Chapter 52 Isn't Madison dead?
Madison Smith - POV

“How the fuck are you still alive?” Elijah growled in anger while I maintained my calm posture while a victorious smirk appeared on my face.

"Let's just say not everyone is as heartless as you.” I told him when he stormed towards me, and in the blink of an eye, he grabbed hold of my neck and slammed me against the wall. His pupils had turned black, and there were a few veins visible on his forehead as he gradually squeezed my neck.

“I should have known something was wrong the moment you turned up in my pack with a background and a vague cover story.” he hissed while I clawed at his hand trying to loosen his grip. My lungs were burning as the oxygen deprivation set in.

“If you kill me…” I choked out tears running down my cheeks. “You will never see your mother.” I managed to get my sentence out while black dots appeared in the corner of my eyes.

For a second his eyes widened in concern, and he immediately let me go as I fell to the floor on all fours. My throat burned while I gasped as much oxygen as I could when I felt him grab my hair and force me to get up.

“Do you want your mother to live?” I asked him in a hoarse voice even though it was painful to speak. Elijah looked at me for a few seconds before he dragged me into the cabin. As we walked into his mother’s bedroom, his grip on my hair loosened when he let me go and stepped back.

His face changed from shock to anger when he turned to face me. “Where is she?” he gritted out while I rubbed my thirst to smooth the burning sensation.

“Somewhere safe for now.” I retorted when I walked to the bed and took a seat as I crossed my legs. “You know, I was surprised when I saw Luna Chanel alive after all these years, and after having a little chat with Doctor Riley, I found out that she used magic to come back from the dead.” I paused waiting for my words to sink in. “I hope you are aware of the penalties of using magic to bring the dad back to life, Elijah?”

“My mother is innocent; the witch saved her on her own free will.” Elijah exclaimed when I tsked.

“The werewolf council will not believe that. And let's assume that they did believe your story. The verdict would be to kill her in order to maintain the balance between life and death. So would you allow them to kill her to keep your crown?”

“They will never know who she is.”

“But I do. And I will testify against you.” I warned him when I saw him begin to realize the gravity of the situation.

“What do you want?” he asked me when the smile on my face widened.

“The same thing I have been asking you since we found out we are mates.” I told him. “I want you to mate with me.” I told him, but he immediately shook his head.

"That's not going to happen. I found Antoenella, and I have already brought her back home. But I spare your life," he said when I shrugged my shoulders.

“I don't want your mercy, Elijah. Remember you are powerless right now.” I threatened him.

“Fine, I will marry you after I send Antonella away. "But I want my mother brought back here tonight.” he commanded when I shook my head.

“You can only fool me once, Elijah. Now we play the game by your rules.” I told him as I hit him up from my place. “I want the mating ceremony to happen tonight, and as soon as you mark me, your mother will be back in this cabin.”

“Madison, don't fucking play with me. I can kill you this very instant for challenging my authority.” He said in a dark tone, but I was not afraid of his words anymore. I have already seen death, and I know that he will not follow through with his threats.

“Kill me; I don't care, but you will never figure out where your mother is.” I told him when I looked around the room and spotted a knife that was on the side table. I picked it up and walked close to Elijah until we were an inch apart and placed it on his throat while I took his hand and placed it on the knife. “Kill me, Elijah.” I encouraged him as I pressed the knife a little deeper when I felt it break my skin and warm liquid flow down.

“You are a fucking witch!” Elijah growled when he roughly took the knife from my hand and threw it on the floor. "Let's have the fucking mating ceremony.”

"That's what I thought.” I told him with a smile. "Let's go," I said as I held his hand and we walked out of the cabin.

“I need to take her to the hospital.” Elijah said as he looked down at Doctor Riley, and I didn't object. It took us an hour to reach the pack house, and as we emerged out of the forest, I saw Zane waiting at the entrance, and his eyes widened in shock when he saw me.

“Maddy?”

“Hello, Zane.” I said when he rushed towards us.

“How did you…where did you find her, Elijah?” Zane asked when I turned to face Elijah.

“Tell him where you rescued me from, Elijah.” I said in a mocking tone.

“She was running away from a few rogues when I saw her.” Elijah lied without a second thought.

“I am happy you are safe, Maddy.” Zane said, and he pulled me into an unexpected hug.

“I am glad that I survived.” I told him as we pulled back when he spotted Doctor Eiley on Elijah’s arms.

“What happened to her?”

“I am not sure. Take her to the hospital and get her treated,” he instructed when Zane nodded his head.
