Chapter 326 Takes time
“You are overthinking this,” Telraamon told him as he sat with him on the bench.
“I am, and I’m not. Nix is pissed at the moment.” Aarshon told him, looking at the flowers around him.
“I heard.” Telraamon laughed, “Sometimes we say things we really shouldn’t.”
“Isn’t that the truth? I don’t recall saying anything to her that was horrible, though. I know I did say something horrible to my mother.” Aarshon sighed, knowing that he had to say he was sorry for her.
“I heard that too,” Telraamon told him. “Maybe you should take Nix on a vacation. It might help her to relax a little.”
“It is possible,” Aarshon told him with a smile. “We need to get things settled a little.”
"I think you should tell your mother you are sorry. It matters that you understand that you were wrong, and that you spoke out of turn and hate." Telraamon held up a hand to stop him from speaking. "In that moment, it might not have felt that way, but it was. Rayne isn't going to forgive you just because you say you are sorry. She lost her child for two years; granted, she has other children. The thing is, Xylia was her first daughter, the one that she could raise and be with all the time. With you, she missed out on many things because she had been kicked out of the realm. In many ways, Xylia was Rayne's first child."
Aarshon hadn't thought of it that way. Rayne had missed most of his childhood, missing so many of his firsts. He cursed under his breath when he looked up to see Telraamon chuckling at him.
"I see you understand now." Telraamon looked at Aarshon, seeing the understanding in his eyes.
"Yes, but I don't understand the Nix side of it," Aarshon spoke, then cursed. "Shit, Rayne is like her best friend. No wonder she is pissed."
"You finally figured it out." Telraamon stood turning toward the exit of the garden. "I would suggest speaking to both women."
Aarshon just nodded as he sat in the garden alone again. He needed to figure this out and how to say he was sorry. His mother would most likely be alright with a sorry. Nix, on the other hand, he didn't think she would give in that easily. When he looked up again, he saw his daughter walking toward him. Ailive looked lost, but anger was boiling behind her eyes.
"It is great to see you up and moving around. This has been a hell of a year." Aarshon told her when she stood in front of him. "Sit with me."
"Dad, did you really say that Grandma she had other children?" Ailive asked, looking at him with fire in her eyes.
"I did, and I feel horrible about it now. The stress of the last few weeks had been horrible for all of us. We thought we had lost you, then we might lose your sister. Mom was always worried only about Xylia. I know that is normal for a mother, but it bothered me that she didn't think of the others. It never dawned on me that she would be more worried about her because she was like her first child. Even though I am her first child. I let the stress take over and said things I shouldn't have." Aarshon looked up at his daughter, seeing that she understood.
"That makes sense, actually." Ailive sat beside him on the bench. "I am worried about Lindaat as well."
"The Goddess said that she will be alright, but will go through some changes. Your mother has to leave the realm for a while, something to do with the changes she will be going through. However, she didn't tell me what the changes were. She also said that you aren't the same as you once were. She isn't happy that her plans have been messed up. I failed you and your sister. I couldn't protect you from this," Aarshon looked at his daughter. "I am so sorry, I wasn't strong enough to stop this."
"Dad, you couldn't have the action of a man that had no heart. It shocks me that his realm hadn't started to fade with the hate in him. I know that I am different, and it bothers me. I didn't mean to upset Xylia and make her leave. It was my choice to offer my light to her, and now I am upset about it." Ailive felt tears on his cheeks. "I want to be me again."
Aarshon pulled her into a hug, letting her cry. He felt Nix before she appeared in the garden. When she saw Ailive, she walked over,, sitting on her other side, hugging her as well.
"Nix, I never..." He started, but she stopped him.
"I overheard what you said to her. I can also understand what happened. It is hard on all of us. I am sure that Sage and Sylven would feel the same way about the girls. I am always worried about them, but not the others. I think it is partly because I know Sage and Sylven have others to help them if needed. Granted, they grew much faster than the girls. I didn't have the chance to really worry about them." Nix sniffled as she spoke. "I am sure your mother would say the same thing about her kids. You just spoke what everyone else wouldn't."
"I never should have said that. It is the stress getting to me, and I don't want to feel the pain I had when I thought I lost my daughter." Aarshon's voice broke when he spoke. "Nix, the goddess has said that Lindaat will be alright, but changed."
"Changed how?" Nix straightened on the bench.
"She didn't say, but did say that you would have to leave the realm for a little while," Aarshon didn't want to lie to his wife.
"I can't leave her." Nix almost whispered into the garden.
"I know it won't be easy. Also, she suggested giving the hag to Brigid." Aarshon smiled at the thought of his aunt having the hag.
"Oh, that is a great idea. Wonder why I didn't think of it before." Nix pulled the orb out of thin air, then tapped the top like she had been told to do if she wanted to send it to someone. She sent a note with the orb to let Brigid know what was going on. A moment later, a message came back, thinking Nix for the gift. "She seems happy to have the orb."
"I am sure she is. No telling what she will do to the hag. Can't say I feel bad for her." Ailive explained as she stood. "I think I am going to go check on Lindaat then head to bed. I am sure that Dakaath is going insane without me by his side."
"He didn't leave your side when this happened. Broke his hands trying to get to you." Nix explained to her. "He truly loves you, and I am glad you found someone like that."
"I was told about his hands." Ailive told them.
