Chapter 386 William Holds the Desk with One Hand and Presses Her Head with the Other

Chapter 387 The White Shirt on the Body Got Wet and Clung Tightly to the Body

Eileen flipped through the list in her hand.

She carefully checked everyone who had been on the second floor at tonight's auction.

She wanted to see exactly what kind of people could get up there. If even the Jimenez family couldn't get up there, what were the backgrounds of these other people?

"I thought they were so impressive, but turns out they're just like this."

After seeing the list, Eileen's words were full of mockery. She had thought Emerald City was such an amazing place, but it turned out to be just this.

What high-ranking officials and nobles?

If these people went to Regal City, they'd be nothing.

"Take it away!"

Stefan collected the papers thrown on the coffee table, keeping his head down without a word. Eileen looked down on everyone. Back in the day, she was a proper heiress from a wealthy family. All these years in Regal City, unless someone had done better than her back then, she looked down on them. Not to mention Emerald City - no matter what position those people held, as long as they came from Emerald City, she felt they were beneath her.

But in reality, Regal City and Emerald City were different worlds. Those people she looked down on might be famous big shots in certain fields, and some of Emerald City's elite might even outrank them in Regal City.

The Jimenez family no longer had the status they once did.

Yet she remained standing at the peak of that mountain, unwilling to come down.

If this continued, the Jimenez family would be finished sooner or later.

"Call Michael and tell him to come back."

"Yes."

When Michael arrived at the Jimenez Mansion, Eileen had just finished washing up and was sitting in the living room chair in her pajamas, looking at him.

"What's your relationship with Thalia?" Eileen asked.

Michael replied, "We've met a few times."

"That's all?"

"Yes, Ms. Smith is an iconic figure in Emerald City's elite circles. She doesn't think much of ordinary people. Even if I got in front of her, I might not be able to get close to her."

"From your conversation tonight, it sounds like you two have a grudge?"

Michael answered as usual, "Last time I accidentally ended up having dinner with her brother. After something happened, I heard people say the two of them never got along. I guess that's when the bad blood started."

"When we met again later, Ms. Smith didn't give me a pleasant look."

Eileen didn't like him and found everything about him annoying.

Hearing him say this, she thought he was even more useless, couldn't even handle simple matters.

"Go!"

.........

"The check."

Early in the morning, Isla came to Mistwood Hill and handed the check to Thalia.

Thalia was puzzled. "Where did this come from?"

"Your mom called me early this morning and told me to pick it up."

Thalia picked it up and glanced at it - it was the check William had written her last night.

After a pause, she handed it to Isla and tossed it on the coffee table.

"Mr. Brown wrote this for you?" Isla asked.

"Yeah," Thalia always treated Isla as one of her own, so their conversations were pretty casual.

"I heard from Evelyn about what happened last night. Is this Mr. Brown's sincere apology?"

"Sort of."

"Why didn't you accept it?"

"If you slap a child and give them candy, it works once or twice, but does it work long-term?"

By giving the check to Grace last night, she wanted to tell William that she wasn't satisfied with this way of apologizing.

But she also felt there was no need to fight about it.

So she let it go.

Isla nodded, understanding.

For someone like William, a financial magnate in Emerald City's business circles, money meant nothing.

Using these meaningless things to placate her was an insult to someone like Thalia, who had never lacked anything since childhood.

A moment later, William came downstairs holding a tie, his shirt collar loose and hanging open, clearly wanting Thalia to help him tie it.

When the man walking into the living room saw the high-value check on the coffee table, William's brow furrowed. "Where's Thalia?"

"Mrs. Brown is in the indoor pool downstairs."

William took the elevator to the third basement level. Mistwood Hill's heated pool always maintained a comfortable temperature.

The man stood at the edge, watching Thalia in her black swimsuit, swimming through the water like a koi fish.

William followed her movements to the other end of the pool.

Just as Thalia was about to surface, the man tugged at his dress pants and slowly crouched down.

He reached out his hand, ready to greet her.

When Thalia surfaced, she saw the hand in front of her.

A mischievous thought crossed her mind.

Taking off her goggles, she looked at the man crouching on the shore.

The warm lights spread out behind him, giving him a faint halo.

For a moment, Thalia felt ashamed of having such thoughts.

But this shame lasted only an instant.

"Honey, did you bring your phone?" Thalia called out sweetly, with a hint of seduction.

"It's upstairs."

"Oh."

Thalia understood. Her body floating up and down under the water, infinitely alluring.

No valuables on him - that made things easier.

Thalia pushed through the water toward William, her fingertips pale from the water landing in William's palm.

Suddenly, William was pulled underwater.

Being pulled underwater was one thing, but Thalia also held down his body, not letting him struggle.

Was she trying to drown him?

William broke free, his white shirt clinging tightly to his body from the water.

The whole scene looked somewhat indecent.

He knew it - last night's matter passing so easily was all an illusion. Someone like Thalia would definitely get her revenge.

Thalia was grabbed by the waist and pushed against the pool wall.

The man raised his hand and wiped his face, his neatly styled hair now hanging limply over his face.

He looked a bit like a brooding teenager.

"Feel better now?"

Thalia huffed. "No."

"Then tell me, what will make you feel better?"

"If I tell you, can you actually do it?"

"As long as it's within moral boundaries, I'll try to meet all your demands."

William's implication was clear - fighting was one thing, but Thalia couldn't go looking for other men.

"Let me use the private jet for a few days."

"Where are you going? What for?"

"William, if you're trying to apologize, you shouldn't be asking these questions, right?"

"What if you take my private jet and fly abroad to find another man? I shouldn't ask about that either?"
