Chapter 99 Chapter 99
"Wait, What? How can I be an Ardolf? I've heard so many terrible things about them-you. This also makes no sense." I was confused.
"Yes, you've heard so many terrible things about us because you lived in Dark Stone Pack. They'd have painted us terribly. Though we may have just done some of the things they might've claimed we did to fight for our rights. They crushed us, destroyed us so much, took over our land, then they decided to paint us as the bad guys?" Freya scoffed.
"I don't know whatever they might have told you, but I'm certain it's mostly false." Mom said.
"I don't understand; this makes no sense. The things I heard of the Ardolfs are that you were so mean to the pack and Keegan has always mentioned that the Ardolfs ruined his life and life of other pack member like how the Ardolfs killed Mrs. Bea's husband and almost took scarlet life, if I remember correctly."
"Yes, we understand what you mean, but most of those things aren't even true. Or they are just from false interpretations." Dad said.
"For instance, Bea's husband came to us to threaten us to leave them alone after we were trying to carry out our revenge for all they've done to us, but when we didn't agree, he decided to start attacking us and after his attack we couldn't take it anymore and we had to take his life." Mon explained.
"I'm still very confused." How could my parents be Ardolfs?
"Don't be." Free said and the moment she touched me again, being an Ardolf just felt completely normal.
"So from your point of view, you are the good guys. The Ardolfs aren't the terrible people Dark Stone painted you to be?" I wanted to confirm that.
"No, we're not. We never made any move without a reason. None of it would have happened if they didn't come to destroy our land and keep our daughter from us."
"Why'd they make you seem so terrible and not let me know I'm an Ardolf?" I frowned and gazed into their eyes that all seemed to be so genuine.
"Exactly! Why would they not want you to have your surname and make you be Williams? Don't you remember? How did you even become William?" Grandmother asked me.
"I- I don't know." I tried to think of anything at all then a quick flashback popped in my head.
(Flashback)
I walked into the building as a very young child and lifted my gaze to Kate, quivering with a small bag behind me.
"What's your name?' She asked.
"Jane Ardolf." I replied.
"Ardolf?" she frowned then glanced around before leaning closer to me. "No, you're not Jane Ardolf anymore. You are Jane Williams, Okay?" she whispered.
"O-okay." I stuttered, holding onto my bag's shoulder straps really tight. "Jane Williams."
"Yes, Williams, you were never an Ardolf." Her voice was really low and scary.
(End of flashback)
"...I don't know what she did after that, but after that, I don't remember anything again." I explained with a frown etched on my face. "Goodness, they must have really tampered with my memory so much."
"I knew it!" Grandmother exclaimed.
"We all did, because wasn't ordinary that she just forgot us all of a sudden." Dad gruffed.
"Now, please take the vow for revenge." Freya said.
"What do we want now? Do we want revenge against all of them or just a few of them?" I asked.
"Every member of that pack." Mom said through gritted teeth.
"They are all at fault for taking over our land and crushing our happiness. We have to get revenge on everyone of them, not only Keegan, not only Kate, but every single member of Dark Stone Pack." Freya said.
As she said it, fury bubbled in me. I was so mad that they had been painting the Ardolfs as terrible to me. They wanted me to hate my family members for no good reason. I was so pissed off.
I placed my hands over the glass again. "I, Jane Ardolf, vow to get my revenge on Dark stone pack, without hesitation and without distraction. I won't change my mind until we get back what's rightfully ours." I was so determined to fulfill my vow and was really mad at them for putting me in the dark for so long. Thinking about it made my anger towards Keegan fuel more and his stupid fake affection didn't seem like it bothered me again.
A victorious smile played on Freya's lip and Mom pulled me into a hug. "I'm proud of you. We all believe in you."
\- VLADIMIR ~
"I made you breakfast, Vladimir." Chloe said and dropped a tray in front of me, smiling.
I nodded and resumed typing on my phone.
"Aren't you going to eat it?" She frowned and I quirked my eyebrow at her, wondering why she cared.
