Chapter 217 Can You Forgive Me
The first thing Rebecca did after getting her phone was to check her browsing history. She was certain she had seen a similar design somewhere before.
She regretted speaking up so quickly earlier.
She should have just voted for Lightning Speed , then slapped the concrete evidence in Gavin's face afterward. She'd like to see how he could have the nerve to defend himself then.
What she hated most in life were plagiarists, especially the kind who copied so shamelessly!
Rebecca only had a vague impression that she'd seen it on some design forum.
Although she didn't have a photographic memory, when she first saw that design, it had really caught her eye and left a deep impression.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have stared at Acacia's work for so long earlier.
After searching for a while without finding it, Rebecca decided to go home and check her computer.
Even if she didn't need to give Gavin an explanation, she'd have something to say when Patrick asked, so she wouldn't give anyone ammunition against her.
Walking aimlessly out of the Azure Water Bay exhibition hall, Rebecca looked around and couldn't help but sigh.
Everyone who came here was either rich or powerful, and without exception, they all drove their own luxury cars.
Or they had someone pick them up when the exhibition ended.
Rebecca had been kicked out, and right now, the driver at home probably hadn't even left yet.
She called the driver and told him to come pick her up now. Rebecca turned to look at the distant coastline and walked forward leisurely.
A car zoomed past, Rebecca's instinct kicked in, she spun round – took one look, then turned back to keep strolling.
In the Ferrari behind her, it seemed as if Rebecca's cold glance had stung him.
Dennis hit the gas pedal and roared past Rebecca, then drifted to a stop right in front of her.
The door creaked open. Dennis locked eyes with Rebecca, his gaze intense, and said, "Get in. We need to talk."
Rebecca took a step back. "Whatever you have to say, just say it here."
Dennis's expression darkened. "Becca, are you afraid of me?"
Having grown up together, Dennis knew Rebecca's playful and clever nature better than anyone.
She never did things that put herself at a disadvantage. If someone annoyed her, she would only hit back harder until the other person was fuming inside.
With him, she was even more so.
In Dennis's mind, Rebecca was all smiles and sass – throwing tantrums, saying "Dennis, I hate you!" like she loved him, and he was the only one who could fix it.
Then Rebecca would turn around and run off in a huff.
A few days later, after being coaxed, she'd turn back into that sweetly smiling Becca.
But now, there was no more smile on her face or in her eyes. When she looked at him, her gaze was guarded, as if he were the type of person she used to hate most, and she urgently wanted to stay away from him.
"Becca..."
Getting out of the car and walking right up to Rebecca, Dennis looked down at her and said, "If I say I'm sorry, can you forgive me?"
Afraid that Rebecca would immediately say, "I won't forgive you," Dennis quickly continued, "Becca, I know we can't go back! I know I've made mistakes again and again, and you're completely disappointed in me! But Becca..."
His voice grew hoarse. Dennis looked at Rebecca stubbornly and said, "I just care about you too much!"
"What happened, I won't make excuses for what I did wrong. But Becca, I don't want you to hate me. Even if we can't go back to how sweet things were before, I don't want you to be afraid of me, to avoid me. Becca, please, for the sake of all the years we spent together, forgive me one more time, just this last time, okay?"
The cold and arrogant him at the hotel.
The calculating him at the Blue Bar.
The fierce and violent him at the hospital, and the apologetic and remorseful him standing before her now.
Rebecca couldn't tell which face was his real one.
It turned out that all along, she had never really seen him clearly.
How ridiculous.
"Dennis, I..."
Rebecca had just started to speak when a shout came from behind her, accompanied by footsteps. "Rebecca!"
She paused mid-sentence. Rebecca turned around and saw Jessica hurrying toward her.
Dennis's face instantly darkened.
