Chapter 91 Chapter 91
"We'll have to get back what Dark Stone stile from us, so you'll need to beware of Keegan and that bitch, Kate." Mother said with fury laced in her tone as she mentioned Kate.
I was about to persuade them even more when an old woman walked into the room and started heading to me with a dude beside her. The guy looked like he was above 6 feet tall and had really strong muscles with ginger hair and dark blue eyes. He looked... good, but of course, not as hot as Keegan.
"Jane?" the woman called, stretching her wrinkled hands to me with tear-filled eyes. "I can't believe this." I noticed that the woman also looked very much like my father.
"Grandmother?" I called for confirmation but it only made her burst into tears.
"My old ears feel blessed to hear you call me that again. Now if I die tomorrow, it'll be of peace."
I smiled, her tears moved my heart and made me feel quite emotional. She pulled me into a warm hug that felt so calming.
"Can we head over for lunch so we don't make Jane feel uncomfortable with these tears?" Dad said.
Grandmother chuckled and pulled away, cupping my face. "I'm so sorry if I make you feel that way, I apologize." Why were old people so cute?
I smiled and held her hand from my face. "It's fine."
Though I wasn't having anything to eat, I appreciated that everyone around the large table was willing and eager to speak with me, especially the children. Many other people surrounded me as well and they made me feel like a damn goddess.
The man who was with Grandma earlier had introduced himself as Darion and had been trying to flirt with me, no matter how many times I mentioned that I had a mate, but there was no way I could shun him completely because he was way too friendly and seemed like a sweet person.
I really appreciated their company so much, but it was getting late and I needed to head back home.
"I appreciate you all but I'd like to leave now."
A few people moaned in complaint at that and it just made me chuckle that they were interested in my presence.
"Do you have to leave now? Can't you spend the night here?" Darion asked.
"Yes please. Spend the night here." The children said.
"I've been sitting here talking with all of you since lunchtime and it's almost past dinner time already, I have to head back home, I'm sorry." I apologized in the most polite way I could.
"We'll have to let Jane go. She'll come back soon, right Jane?" Grandmother asked.
"Of course, I will. You're all very sweet people and I had a wonderful time with you, I'll definitely return."
"Thank you!"
Freya, Dad and Mom (like they had made me start calling them), led me to the door.
"Please Jane, remember to cast off your revenge for mere feelings that make you think Keegan's in love with you." Mother still tried to convince me.
"I insist that there's a misunderstanding." My memory flashed to Keegan and his genuine words and I was certain he liked me. "I can't say it's love yet, but the spark between us is real. Our bond is true." I still insisted.
"Please Jane, don't be too lost him so you don't end up in regret. Remember that there are so many people here hoping for you. You're only a few steps away to completing what you want and becoming the queen of werewolves and witches. And we promise you you'll have a new and better mate that'll actually love you, most likely Darion." Dad said. "Just focus on revenge."
It felt like their words were entering one of my ears and leaving through the second ear because I had a strong conviction that Keegan wasn't as terrible as they thought and he could probably not be the main cause of their problem as they thought.
"I definitely enjoyed my time with you and I feel so great to be the daughter of such sweet parents." I smiled and pulled them into a joint hug.
I could feel the love stirring between us and I was truly grateful to know I had parents, but right now, I wanted to head back to Keegan. I missed him so much Andi was going to have to ensure that the misunderstanding they had of him was going to be resolved.
\- MASON
"Can you please pass my sock?" I asked Crystal but of course, like she had been doing, she acted like she didn't hear me, completely ignoring my existence.
I strode to where she was sitting and pulled her by her arm so she turned to me. "Spit whatever is going on in your head!" I yelled, very furious.
She was still frowning and removed my hand from her, attempting to walk away but I pulled her back.
"I'm not putting up with this nonsense anymore. Let me know what's bothering you. Giving me a silent treatment wouldn't solve the problem."
"What do I have to say? It's not like you'd care because all you ever care about is work and not me." She finally spoke to me for the first time in a few days.