"I'll eat it later.
"You've been way busy recently and you're not having time to eat or do other things properly. Please just at least take a bite?" she still has her strange smile on.
"Yes, Chloe, I know that I'm very busy and will eat when I choose to. Don't try to force me. Are you my mother?" My tone was frigid to express the fact that she was bothering me.
"Okay, I apologize for trying to force you to eat for your benefit.
"Are you expecting any visitors today?" she asked.
I wondered why she'd care, but I replied. "Yes, Father is going to be coming today. Why?"
"Oh is there anything you need him to do for you?" her tone was casual, like she wanted a regular discussion.
"Chloe, you're acting really suspicious lately."
"No, not at all." She twittered.
I noticed she had been trying to extend conversations between us and she's always trying to attend to my needs way more than normal. It wasn't so bad, but I still felt strange about it. She seemed to be back to acting the way she was always acting when we still had a thing together as sexual partners, but of course I'm Vladimir; I don't spend time on ladies. I only use them for a period, and when I'm tired of them, I get rid of them. That was my lifestyle, but it was so strange that when it was Jane, I was so much interested in her, even after so many months, I still wanted her to be mine. It was crazy, but my wolf was desperate to have and also because he didn't want Keegan to have her. Keegan didn't deserve anything good and I always made sure that remained the same until he had a fast progress with having Jane sooner than I thought.
'Where are you, Vlad?' Dad linked me.
'Are you in the pack town yet?' He asked.
'Yes, I am. Head downstairs now, I have somewhere to go. Don't waste my time.
'okay, Dad, I'll be there soon.' I ended the link and rose to my feet, taking my leave and quickly headed downstairs o meet him.
He was in his normal coat, and of course his hair was stylishly gelled backwards like anyone cared about it being so slick.
"Good afternoon, Dad." I greeted with a smile.
"Good afternoon. When is the next meeting with them?" He asked as we started heading outside.
"I have no idea, but I'll call them soon to confirm."
"It has to be as soon as possible because we really need them to unfold that Omega's powers." He said, not bothering to hide the desperation in his voice.
"Yes, I'm aware of that. I don't just want to make you so suspicious, but I will try to ask them for an update towards unlocking her sealed power."
"That'd be great. I really don't think I will have much time left if I don't get what I need from that bitchy woman as soon as possible." He hissed.
"Dad, please try to be mindful of your words. You know she's going to be my future Luna." I cautioned him with a frown.
He rolled his eyes. "Whatever. As long as we both get what we want from her, then it doesn't really matter. And about Keegan?" she peered into my eyes.
"I don't know what the Ardolfs are planning, but I think they want to use Jane-"
"Jane is their daughter, right?" He cut me off to confirm.
"Yes, she's their daughter."
"Okay. So what are they going to do with her? How are they going to use her against Keegan?"
"We're going to discuss that in the next meeting, but for all I know, they're going to also need Jane's power to destroy him and his reign as Alpha."
"That sounds great." He nodded. "You know, we have to take over the pack of that stupid man, Keegan. We need to get rid of him completely. Remember that his existence is a great barrier to your progress?"
"Yes, it's interrupting me from being the present strongest alpha and to worsen it, he also has the woman I desire to own." I frowned, my hatred for Keegan had swollen in my heart, a hatred that could never end. Neither my father nor I wanted his progress because his progress only brought disaster upon us.
"There are just always more reasons his name makes my vein rise in anger." Dad frowned. "It's not going to be an easy task, but with the help from the Ardolfs, we're definitely going to kill Keegan. That's our main goal, remember that." He said and I nodded in affirmation. A smile crawled up his lips, "that's why you've always remained my favorite son."
"Where is Jane?" I asked Mae and she shrugged.
"I haven't seen her all day. I assumed she was with you." She shrugged.
"With me? No, I thought she was with you and your friends." I frowned, trying to hide the panic cooking up in me.
"No, I haven't seen her since she left to meet you. Where could she be?"
