Chapter 37
...
"Huh?"
Matthias’s eyes sharpened as he stared at the images on his phone—photos of Luna standing beside Felix, their hands brushing as she appeared in that striking outfit at the hotel.
"Bastard." His grip tightened around the phone.
He had already investigated Luna’s entire background. There was no connection between her and Felix—none whatsoever.
Given their completely different worlds, it was practically impossible for them to know each other.
"My woman really is beautiful… she draws the attention of every man who sees her."
"And judging from this… Valery must be trying to make me jealous, hoping I’ll let her go. Fool. Not every woman is like you, Valery—so unfaithful it’s disgusting."
"But still… seeing him get close to my wife…" His jaw clenched. "It pisses me off."
Without another thought, Matthias strode forward.
"Ahem…"
He sat down right beside Luna without warning, placing his phone on the table a little too forcefully.
One arm slipped around her shoulders possessively, while his other hand reached for hers—deliberately aligning their fingers so their rings were clearly visible.
"Huh?"
Luna blinked in surprise, startled by her husband’s sudden appearance.
Again, someone was interrupting her meal—her precious steak, no less.
"Hmm?"
Felix frowned slightly, confused. The composed, authoritative man from earlier was now acting… oddly expressive, almost theatrical.
Matthias didn’t say a word.
Instead, his sharp blue gaze flicked toward their hands, silently urging Felix to look.
"What the..."
Following the subtle cue, Felix’s eyes shifted to their fingers. He glanced back and forth between Luna’s hand and Matthias’s, his expression slowly changing as realization dawned.
"Wait…" His eyes widened.
"OH—!"
‘Matching rings… not identical, but close enough. That’s… a couple’s ring. A wedding ring.’
‘Don’t tell me…’
Felix swallowed, his gaze lifting toward Luna just as she briefly closed her eyes, trying to maintain her patience. But clearly, her irritation had already reached its limit.
"Sir... I mean… MY LOVE!" Her voice rose slightly, emphasizing the last word.
"Why are you here? Weren’t you in a meeting? You left me alone until I was STARVING, and now you’re interrupting me while I’m eating my steak. Can you just let me enjoy a little happiness for once, MY LOVE?"
The word babe landed like a thunderclap.
Felix—and the few employees still nearby—froze, utterly stunned.
"WHAT?! M-MY LOVE?!" Felix blurted out without thinking.
"You two are actually married?!"
The cafeteria fell silent.
Even the staff and remaining employees stood frozen, their hearts racing as they stared in disbelief.
Luna blinked, caught off guard.
She wasn’t even sure whether their marriage was something that could be openly announced. Matthias had never told her to hide it—but still, saying it out loud felt… strange.
After all, being the wife of Matthias De Grayson wasn’t something ordinary.
So she turned to him.
Her expression turned serious as she searched his face—and what she found there made her pause.
A smile.
Not just any smile—but one filled with pride.
"Hm." Matthias lifted his chin slightly, clearly pleased.
Hearing her call him babe in front of another man—especially one who had just been flirting with her—had stirred something deeply satisfying within him.
"Of course we’re husband and wife," he said smoothly. "Who else wears matching rings like this, if not a married couple?" He leaned closer, his voice softening.
"Isn’t that right, my dear wife?"
Before she could react, he reached out and gently pinched her nose.
"Huh—?!" Luna froze, completely stunned.
Her husband was acting… sweet.
And that was not normal.
She swallowed hard, unease creeping in.
‘What is this? He’s being nice, but… why does it feel dangerous?’
‘My instincts are screaming at me… something’s wrong!’
‘Ugh, whatever… I should just eat.’
She bit her lower lip, then lowered her gaze, her expression turning slightly tense.
Still, she picked up her fork again and took another bite.
"Mmm… this is so good…"
The taste of the steak quickly pushed her worries aside.
For the moment... food won.
"Hahaha…" Felix let out a light laugh, shaking his head.
He almost felt sorry for himself.
He had already suspected Luna was married—but he hadn’t expected her husband to be someone like Matthias.
"Please forgive me, Mr. Grayson. I didn’t realize she was your wife."
He smiled, though there was a hint of resignation in his eyes.
"To be honest, I was drawn to her the first time I saw her—crying in a wedding dress at her parents’ grave."
