17- An Enemy Attack
TREVOR’S POV.
“Damn it! I shouldn’t have wasted the chance to teach that jerk a lesson!”
I held back my breath, trying to punch Valor.
But Therese stopped me as soon as Lord Thomas noticed the commotion.
“Damn it! Damn it!” I thought.
“Explain yourself, Trevor!”
Lord Thomas commanded.
He was looking into my eyes, which were embraced by a burning flame.
I’ve worked hard enough to gain his trust, but I was willing to protect my wife from Valor. I would never allow anyone to disrespect her, especially right in front of me.
I was about to conceal the truth and use it against Valor when Therese spilled the tea right away. I’ve told her to always trust me, yet she has failed to keep that promise.
Therese faced Lord Thomas with desperation in her eyes.
She shook her head and said, “Trevor didn’t do anything wrong! He only stopped Valor from harassing me, and that’s the truth, father!”
But Lord Thomas told her to stop and stay away from the trouble, which made me angry. If only she trusted in me, I should have used this chance to hold Valor by the neck. I would have something to use against him whenever I wanted to.
It was hard to change the truth. Lord Thomas didn’t listen to his own daughter; instead, he commanded me to explain what had happened.
To end this nonsense, I bowed my head and asked for forgiveness. I swallowed my pride, not because I’m a coward, but to win this battle against my enemies.
Valor wasn’t an easy enemy. He was strong and had the power to steal my wife, my everything, from me with a single snap of his fingers. To give them false hope, I apologized in front of them.
“I apologize for causing trouble, my lord. I was carefree, my lord.”
“No, that’s not true!” Therese interrupted.
With outrage in his eyes, Lord Thomas raised his voice at her. I wanted to do something, but I couldn’t ruin this moment.
“Enough! Stop protecting your husband because he was at fault!” Lord Thomas said.
Through my naked eyes, I saw how Valor smirked. He thought he had won the battle, but little did he know it was part of my plan.
“I don’t want this mess to happen again, do you understand? ” Lord Thomas spoke.
“Yes, my lord!”
I gasped and tilted my head as an answer.
My heart was filled with happiness. I smiled sweetly, but Therese looked away and left. I didn’t know what happened, and I didn’t have the chance to follow her.
“Hurry up, Trevor! Let’s start the battle!” Lord Thomas spoke.

“And the winner is...”
My heart was beating fast, trying to keep my composure. My right arm was bleeding, and I could barely see and hear things around me.
“The winners are none other than Trevor and Danson Glamming!”
“Congratulations! The result is a tie, as you both displayed such amazing and breathtaking fighting skills!”
Riger, if I wasn’t mistaken, announced the winners.
The fight ended with two victories. I had fun and never thought about how strong Danson was. I wouldn’t deny it; he was such a good fighter.
But both of us were almost covered with blood. His thighs and arms were bleeding the same as mine.
“What a fabulous fight!”
Danson tapped my shoulder, despite his bleeding wounds, and laughed. We had fun fighting. It was one of the greatest fights I have ever experienced against a beta. He had a strong physique and an intimidating aura that could push away anyone.
“It’s my pleasure! I hope you’ll find some time to visit,” I replied.
“I could no longer wait for it, Lord Trevor,” he said.
At that moment, Lord Thomas appeared in front of us. He caressed his chin, staring at Danson with disappointment in his eyes. But fake laughter concealed the truth.
“Congratulations to both of you! It was such an entertaining fight,” he said.
As humble as I could be, I remained silent. Considering he never liked me from the very beginning for abandoning Therese.
“You never failed me, young man.”
Lord Thomas complimented Danson.
“No, my lord! I’m no longer the best warrior because I have met the real one. Lord Trevor is indestructible. He’s the real winner between us,” Danson replied.
He then placed his arm on my shoulder and smiled like we were siblings. I remained still, waiting for Lord Thomas’ reaction.
I was thinking he would frown and insist on calling Danson the winner. But Lord Thomas agreed and laughed, which surprised me.
It was the first time he did it, and I hoped it was genuine. Considering our relationship because of the mistakes I have committed in the past.
“Exactly! That’s why my heart is filled with joy having Trevor as my son-in-law.”
After a long time, Lord Thomas said good things about me. It took away the guilt that lived within my heart.
“Shall we? Both of you must be treated as soon as possible!” He added.
A grandiose chariot was waiting for us. We went inside and sat next to Danson. But I noticed something odd along the way back to the mansion. The route changed, and it bothered me.
To confirm it, I leaned closer to Danson.
“Hey, I think this is not the right route,” I said.
Danson looked around and noticed the same thing. His facial expression changed, and he feared the king.
“Protect the king! No matter what happens, stay with Lord Thomas! Do you understand?”
No one knew that we had noticed the enemy’s plan. To ensure the king’s safety, Danson decided to go out without the king’s knowledge.
As soon as he appeared in front of the chariot, I moved as fast as I could and took Lord Thomas with me.
“HALT!”
Danson’s voice echoed around the forest. But I did not look back, trying hard to protect Lord Thomas from any attack.
“What’s going on? Why did we have to run and hide?”
“Apologies, my lord. But Danson and I noticed that they were taking us somewhere!”
Eagerness took over my system. I wanted to protect him and keep my promise to Danson, but everything fell apart when a loud laughter echoed.
I couldn’t speak or move. I never thought everything was a lie, and I couldn’t understand why Lord Thomas had to fake an enemy attack.
“I didn’t know you were too eager to earn my trust, young man. Whatever you do, nothing will change, and I will never accept you as my daughter’s mate!”
His true colors came to light. I did everything, but it wasn’t enough for him. Lord Thomas' hatred went beyond, and I would no longer sit around.
“Goddamn it! I was such a fool to believe it was an enemy attack.”
I murmured and left.
