upon herself.
“You have to deal with everything properly. Clean up the place and don’t leave even the smallest trace behind.”
“Don’t worry, baby.” Michael let out a cold laugh. “When are you going to transfer my money?”
Faye answered, “I’ll transfer it to you sometime within the next two days.”
She fell silent for a short moment, then continued, “Michael, don’t contact me for the next few days. Zephyr and I are preparing for our wedding right now. If I suddenly receive too many calls from unknown numbers, he might start to suspect something.”
The matter had only just been taken care of, and she was already starting to guard herself against him?
A sinister light appeared in Michael’s eyes. He gave a low, quiet laugh.
“Go and prepare for your mating ceremony, then. In a little while, I’ll have everything that happens to Zoria recorded from beginning to end. After that, I’ll send the video to you as a gift. But when I come back, you’d better not forget to reward me properly for everything I’ve done.”
“Michael, I’m hanging up now.”
The call was disconnected at once.
Michael lowered the phone and looked at the words “Recording in progress” displayed on the screen. Then he pressed the stop button in the bottom right corner.
If Faye was going to stay by Zephyr’s side from now on, then how could a mere fifty million possibly be enough to satisfy him?
As long as he kept this recording in his hands, he would have something he could use against her. In the future, no matter how much money he demanded from her, she would have no choice but to give it to him.
“This woman is pregnant.”
Michael vaguely heard someone say those words and immediately turned his head to look behind him. From the moment they started until now, he had not heard Zoria let out even one miserable scream. Could it be that those men still had not made a move?
Michael walked over. Under the dim light, he immediately saw Zoria’s deathly pale face and a pool of blood on the floor. He could not tell whether the blood belonged to her or to one of the five men surrounding her.
His gaze swept across Zoria’s face, then quietly moved down and stopped on her belly without anyone noticing.
Michael suddenly froze.
He quickened his steps and moved closer to her. Zoria’s belly was clearly raised. Beneath her clothes, which had been pulled out of place during the struggle, red and purple veins could be seen under the pale skin stretched across her stomach.
Was she really pregnant?
There was not much surprise in Michael’s eyes. Faye had mentioned something about this before when she was drunk.
At the time, he had assumed that Faye had simply drunk too much and was talking nonsense. He had never expected what she said to be true.
