Chapter 402 I Can Love You
People in the entertainment industry were more or less superstitious about supernatural stuff. They even picked lucky dates for simple things like starting a project or beginning filming. I had only been with the crew for a short time, and we hadn't even finished a third of the show, but things kept going wrong one after another. Every time something happened, we had to stop filming for several days.
"In a place like the entertainment industry, if I had a bad temper or acted like a diva, the director might put up with it because of my acting skills. But if I mess with their money, I could be fired tomorrow."
Finn thought she had a point.
Nobody wants to be around someone who brings bad luck, even though these things weren't something she willingly caused.
But no matter how you look at it, it all started because of her.
Finn looked at William awkwardly. William waved his hand, signaling him to leave.
"If it's really hard to fix, forget it. I'll just accept it quietly."
That's what Thalia said, but William knew that if he didn't help her solve this today, she'd bring it up in every future argument.
For the sake of a happy life together, he had to try to fix this.
"Can you really accept it?"
"Of course not. Who would willingly suffer? She was not a saint."
"From now on, say less of these fake things, or better yet, don't say them at all."
William knew Thalia's personality too well.
"So tell me, what should I do?"
"Is it easy for someone like me who's working hard to chase my dreams? Don't I have to be careful about everything? What if someone pulls me down one day? Wouldn't all the hardships I've endured, all the exhaustion, all the effort I've put in over the years be wasted?"
"Mr. Brown," Thalia's rambling stopped when Brian walked in.
"Come in."
Brian saw Thalia and nodded in greeting. "Mrs. Brown, hello."
"Hi, Brian." Thalia greeted Brian in a sweet voice.
"Speak."
Brian hadn't recovered from Thalia's teasing greeting when William's cold single word interrupted him.
"The share transfer agreement has been drafted. Please take a look." Brian handed over the documents. Three to five days ago, William suddenly called a meeting, saying he wanted to transfer half of his shares to Thalia. Everyone in the conference room was shocked and speechless when they heard the news.
After the initial shock, everyone unanimously opposed it. They explained all the risks and dangers to him clearly.
Some shareholders even said Thalia couldn't be trusted.
A daughter raised by Hayden, trained to become someone everyone in Emerald City feared—if she were just an ordinary girl, it would be one thing, but she's also in the entertainment industry.
Thalia totally can't be trusted.
Everyone argued, objections came one after another, and William sat at the head of the table the whole time, saying nothing. Just when everyone thought he was seriously listening to their opinions, he tapped the table, his cold gaze sweeping over everyone present, then falling on the documents in front of him. He asked everyone firmly, word by word, "Since when do I need everyone's approval to do things?"
The company was built from scratch by William.
The shares these people held were all given by him back when he didn't care about such things—otherwise, what right would they have to sit at this table?
Of course, Thalia didn't know about any of this.
Thalia was so lucky in this life—she had her dad when she was young, and now she has her husband after getting married.
William took the documents from Brian, looked them over, found no issues, and passed them to Thalia, pulling out a pen and handing it to her. "Sign it."
Even Thalia, as clueless as she could be, knew what this share transfer agreement meant.
Looking at the words with brackets highlighting [gratuitous gift] in the middle of a line.
Thalia felt mixed emotions.
She looked at William with some disbelief. Some things she just said casually, but William always listened and took action.
"Are you serious?" Thalia was incredulous. She knew what shares meant to a CEO.
Giving away your shares to someone else for free means putting half your life in someone else's hands. If one day the person who received the gift betrays you.
The other person has no way out.
Grace only got some shares from Hayden after twenty years of marriage.
Those businessmen would rather transfer shares to their children than to their wives.
Moreover, her relationship with William was dangerous, with no ties or bonds.
"Every single thing I've said to you, every word, is real."
Thalia didn't dare take the pen from William's hand and continued trying to persuade him. "Aren't you afraid that after I get these shares you're giving me, I'll turn around and run into another man's arms?"
"I am," William responded to Thalia, "but I never stop moving forward because I'm afraid. Thalia, shouldn't you learn from me on this?"
Because she was afraid of meeting a scumbag, afraid of meeting someone like her own father again, Thalia lost trust in all men in this world.
"Living in fear is foolish. Thalia, you're smart. You shouldn't make this kind of mistake." As William spoke, he walked around the desk to stand behind Thalia, uncapped the pen and placed it in her palm, bent down and leaned over to circle her in the chair, holding her hand just like Grace used to help her write when she was little, guiding her to write her name stroke by stroke on the share transfer agreement.
Thalia suddenly turned to look at William. The air fell silent. The emotional tension between their eyes was like a fire suddenly igniting on a long-parched grassland.
Just by looking at him, Thalia made William feel like he was being stripped naked.
"Thalia..." William's words had barely landed when Thalia reached up to hook her arm around his neck, pulling him toward her lips.
With a quick turn, Thalia took control, pressing William against the desk.
She was bold, and William felt helpless.
"I trust you."
William asked back, "Is that all?"
"I can love you."
"Thank you."