"That's what's been bothering you?
"You don't think it's a big issue! You rarely ever spend time with me. You're always working and acting like work and other things are more important to your life than mw."
"Crystal, you should've told me this earlier. You come first in my life. I'm so sorry if I've made you feel any other way." I pulled her into a hug then arched my back to kiss our baby bump. "Forgive your Daddy for not spending time with you."
"I'm pretty sure you'll still head out of this room and work your ass out."
"I won't. To make it up to you, I'm planning a special reservation for Keegan and Jane. We should go too
"What reservation?" she asked, hiding her interest behind a frown.
"Just a day break from work somewhere that isn't in this pack house and just to spend time with each other."
"That'd be great!" Her frown transformed to a grin; her smile made me feel completely at ease. I could let go of work for a while for her sake. "Uh... Mason, I think it sounds crazy and wrong timing but I'm really craving chocolate. I've been craving dark chocolate lately, but of course, my extremely busy mate has been taking care of something else.
I chuckled and headed out to grab chocolate for her.
When I got to the kitchen, I couldn't stop myself from grinning. I was so glad Crystal was talking to me again. I almost died from her silence.
While I searched around the kitchen for dark chocolate for her, someone tapped me from behind.
I turned around and flinched when I saw Sabrina. Her long dark hair matched her gothic black lipstick on and her extremely pale skin made her dark eyes look way darker.
"How the hell did you get in?" my chest started rising and falling really fast as I glanced around, hoping she wasn't going to be caught. "What do you want?!" I growled at her.
"Nothing much. Actually, I'm here to give you information. I have so many new things popping up, but before I can feed you with any news or information, you'll have to agree to my condition."
"W-what condition?"
"Silly confident man is stammering?" she smirked. "Don't play dumb. My condition hasn't change since last time we met." Her voice was very breathy and remembering her words at our last meeting made me turn cold.
\-JANE -
Rylee and Keegan were playing chess on mine and Keegan's bed ( turns out she also liked board games O much. What the heck was so interesting about it?) Rylee, being the pretty smart young child she was, challenged Keegan, claiming that her parents had taught her to play the game well enough after she had shown a lot f interest in it as a child.
I didn't want to feel left out so I was sitting between Keegan's legs with my head on his chest while he wrapped an arm around me and played the game with his other hand. Of course, I was supporting Rylee though I didn't really understand what was going on in the game.
I had successfully returned from my parents' house and had to go to bed before Keegan returned from Crescent pack. I wanted to let him know about the revenge and my parents but I didn't want to place him in any weird position I neither did I want to break the newly found relationship with my parents. I was just going to try to figure out the misunderstanding and resolve the differences without hurting anyone's feelings.
"Can we go to a playground tomorrow?" Rylee asked us in between the game.
"Tomorrow?" I repeated. "Sure-"
"Actually, no. Jane and I are going to be on a break, so we're going to leave this pack house, just to enjoy ourselves."
"Really? It's tomorrow? Where is it?" I lifted my head to him.
"It's not far from here. It's just a duplex a few buildings away from the pack house. It's meant for high ranked pack members that are eligible to live in this mighty pack house but want to enjoy privacy and not live with others in the house, so they can live there."
"So people can do that?"
"Yup. It's a beautiful place and it's free, especially for really high ranked members like us."
"That's so cool. I can't wait to see it tomorrow. It'll feel like being alone at the beach house again." I sighed, already loving it.
"Actually, no. Mason has been working so much lately, so he and Crystal would be joining us. There are over 4 bedrooms there and rather than making the workers clean another building for Crystal, they'll just clean the house for tomorrow so four of us can be there. There'll still be privacy because the rooms we'll stay in are far apart."
"Can I come too?" Rylee asked with a grin.
"No, you can't." He stated firmly.
"But why?" she pouted. "Will you leave me all alone here?"
"No, I'll make sure Mae watches over you. You'll be fine." He patted her head.
