Chapter 386 William Holds the Desk with One Hand and Presses Her Head with the Other
William politely glanced at Grace. "I'll go upstairs to check on Thalia."
Grace was pleased with William. This man was very polite and showed proper respect to his elders.
In today's situation, if it were an heir from an ordinary family, they probably would have rushed upstairs directly.
Yet William, who didn't need to please anyone, still politely asked for her opinion.
Vaughn really raised his child differently.
Back when William's birth mother abandoned her husband and child, Vaughn never said a single bad word about her.
"Keep it down," Grace reminded him.
A flash of embarrassment crossed William's eyes.
He nodded and headed upstairs.
The study door on the third floor was wide open. Thalia was standing on a chair, having already gone through almost half the books on the shelf. Perhaps not finding what she was looking for, she was muttering irritably to herself.
William stared at her back for a long, long time, so long that most of his emotions from coming here had faded.
Her black pencil skirt outlined her perfect figure. A hair clip she'd found from somewhere held her hair up casually.
If that pencil skirt were any shorter, she'd be exposed.
"What are you looking for?"
The sudden voice startled Thalia, and the book in her hand crashed to the floor. "William, you scared me!"
William apologized and walked over to pick up the book and hand it to her. "What are you looking for? Need help?"
"Don't trouble yourself, I can handle this small thing myself," Thalia spoke sarcastically, her words full of dissatisfaction with William.
"Are you angry?"
Thalia didn't respond to William's question, just kept herself busy. The man didn't get angry either, looking up at Thalia standing on the chair. "What are you looking for? I'll help you."
"Looking for naked photos of other men. You'll help me with that too?"
William knew Thalia was angry and deliberately saying things to hurt him.
If he followed her lead and argued with her, tonight would be ruined.
"Sure, I'd like to see what kind of man you're so hung up on, so I can learn from him."
She looked down at William, her lips pressed thin. "It's natural talent. You can't learn it."
"Like what?" William asked.
Thalia snorted, deliberately saying things to upset him. "Your cock's size."
William was speechless.
Thalia added, "Don't worry! Technology isn't advanced enough now, but when it is, I'll donate some money for you to get it fixed."
William stepped forward, grabbed Thalia by the waist, and pulled her down from the chair, placing her on the only empty spot on the desk.
His hands gripped the edge of the desk as he looked her in the eye.
"I know I should admit when I'm wrong. Today I was wrong first. I didn't do what I promised you. Let me apologize in a practical way first." As he spoke, the man pulled out a checkbook from his suit jacket's inner pocket, grabbed a pen from Thalia's desk organizer, and scribbled down a string of numbers.
"Sixty-eight million dollars. Take this check to cash it tomorrow."
Thalia's expression improved a bit, looking at William somewhat like she was looking at an actual person. "Can't you just transfer it?"
"I've hit my limit for this month."
Thalia nodded.
William asked, "Do I get to speak now?"
Thalia opened the desk drawer and tossed the check inside, tilting her head to look at William. "What do you think?"
"I can add more if it's not enough."
"William..." Thalia reached out and tugged on the man's tie, pulling him closer to her. "Why do you bother? You know I'm difficult, yet you still provoke me. After provoking me, you have to pay up. You're just like Amara's cat, likes to scratch people, and after scratching them and being ignored, shamelessly comes crawling back."
William freed his tie from Thalia's hand. "You could just say I'm shameless."
"Well, are you?"
The moment Thalia's words landed, William braced one hand on the desk and pressed the other against her head, bringing his lips to hers, his tongue gliding across her lips, licking them again and again.
This decadent, mind-scrambling action instantly triggered Thalia's desire to dominate.
She relentlessly pulled on William's tie, hooked her arms around his neck, and jumped onto the man.
Her slender legs wrapped around his waist, forcing William to support her with both hands.
She took the dominant position, forcing William to look up and kiss her.
"Ms. Smith... Ah!!" A servant came upstairs to collect the dishes. Seeing the study door wide open just like before, she called out and walked in.
Suddenly seeing this scene, she screamed in fright.
Thalia instantly snapped back to reality.
Just as she was about to jump down from William.
She heard the servant mutter, "This child, not even closing the door."
Thalia was speechless.
The servant walked a few steps, then turned back to close the door for them. Seeing the two had stopped, she seemed surprised. "I'll close the door for you; you two carry on."
The servant closed the door, and Thalia lost interest. "Put me down already."
William released her and watched as Thalia tugged at her skirt that had ridden up to her thighs.
She picked up the bowl from the desk and handed it to him. "Drink it."
"What is it?"
"Good for your kidneys."
"I don't need it."
"Whether you need it or not isn't for you to decide."
William was speechless.
Thalia held the cup and took a step forward. "Car salesmen never say there's anything wrong with their cars, but the driver can clearly feel the problems."
Thalia had been making sarcastic remarks all evening without getting to him, but this one sentence did.
William took the porcelain bowl through gritted teeth, about to down it in one gulp. After a couple of sips, he realized something was off.
Milk?
Thalia crossed her arms and clicked her tongue twice. "Look how scared you are, William. What are you afraid of? With your kind of wealth, even if you were impotent, plenty of people would still want you."
...........
"Going back?"
"Yeah!"
Thalia went downstairs, and Grace asked.
She handed the check to Grace. "What's this for?"
"A gift from my husband."
"If you two get divorced later, will you make me pay it back?" Grace looked at Thalia questioningly.
"You'll have to ask him!"
"No," William said simply and directly. Others heard it as he wouldn't make her pay it back.
But what William meant was, there won't be a divorce.
..........
"Did you get the list?"
"Got it." Stefan handed the list to Eileen.
