Chapter 49 Chapter 49
"Jane!" Mrs. Anderson banged on the door.
"I'm coming!" I quickly rushed to the door and tookone glance at Alpha Keegan with his arms folded across his chest, still not taking his eyes off me. I opened the door in a small space and squeezed myself out of it to avoid questions or suspicions from her.
"What's wrong with you? Why didn't you- your face is all red and you look like you're about to have a panic attack." She frowned, drawing her eyes in askance.
I still hadn't regained my breath or the ability to talk, so I just shook my head negatively.
"Anyway, head over to this address and let her know you're from Pam, she'll understand and give you what I need from her," she instructed and passed a piece of paper to me.
I nodded, quickly grabbed the paper, scurried out of her presence, and out of the house.
George was watering the grass and shot daggers at me when he noticed my presence.
"Good morning, Mr. Anderson." I bowed my head. Of course, he didn't respond to me, so I quickly skipped away. When I had left his presence and had panted well enough to catch my breath, only then did I glance at the paper to check the address of where I was heading to.
"This seems like it's just a few buildings away." I assumed and started heading in the direction of the buildings that weren't surrounded with as much grass and bushes as the Andersons.
Remembering Alpha Keegan's strangeness and how he called me hot and pretty made a grin form on my face, I squealed in excitement, feeling heat rush to my face again. "So he thinks I'm hot and my kiss affected him so much?" That felt like a big accomplishment that was going to remain in my memory forever.
His face and sexy body rang in my head. What if Pam hadn't come at that time? What would've happened? What deeper emotions would've been unveiled? My curiosity was eating me up really badly. I palmed my cheeks to cover the blush they exposed.
My thoughts kept wandering through the excitement and how adorable, attractive, and loving Alpha Keegan's gentle side was when a gloved hand came over my face from behind me and my nose and mouth were covered with a piece of cloth. I tried to scream, but to no avail. A smell hit my nose and total black out came upon me.
\- KEEGAN ~
The omega was now the only thing on my head and I wasn't feeling the need to hide my emotions around her as much as I was used to. I couldn't believe I was grinning like a child. The omega affected me so much and the most strange part about it was that I didn't bother, I knew I felt like I was going crazy, but this craziness was one to be enjoyed.
'What sort of feeling is this?' I consulted Drex.
'Who cares? As long as it makes us feel good, does it matter?'
I rolled my eyes at him with a smile still playing on my lips. Remembering her kiss made my head swirl in genuine excitement, a feeling I hadn't experienced in almost a decade. Her lips on mine just had to be the most amazing thing I had ever experienced in my life.
I had to force myself to clear my thoughts of the omega, though it couldn't happen completely, I was able to regain a bit of focus back to attend to my work. It was going to take the next few hours and I needed full concentration, so I shut the door, hoping that she was either going to be with Pam or talk with Scarlett since they were friends and would definitely have something to talk about, whether or not it was relevant.
I had been working on this paperwork and the pack data on my laptop for a while now and realized there was an issue with the pack's finances. A lot of money wasn't accounted for multiple times and I was going to deal with that as well as other issues when we returned home.
"That's enough for today." I sighed and shoved the papers back into the bag, shutting the laptop as well.
A chiming sound came from my phone on the couch. I rose up and sauntered to it with a message from Desmond pack that a meeting was going to be hosted in their pack this week in order to fight against the predicted upcoming attack.
I groaned and rolled my eyes. 'You don't have to go if you don't want to.' Drex shrugged.
'I have to. Remember the stupid contract signed. It's annoying because I signed it just to know Vladimir's motives, but still didn't get any information regarding him.'
'Exactly! Didn't Mason derive more information? He hasn't reported anything regarding Vladimir since we visited Night Shadow pack.' He brought that to my notice and I nodded in realization
"That's right. Mason never spent this much time to derive at least a piece of information. I have to ask him about it.
I cut Drex off and opted to mind link Mason, ignoring the distance. 'Mason,' I called him.
"Good afternoon, Alpha. Are you almost here already or you're still on the road?'
'Not yet. I had to attend to the work I have here, so it doesn't become bulky for me when I return.'
'Oh... okay. Then do you need anything?'
'Yes. I remembered that you haven't reported any information regarding Vladimir.'
'I've been trying to, but there isn't any obvious information and I'm trying to prevent jumping into conclusions to avoid unprofessionalism and leading us into trouble for misinformation.'
'Okay, just-'
'However, I figured out that-'
He was interrupted by Scarlett rudely getting into my head, 'Keegan, lunch is served. Mom's calling you downstairs.'
'Seriously?!' I snapped at her and cut her off, trying to reach Mason again but was unable to.
"Why can't I reach out to him?" I groaned and opted for my phone, dialing his phone number. It rang multiple times without an answer then when I called his phone again, it was switched off. "That's strange. Mason's phone is never switched off."