"I have no idea. If I knew where she was, I would definitely not be asking you!" I raised my voice, already feeling uneasy.
"I'm sorry. I just... I'm worried about her too."
I turned around and headed back to her bedroom where Rylee was. She was trying to select something on her iPad but it wasn't working out, so she was groaning frustratedly.
"Rylee," I called in a calmer tone as I walked up to her.
She glanced at me with a frown. "It isn't working when I click on it. See?" she demonstrated by clicking on the screen multiple times.
"Okay, an important question: do you know where Jane is?"
"Jane? I haven't seen her since she left. I've been playing around with Crystal, Ava, and Mae. I was just about to come to her to leave you alone and be with me instead. Is anything wrong?" her emerald eyes were immediately set in panic.
"N-nothing." I lied and sprinted out of the room.
I tried to mind link Jane but he was nowhere in sight and that only heightened my worry.
'Mason, do you have any idea where Jane is?' I mind-linked him.
'No, Alpha. I've been a meeting.' He said and I quickly ended the link and went to search around, asking everyone on my way if they had any idea about her whereabouts.
"Where the hell is the Luna and no one has any idea about her whereabouts?!" I hollered, drawing even more attention to me." Does anyone know where Jane is?" I asked generally, frowning really hard.
Everyone shrugged and glanced at each other like I was one insane man speaking to them.
I let out a frustrated growl and ran my hand over my hair before heading out, trying to pick her scent anywhere.
When I got to the garden, Casper was seated there with another guard.
"Yes, she's sweet too and I think I like her even more." Casper said, grinning.
"Do any of you have any idea where Jane is?" I asked, panting.
"No, not at all." They both replied in unison, shaking their heads.
"All guards, head over to the garden right now!' I ordered and paced around impatiently till a lot of guards were around.
"Alpha, is anything wrong?" Shane asked, coming out of the crowd of guards.
"The Luna is missing!" I announced, still my best to hold back my fear.
"But I just spoke to her a while ago." He looked confused.
"Really? Where is she?" I held his shoulders with a smile of relief.
"She was just-oh, she's right here." He gestured to her behind me.
I turned around, ready to pull Jane into a hug but my smile of relief shattered completely when Mom was heading in my direction instead of Jane.
"What's wrong? I saw the crowd of guards here. Is there a problem?"
"Jane is missing!" I exclaimed, glaring at Shane.
"Oh, that Luna, I apologize for the misunderstanding." He bowed his head.
"Where the hell could she be? What if she's in danger? Who saw her last?" I yelled the last question at everyone.
"I saw her leaving the pack house." Grant raised his hand. It was my shift to guard the gate and she just stormed out. She was crying so much and ran off.
"Why didn't you stop her when you noticed she was sad? What kind of guard are you? You're supposed to look out for the safety and wellness of your Luna!"
"I had no idea that she needed me to stop her and I didn't want to be disrespectful by poking my nose in her business." He bowed his head again.
I let out a frustrated growl and with Drex's internal force, I yelled, " Find her, now! Search for her everywhere.'
"Yes Alpha." They chorused and bowed unison before scattering around.
"What's with this omega and always putting the pack security forces in unnecessary stress by going missing all the time." Mom rolled her eyes and walked of
Wait. Mom? What if she had overheard me speaking to her earlier.
"oh, no, no no no." I shook my head. It could be possible since Grant had said she was crying. This only worsened everything. I had to find her as soon as possible.
I headed out into town, running around with the guards trying to find her.
I tried my best to pick up the trail of her scent then I could finally trace it to a rock. Beyond the rock, her scent ended.
Her scent was really strong around the rock, so it could most likely be the last spot she stayed.
We continued searching for her the next few hours till it was nighttime, yet no sign of Jane anywhere.
I stopped running and overheard two guards speaking with each other.
"I can't believe I'm doing this right now. I have my wife to attend to at home, our baby must be so much trouble to her." He complained..
"I know right? She's nowhere to be found."