"But I’m glad I found out now. It means I won’t have to hold onto those feelings any longer."
He straightened slightly, his tone sincere.
"Congratulations, Mr. Matthias Grayson. You’ve truly married a beautiful woman." Felix knew there was no point competing.
Not when the man standing before him...
was Matthias De Grayson.
So instead, he chose to step back, grateful that he had learned the truth before it was too late.
"Hmm! Of course my wife is beautiful. But I’ll accept your congratulations. I also appreciate your honesty—and the fact that you didn’t act like some pathetic bastard. Because if you had tried to take her from me, you might’ve ended up dead at my hands. Haha."
Matthias let out a soft laugh, sounding almost relaxed—yet the words he spoke carried a quiet, chilling weight.
For a brief moment, Felix fell silent… then he laughed along.
There was something about Matthias—something sharp, charismatic, and dangerously dependable—that made him impossible to dislike.
Felix found himself hoping, more than ever, that they could become friends.
At the same time, the employees and cafeteria staff who had overheard everything were completely stunned.
That beautiful woman... wasn’t his sister.
She was his wife.
Their fingers moved quickly, typing and sending messages at lightning speed.
"That woman named Luna Sharon—the one we thought was Mr. Matthias’s sister—is actually his wife. We heard it directly from him. They’re in the company cafeteria right now."
The message spread like wildfire.
And just like that, the entire company fell into chaos.
...
Meanwhile, Felix decided to give them space.
Not only did he not want to intrude on a married couple—but Matthias’s gaze earlier had very clearly told him the same thing.
"Well then, I’ll take my leave, Mr. Grayson, Mrs. Grayson. I’ll eat here another time. I wouldn’t want to disturb you." He gave a polite nod.
"See you at our next meeting, Mr. Grayson."
Matthias inclined his head slightly, satisfied.
"Very well, Mr. Felix. Next time, I’ll invite you out for a drink."
That alone was enough to make Felix unexpectedly pleased.
With that, he excused himself and left.
Now alone again, Matthias leaned back in his seat, arms folded as his gaze settled on his wife,
who was, undeniably, far too beautiful.
"What is it, BABE?!" Luna asked with puffed cheeks, still chewing her steak as she noticed him staring at her.
"Hmm." Matthias tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable.
"So… you cried at your parents’ grave on our wedding day?"
Felix’s earlier words lingered in his mind—and for some reason, they bothered him more than they should have.
Hearing that, Luna swallowed her food with some difficulty before looking at him.
"Of course I cried!" Her brows furrowed, her round eyes wide with disbelief.
"Just imagine it—I was suddenly kidnapped, then some unreasonable A MAN bought me, forced me to act like a shameless woman in front of his father, and then married me while saying he’d divorce me after I gave him a child!"
She spoke quickly, her emotions spilling out without restraint.
"And on top of that, I have to find out who killed my grandmother and take revenge on the people who framed me. So tell me—BABE—is it really that surprising that I cried like that?"
"Hmm?"
Her expression was serious, almost indignant… yet somehow, it only made her look even more adorable.
What Luna didn’t realize was that she had begun to trust him—slowly, unconsciously.
She was telling him everything.
And she felt at ease doing it.
"Hmm." Matthias smiled.
Not because of her tragic story, but because of her.
"Hah! You’re smiling at my sad and dramatic life story? Seriously?" Luna huffed, clearly annoyed.
"I’m going to keep eating. Stop staring at me, babe!" Despite her tone, there was a faint sense of relief in her chest.
For some reason… it felt good that he knew.
"Hmm. I’ll wait until you’re done," Matthias said calmly. "Then we’ll go somewhere."
He nodded slightly, still watching her as she ate.
Luna could only let out a long sigh at his stubbornness.
...
Meanwhile…
"WHAT?!"
Sean nearly drove straight into the road divider.
He had just finished having lunch with his wife. Diana had insisted on meeting him at a nearby restaurant, whining until he gave in.
He hadn’t wanted to go—but he couldn’t refuse her.
Now, both of them sat frozen in the car.
Because on the screen of his phone—mounted on the dashboard—messages were flooding in from the office.
Messages that said,
Luna… had become the wife of his boss.
Matthias De Grayson.
Sean felt like his entire world had just collapsed.
