Chapter 31 SLOANE

Chapter 31 SLOANE
CHAPTER 31
SLOANE

“Sloane, Rave, come sit next to me my darlings!” Isaac’s mum called out, snapping me out of my daze. Xaden was just as shocked as I was. He stood next to his friend, his eyes tracing my every step but not approaching me or acting like he wanted to.

I forced a smile and hugged Isaac’s mum before sitting next to her as she asked. Rave sat next to me.

“Son, you’re joining us for lunch, right?” Isaac’s mum turned to Xaden, her eyes holding eagerness, one that everyone knew Xaden would not be able to refuse.

“Yes ma’am.” He succumbed, his finger grazed the back of his neck as he smiled and sat on the same table, his friend joined him.

“Thanks for having us, mum.” Isaac’s brother muffled, taking a bite from the fries on the table.

Smack!

His mother hits his hands off the food, “Get your dirty hands off the food.” She scolded, glaring at him.

“It’s just fries, besides, aren’t we eating now?” He grumbled.

“Not until Isaac and Daisy get here. We have to share the grace as a family before eating.” His mum scolded.

My eyes were on Isaac’s mum and his brother not because I was interested in their conversation but because I was trying to avoid that gaze yhat had been on me since.

Xaden won’t stop staring. He was sitting across from the table but I could feel his gaze on my skin to the point that it hurts.

“Hey, Makeover girl, where is your client?” Isaac’s brother asked.

I have a name though.

“She has a name, Dude… It’s Sloane.” Xaden corrected him, it fell off, like he didn’t mean to correct him but still did anyway.

“Sloane, where is Isaac?” He corrected himself.

My lips parted to respond but the front door creaked open and Isaac and Daisy walked in. Daisy was in the front, her eyes everywhere but on Rave or me. She sat next to Rave and had her head buried.

I turned to Rave, confused and she mirrored my expression.

Isaac was behind Daisy. He looked… like he had just gotten kissed by his crush. His face is all red. He has his glasses on and could barely keep a straight face. “Here— here —mum.” He stuttered like a broken radio, leaving everyone speechless and confused.

Rave and I turned to each other again.

“Where were you?” His mother scolded.

“Nowhere, let’s just eat, please.”

His mum sighed and shook her head, “Whatever, Xaden, son, can you please say the grace?”

“Sure, Auntie.” He affirmed. We locked hands all around the table and he began. “Dear Lord, we say a very big thankful for today’s lunch. We come together to eat this delicious meal. We thank you and pray that you provide for others Amen.”

“Amen.” We chorused.

I sneaked a peek at Isaiah but he was busy with his food. I had only heard him say the grace once and now he makes it the second time. It’s so … manly.

We all sat at the table, eating and laughing.

Rave and I could not take our eyes off Daisy and Daisy could not even bring herself to look at us.

What happened between Isaac and Daisy when we left them earlier?

“Should we ask them after lunch?” Rave whispered in my ears.

“We should… they seem way too sus.” I concurred.

“What do you think is the reason they are acting weird?” Rave continued to whisper like a mosquito as we ate together. She seems to be enjoying it and I am no different.

I turned to her with a knowing look, “You don’t think they actually—“ I stopped myself.

Daisy's cheeks were pink when she walked in. Isaac is like a walking tomato… It’s clear as day but still..

“100 bucks they kissed.”

“Ohhhh.” I gasped, chuckling. She nodded in unison.

Giggling, the sound of Xaden’s moving chair tore me from the small gathering we had. He walked outside.

“Go,” Rave whispered behind me. “You should talk.”