My stomach growled a bit and I realized I was actually hungry. I had been distracted this morning by staring at the omega so I couldn't eat my breakfast and only ate a small portion when she left.
My mind raced back to the omega and a smile appeared on my face. I felt the need to have her in my arms and the need to kiss her ran through my body in a deeper hunger than food could satisfy.
In a haste to see her again, I headed downstairs and to the dining table.
George, Pam, and Scarlett were seated on the chairs and having their lunch like a normal family. However, my omega wasn't there.
'Guess she's probably still upstairs or in a bathroom or something.' Drex assumed.
Staring around, I pulled a chair to sit on and began to eat my meal, still glancing up the stairs, expecting her to walk down any minute from now.
"Is there a problem, Alpha?" George asked, lifting his gaze to me without raising his head.
"No- actually, yes. The omega isn't here. Wasn't she called for lunch?"
"I called you and I expected you to call her for lunch since she seems to always be around you," Scarlett replied, her last words came out in a very cold tone.
"I actually thought she'd be with you, maybe you were both having one of your unnecessary girl talks." Confusion kicked in me.
"What? No, I haven't seen her since she left the kitchen this morning."
"Where is she?" I asked Pam, remembering she had called her earlier.
"I sent her on an errand and the item she had grabbed for me was on the table so I assumed she dropped it there and was with you." She looked equally confused.
"I saw her leaving the house when I was watering the grasses this morning, and no Pam, the items were brought here by Carla's daughter and I dropped them on the table when she gave them to me." George clarified.
"So..." I chortled in confusion and rose to my feet," you mean 'my omega' hasn't been seen by anyone this morning and no one cared?!" a strange combination of fury and worry ran up my body system.
"We thought she was with you." Scarlett defended. "Where did she head to?" I yelled at Pam.
"I have no-oh, Clara's? Yes, I had asked her to go to Clara's house?"
"Where is it?" My veins had popped out of my neck and head.
"I'll take you there." Scarlett rose to her feet, pushing her chair backwards.
I ran my fingers through my hair with a deep breath, trying to hold in my fear and frustration while Scarlett took a gulp of the water in her glass- the short moment she did that made me feel like hitting her head against a wall for wasting any more time.
She headed out of the house then started leading the way.
Her steps felt too slow to me, increasing my exasperation.
"Don't you know how to walk any faster? She's nowhere to be found and you're still strolling like a damn snail!" I hollered at her, causing her to flinch. "Okay," she nodded with widened eyes and started running while I followed behind her. Her steps still felt very slow, but I tried to ignore, hoping that the omega was actually at Clara's or somewhere we were going to find her.
'Nothing must happen to our mate. I can't believe we and Pam could've been so stupid to let her go on an errand in a town she has no idea about.'
'I know right? Nothing must happen to her at all. I'm certain I'd go crazy if she's in danger.'
The run to Clara's house was very short and when we arrived, Scarlett rang the doorbell while I paced around impatiently. When the door was flung open, a woman who looked like she was in her mid-forties came out of the house with a warm smile on. "Hey Scarlett- and oh, your boyfriend's her too! Hi Keegan."
"Was Jane here?" I asked her with a frown. "Jane? Who's Jane?" she knitted her eyebrows at me.
"Jane, a friend of mine. She has really light hair and dark blue eyes. Mom had asked her to come pick up some things here" Scarlett explained. "No one came here, at least not anyone with that description. I expected Pam to come over but since she didn't, I sent Sarah to your house. Is someone missing?" She drew her eyebrows together in concern?
"This makes no sense. She's missing again. Where am I supposed to search for her?" I dug my hands in my hair, feeling more frustrated than ever, like I was about to go crazy. "Keegan, please calm down." Scarlett held my arm. I ignored her and started running back in the direction of the house, wondering where she could've gone or who could've taken her away.
I was almost close to the house again when her scent hit my nose really hard and made me stop in my tracks, heightening my nose sensitivity. A piece of paper was on the ground which I picked and her scent surrounded it. It was the address of Clara's house scribbled on the paper.
I tried to follow the trace of her scent from there but it was leading to nothing, still I searched for the next few minutes.
"Have you found her yet?" I asked Scarlett when I caught up with her and she shook her head.
"Not even a single sign of her anywhere." Worry was starting to form in her face as she turned around muttered to herself, "why does she always have to be missing?" It was very low but I still heard her and it kicked my anger up to a higher level. Once again, I ignored Scarlett and continued searching for the omega. My head hurt so bad as different thoughts on the possibility of what could be happening to her ran through my head.
A sudden and forceful interruption got into my head from Mason, 'ALPHA! THE PACK IS BEING ATTACKED AGAIN. IT'S WAY TERRIBLE AND BEYOND MY CONTROL OR ANYONE'S CONTROL!'
