Chapter 58 Eat me up

Chapter 58 Eat me up
Landon.

“This is what happens when you date girls I don’t approve. She got caught with drugs, you know how it’s going to look in a couple  of years when you are big, when people talk about your ex, they will mention Zara. The drug addict and that’s not a good look on you, they will bring up controversial topics and ask if you shared a blunt with her through your dating time.” Dad spoke.

The news got to Dad, by now it had gotten to everyone in the town, someone made an anonymous call, and at that same time, principal Heather made the call to the cops and Zara’s parent, she had the janitor search her locker and she found drugs, it didn’t stop there, she also found money.

She had reasons to believe Zara was selling, she knew calling the cops was the best idea, they came with their sniffing dogs, Elara and I saw them after school, and now it’s eight in the evening and we just found out. They found tons do drugs in five different lockers.

“Did you know she was doing any of this?”

“It was after we broke up.” I lied

“Good, if it’s a lie, you better stick with it because someone sold those drugs to that girl and she was able to sell them, it’s a good thing she didn’t sell any to those middle schoolers and only her high school mate, it would have been deadly, we are trying to find out who sold the drugs to Zara and everybody will have to speak to the cops.”

“Everyone.” I asked.

“We are all Involved.”

The way he said we annoyed me, it was almost as if he was a part of this, he knew he wasn’t. The police won’t  even care for him, they will care for the rest of us, maybe soemone heard something, or knows someone that should know where Zara got it from.

“Rehab, she won’t be jailed, her mom is doing everything she can, she better pray she got the drugs from someone  in this town, if it’s outside the town, her mom won’t be able to save her, he safest bet, home school, finish high school and take her far away form this place, you should see the way everyone looks at her mom.” Mom said and I nodded.

“When was the last time you saw her?” Dad asked.

I turned to look at Mason, if he doesn’t tell, someone will the Dad.

“When she found Mason drunk, she was the one that drove him home”.

“For fucks sake, now I have to take care of this mess, you are in your prime Mason. You should not be involved in any of this, the moment your name is being called, everyone will know and then news cast, I don’t need any of that.” Dad yelled.  “They will keep things quite, you are still in the competition and she may not be a part of the team but she is a part of that school and the last thing we need is a scandal involving our town, I will make sure it’s all quite.” He said

If I wasn’t here and Mason was somewhere else, he won’t care about Zara, he won’t care if she get burned or dragged out into the mud.

We listened to him yell over and over again, by the time he was done, he wanted us out of his sights, I had a feeling I know where she got her drugs, it’s within the town, and it had to be from an older kid.

Fuck.

The last thing I wanted is a to have conversations with the cops, I don’t need to get involved in all of this.

Elara and I were set to meet at the woods, I picked her up three blocks away from her home and we made our way to my favorite spot. I had the blanket on the ground as she rested her head on my chest.

“We need to keep our relationship low Landon.” She finally said.

“Is this about Zara and the cops.”

“Principal Heather knows and even if it’s not her business but if she can find out. So can my parents and  yours and that’s the last thing we need, I know your father is involved with the police and they will want to speak to you about Zara.”

“They won’t , he will make sure of it” I stated, “he can pay them off and make sure no one even mentions me ever being with Zara but Elara, they would want to speak to her.”

“They won’t ask about our relationship, no one will bother.”

“They won’t, but fuck I don’t want my parents to time out and I don’t trust principal Heather, she knows I have even cutting class and she knows you have to, she may not say a word to you or your father, but she won’t hesitate to tell my parents, I trust her not to do a thing at the moment but, what if she does.” I mumbled. “The whole school already knows something is going on, I don’t want that. With Zara gone, eyes will be on us, everyone will want to be in our business and it’s a small town. What’s going to happen if someone overhears someone else talking about us, your father is not going to take it.”

Wait is she

She won’t

“What.” I pressed my lips against each other.

“What are you suggesting Elara.” I asked.

“A dramatic  fake breakup, no one will care about what is going on, they may be curious but the thing with Zara will make them forget all about it, we will be more careful till gradation.” She said and I smiled at her

A fake breakup, that  sounded  about right and It will reduce the chances of Mason getting drunk and blabbering to Dad about it and I love the idea of sneaking around.