"Will I be able to go with you next time?"
"Next time, we'd also want to enjoy privacy, so no." He asserted and her smile turned upside down. "How about this? We'd go on a special vacation with you some other time, you'll buy so many toys and buy everything you want, we'll have fun, it also doesn't have to be far away." Keegan said.
"Really?!" Her eyes glimmered.
"Yes."
"Thank you!" she squealed and wrapped her small arms around Keegan's neck, kissing his cheeks.
He only chuckled with a warm smile ever and kissed her forehead. "
You're welcome, little princess."
"Little princess?" I wondered where that came from.
"Yes, she said her father always called her that and forced me to start calling her little princess, because of course, she's a very manipulative young child." He said and I chuckled again, extremely glad that he loved her.
"I'll head to bed now. I can't wait for tomorrow!" I planted a kiss on Keegan's cheek and laid on the bed while he covered me with the duvet.
"Goodnight." he placed a kiss on my cheek. "Dream about me." He said then resumed his game.
How could he be as bad as my family members painted him? I really liked Keegan the way he was, I didn't even think 'like' could fit as the word to what I felt for him; the sparks were undeniable and irresistible, his embrace was my greatest comfort and his absence frustrated the hell out of me. I didn't want to lose him over something that was definitely a misunderstanding.
My mind kept racing through different thoughts, especially about Chloe and my family members that had mentioned that I had a locked up gift. Could I really be as powerful as they were mentioning? I had to discover that.
Could I now speak to my wolf? I tried to connect with my wolf but to no avail.
I spent the next few minutes, folded under the sheets, still pondering om different thoughts while trying to listen to Rylee and Keegan's conversation at short intervals because they just kept laughing at whatever either Keegan or Rylee was saying. The attention Keegan was giving to her actually confirmed that he loved children because he was bringing life out of some the boring things she was saying.
After a few more minutes, she yawned and decided she wanted to head to bed. I turned and watched as Keegan carried her in his arms and left the room. After a while, he returned and rolled into the sheets beside me.
"You aren't asleep yet?" he asked rhetorically and turned off the lights and wrapped an arm around my waist to pull me closer to him.
All my worries immediately wash off from his warmth and placating lavender scent.
"I couldn't bring myself to sleep. I was too stressed out." I sighed, placing my arm over his.
"Why not? You were waiting for my attention before you could sleep?" I couldn't see his face but I could tell he smirked. "Maybe yes, maybe no." I fiddled with his fingers. "Anyway, how was your day today?"
"I'll let you know how my day went. Hopefully, it'll make you fall asleep because it was so boring. It first started with..."
To my surprise, I didn't fall asleep immediately but was instead very attentive to listening to how his day went for the next few minutes. I only fell asleep when he became silent and just stroked my arm non-stop, it made me feel really tingly till darkness overtook my vision.
I still felt really terrible, the awkward pain and strange feeling in me was growing even worse.
All four of us were watching a movie together and we had planned to watch something romantic. It felt so strange to be close to Crystal and Mason as a couple but Keegan cared less, pulled me close to him while I was and when I rested my head on his chest with his arms wrapped around me, I didn't care to feel shy again.
Crystal and Mason were on the chair opposite to us, also being cuddly as they watched the movie.
The only thing that made me hide my face in his chest when I blushed because he wasn't going to stop kissing me at short intervals.
We watched a couple of movies over popcorn, chips, and drinks that had been pre-ordered. Crystal and I were enjoying the movie more than these grumpy men but they were only putting up with it for our sake.
"Uh... Jane?" Keegan suddenly pulled away and I gazed at him, indirectly asking what was wrong. "I've just been mind linked that I have to attend to an emergency at the town center. I'm sad to leave you now, but I have to. Stay safe and don't miss me too much." He rose to his feet and my body began to feel strange again. I wanted to tell him to come back but just washed him walk out of the house.
It felt so terrible that he had just left and the crazy feeling in my body became even worse and was starting to make me feel very lethargic.
