Chapter 323 Alive, but...
He looked up when he heard someone come into the room.
“Xylia?” Telraamon looked at the young woman who entered the room, looking sad and happy at the same time.
“Yes, I came to check on Lindaat. To much hate in the other room. Until Ailive wakes, I don’t think Nix will want me around for a while.” Xylia walked around the bed to sit on the other side to take Lindaat’s hand. “She is warm at least.”
“Yeah, she only hit her head. Aarmeris healed the wound. I think she will be fine.” Telraamon told her with a smile. “I am glad they found you, by the way.”
“I am too. I didn’t like where I was. It was horrible, and it left me with no family. Nothing. I missed so much.” Xylia looked to him, then to Lindaat. “Are you two a couple?”
“No,” Telraamon told her with a smile. They both turned toward the door when it opened.
“Ailive!” Xylia was frozen with fear as she looked at her. Ehlark entered the room after coming to Xylias side.
“Is she alright?” Ailive asked, her voice a whisper. Dakaath was at her side, helping to hold her up.
“She is resting.” Telraamon looked toward her, then to Lindaat.
“Xylia, why are you in here?” Ailive asked, looking from her to Lindaat.
Xylia stood, feeling her heart breaking. Ehlark put an arm around her waist, pulling her into his body. Tears filled her eyes as she walked away from the bed, through the door. This was going to be her new life. Away from her family. Never to know what love was anymore.
“Xylia, you know she is just upset. Give her time.” Ehlark told her as she led him to her room.
“I know, but it doesn’t change the hurt,” Xylia told him as she entered her room. It didn’t have the same feel anymore. Maybe she needed to leave. Get away from this place, go back to the human world. “I think I am going to leave.”
“Leave?” Ehlark asked, looking shocked.
“Go back to the human world,” Xylia told him, knowing that he couldn’t follow, which broke her heart more.
“Xylia I love you, but I can’t live in the human world,” Ehlark told her, turning her toward him. When he looked into her eyes, the pain was all he saw. Ehlark held her close, letting her feel his love.
“Even in the human world, I don’t think I would be welcome,” Xylia told him with a half sob.
“Then come to the forest with me. You will be welcome there. No one would bother you there. We would have a home there, away from all of this. Come with me now, you don’t need any of this.” Ehlark waved a hand at all the things she had in the room.
“I have to agree with you, a few of the things I do want, however.” Xylia moved toward her small chest of drawers to grab a bag. Putting in it a stuffed bat. Then she put a few clothes along with some books. Then she thought about something and sighed. “I have to go to the human world.”
“For the human blood,” Ehlark told her with a smile.
“Yes.” Xylia sighed as she started to put the stuff back.
“It is taken care of, my love,” Ehlark told her as he pulled her into his arms. “Let's go.”
With that, Xylia grabbed her things, leaving the castle with Ehlark. It was a new adventure to add to her already messed-up life. She had no idea what she would do with her life. Would any of them really miss her after what she had done? Xylia really didn’t think they would. Ailive didn’t want her around anymore. Not that she could blame her. She had killed her, even though she didn’t want to do it. Xylia would have never done such a thing on purpose.
“Ehlark, why are you doing this? I mean, saving me costs you so much.” Xylia asked as they traveled back to the forest castle.
“Xylia you didn’t cost me anything. My father was stupid to think that doing what he did would make me stop loving you.” Ehlark told her with a chuckle.
“You really love me.” Xylia smiled brightly at him.
“That is the first real smile you have had since I found you,” Ehlarl told her when they stopped at the stone village.
“At least the village is still here, I really thought I had gone so dark that I distorted everything,” Xylia told him with a sigh.
When she came up to the village, she smiled. Moving her hand to add a few more homes. A small river appeared a moment later, and when she looked around, she saw the fairies laughing and dancing around the river.
“You amaze me Xylia.” Ehlark told her as he pulled her up to him.
“I amaze myself,” Xylia told him as she looked into his seafoam green eyes. She could see the love there, but something else hid in him. Worry, maybe, but it was there.
“Scared?” Ehlark asked when he was bent toward her.
“A little, but I know I have you with me,” Xylia told him with a smile, meeting him halfway. Their lips meet in a kiss. When she stepped away, she smiled. “Let's go.”
They traveled the rest of the night, just making it to the castle by daybreak. Ehlark told the servants not to tell anyone that they had arrived or that they were in the castle. Ehlark showed Xylia to a room so she could sleep. Then went to his room. It was nice to sleep in his own bed. He really wanted her with him, but didn’t want her to think that she had to sleep with him.
Half asleep, he thought he was dreaming when he felt a hand on his chest. A moment later, a body slid into the bed beside him. Ehlark turned onto his side, pulled her close to his body, warming her up. Feeling her shiver against him. Was he dreaming or had she really come into his room?
“Xylia?” It was a whisper, not wanting to break the dream if it was one.
“I didn’t want to be alone.” She told him as she lay on the bed with him, pulling the blanket over her body.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Ehlark asked, kissing her bare shoulder. He felt her shiver as he wrapped his arm around her waist.
“I didn’t want you to think that I wanted anything more than that,” Xylia told him, feeling like an idiot. Loving the feel of his lips on her body.
“You're scared of being alone?” Ehlark asked, worried that she would do something stupid.
“Yes,” Xylia told him as she turned onto her back to look at him. She could see his fear in his eyes.
“Why?” Ehlark asked, running his hand down her arm.
“I can still hear their voices in my head. Hear Ailives screams. I fear that I will never stop hearing it.” Xylia shivered at his touch. “They don’t want me around them anymore.”