I wanted to be mad at them but I realized there was no way they could be as passionate about finding Jane more than me.
'Everyone, you can all head back home now if you're not on duty tonight. If you are, resume your positions." I dismissed them then decided to look for her even more with Mason's help.
A few hours had passed since midnight and though I didn't want to stop searching for her, I had to.
"It'll be fine, I'm certain we'll find her." Mason tried to sound encouraging, patting my back.
My soul was shattered. Where could my Jane be? What was happening to her right now? What state was she in?
'Why'd she be missing?' Drex was equally very despondent.
We headed back home and when I got to my bedroom, Rylee was still wide awake and she was gazing at me with anticipation, tightening her teddy in her hands.
"What happened? Has she been found?" she asked.
I couldn't respond to her and just dropped to the bed, my life felt broken. What if she had overheard me speaking with Mom? What had I done? I didn't know what to do right now, I was so scared. Where was I going to find her?
"Please tell me she's fine?" she asked, gazing into my eyes with hope. I didn't know how to respond to her and remained quiet. She burst into tears, wailing so much. "Nothing must happen to her."
"Nothing will. I'm sure she's fine." I drew her into a hug while she cried her eyes out.
"I knew she was crying but she lied that she wasn't and said it was because she was chopping onions." she sobbed.
"You saw her crying as well? Did she tell you where she was heading to?"
"No," she shook her head in my chest. "She only said she'll be back soon. I hope no one killed her too." she wailed even louder.
"I'm certain she's fine. Stop crying." I stroked her ash brown hair to calm her down.
Jane, where are you?
JANE -
I woke up on a bed of so many flowers and roses, my head hurt so bad as I sat up straight. The entire room was very large and also had varieties of flowers around it that made it look more beautiful. How did I get here? I didn't remember stepping into this room to sleep.
I stood up straight and the door was flung open as Mom walked in. "Jane sweetheart, you're awake." She walked up to me with a few clothes in her hands. "You should have your bath and wear anyone you're comfortable with."
I accepted it then when she took her leave, I left for the bathroom to take a shower. The sweet stinginess of the mark made me wince, missing Keegan so much, it felt like an even greater force attacked me and created a burning hatred towards Keegan. It didn't feel normal, but it felt right.
I left the bathroom and the smell of everything around me seemed stronger as I wore a pair of sweatpants and sweatshirt.
'Hi Jane, please head downstairs for breakfast when you're done.'
Freya mind linked me.
'How can we possibly be linked?'
'Because we're family.' She explained and ended the link.
I tied my hair up into a ponytail then headed downstairs.
The smell of the food felt like it was getting into my lungs. I had a seat beside Darion because that was the only available seat.
"How do you feel this morning?" he asked.
"I have a terrible headache." I complained. "Sorry about that sweetheart." Dad said with a warm smile I felt obliged to return.
"You'll undergo intense training to help you finally have your wolf and probably your powers." Mom said.
"Oh, okay, no problem." I smiled, excited that I was getting closer to actually being embodied with my mate.
Breakfast continued with casual talks and they just seemed really nice, but I knew a part of me wasn't complete, it felt like I had left something, maybe I really missed being with Keegan and the pack, but there was a greater force in me that stopped me from thinking about them and stopped me missing anyone at all for a second after the thought popped in.
This time, training was around so many flowers. And a few bundles of a type of stick were set on fire, so the smoke from the fire filled my nostrils.
I started intense training with Freya and a Man, though he wasn't as hefty as Roger, he still seemed equally scary.
I felt weak multiple times and wanted to faint but training didn't stop.
"Please can I take a break?" I asked them, panting and was very sweaty.
"Training will continue until your wolf is found." The Man said and resumed physical training while Freya performed a few magical activities with the items, making them hover around me.
This went on for hours and just when I dropped to the floor, ready to pass out, I heard a voice in my head, 'Jane, it's done. I'm finally unlocked. It's time for us to be connected.' The voice of my wolf rang in my head then my bones began to crack really painfully and made me scream my lungs out.
