Jacob on Jersey II
In the VIP section of the Art Gallery, Jacob, who was still waiting for the director to get back to him, felt his stomach churning in hunger. Rising to his full stature, he took a glance at his Rolex and frowned slightly.
“Where did you say I can bid for any other items by that artist?” He asked the man, who had been his escort.
“Amedux auction house, you have to go through the site first and wait for her next item.” The man explained and Jacob frowned distastefully at him.
“There’s no item available?” He asked, and the man nodded.
Slightly angered, Jacob decided to wait for the Art gallery director to get back to him, and give him the artist's contact, so he could contact them directly.
After Anna heard that the man asking for her contact information was Jacob Mikelson, her whole body trembled in shock and her phone almost fell from her trembling hands.
Jacob was here in Jersey? How? When? Did he trace her down here? How did it happen?
She was lost in a trance as these questions plagued her mind.
“Miss Annabella, are you there? You-
“Do not give out my information.” Anna cut off the director’s words immediately after she heard his voice in her subconscious state.
She has tried to lessen the anxiety in her tone but it still came out as very tense as she was. Unable to continue the conversation, she abruptly hung up the call.
Her heart hammering against her chest, Anna’s eyes trailed toward her son, who was arranging a puzzle box with a look of determination on his face. Slowly, Anna’s anxiety heightened, and she decided not to go out again.
She knew that Jacob could be anywhere in Jersey, and they might not run into each other, but she was so scared that they would, and he would recognize Marcelo instantly.
If this happened, he might never forgive her for keeping their child’s identity a secret. Adding to the fact that she had breached the contract again by leaving them 5 years ago, she was certain that he would immediately drag her back to London.
In just a few minutes, several thoughts had enveloped Anna’s mind and none of it was as scary as the last one she thought of. Which was Jacob hating her enough to take away her child.
The moment this thought flashed in her mind, her legs wobbled in terror, and she quickly supported herself by resting on her car.
Lost in thought, Anna didn’t hear Marcelo calling her until the little boy started getting paranoid and hitting the glass.
Immediately after she discovered it, she jerked up and quickly went to his side of the car. “Marcey baby, I'm so sorry, I- I was… I just…” Her voice broke when she saw that her baby had been extremely worried, and he was already crying.
“I'm so sorry, Marcelo.” She pleaded over again for neglecting her son.
“I keep calling you, you just stood there… “Marcelo muttered as he sniffed back his tears. He was really scared that she wouldn’t hear him ever.
“I'm so sorry, baby.” She held her son in her arms, inhaling his baby scent, and letting him gently stroke her hair as she cried silently.
“Mommy, it's okay. Don’t cry anymore and let go and get steaks.” Marcelo, who had gradually forgotten the incident of the last few minutes, reminded his mother why they had left the house in the first place.
The moment Anna heard the word ‘steak’ her mind went to Jacob again. She was suddenly confused about what to do.
“Marcey, do you have to eat steaks? How about we just get some Ice cream?” She decided to change the plans with the thought that there was no way she could run into Jacob in any Ice cream store.
There would be a possibility of that happening if they leave for Marcelo's favorite restaurant and Anna couldn’t afford that at all.
When the little boy heard his mother’s change of plan, he pouted his lips in protest but still gently nodded. “Fine”
“That’s my boy.” She ruffled his curly dark hair as she flashed a big smile. Such an understanding son, she wouldn’t trade him for anything or anyone in the world.
On their way to the ice cream store, Anna’s anxious heart slowly felt relaxed when her son started singing Beyonce’s song ‘Run The World’ after completing the puzzle box he was arranging.
Anna started bobbing her head to his melodious comforting voice even though he mispronounced the lyrics so many times. Gradually smiling, happiness once again filled her heart. She knew Marcelo must have heard her listening to that particular song so much until it turned into song-abuse.
“Do you like the song, baby?” Anna asked.
Marcelo nodded his head and flashes his perfect detention. “Yes, because mommy likes it too.”
“Are you singing it for mommy?” She asked and the little boy nodded.
“Yea, ‘cause you look sad.” Anna couldn’t hold back the emotion in her eyes as she heard her son’s words, and at that moment, she knew that she would never let anyone take her son away from her.
After waiting for more than thirty minutes, Jacob was about to leave in anger when the Art gallery director appeared and apologized to him, saying exactly what Anna had said to him.
“Fine. I will just wait for her next item.” Jacob muttered, trying to keep his irritation in check.
If there was anything he hates most in the world, it would be not getting what he wants, when he wants but over the years, he has been cool-headed and even-tempered.
“She would definitely appreciate that.” The director let out without realizing his slip of tongue until Jacob pointed out with a scowl.
“She?”
