Chapter 45 Putting the plan in motion
Chapter 45 Putting the plan in motion
Alpha Elijah Alastiar - POV
I walked into my office, and when I was about to take a seat, the door opened, and Zane stepped inside. “What is it, Zane?”
“The rogue has arrived at our border again, Elijah.” Zane informed me when I let out a sigh and took a seat. “I think you should go and talk to him.”
“You and I both know why he is here. So why should I go and talk to him?” I asked Zane.
“He is threatening to go to the werewolf council and surrender himself after confessing every crime that he committed on your behalf.” Zane told me when my eyes flew open. If he does that, I know that the werewolf council will not stand in Maximus’s way to kill me.
I let out a frustrated groan and got up from my place. “You know we don't need his help anymore. What are you going to do to him?” Zane asked me. My first thought was to simply kill him, but I know that it is only a waste of my energy since he is already a dead man.
I opened the top drawer and took out a wad of cash. “Are you going to give that to him?” Zane asked me.
“I think it would be best if we pretend like we still don't know where Antonella is. I will give him the money and tell him that I am still working on the cure, and when the time is right and if he is still alive, I will simply kill him.” I told Zane as I walked out of my office.
I arrived at the western border when I saw Ralph leaning against a tree. He had lost a few pounds, and his skin had turned into a sickly grey color. “Alpha Alastair," he exclaimed when he saw me approach him. “Do you have the antidote?”
“The wizard is still working on it.” I told him. “Why are you here when I told you that I will call you when the potion is ready?” I asked him with an arched eyebrow.
“Do I look like I have much time to live?” he growled when he pulled his shirt sleeves up to show me the wounds that had formed in his skin. The wounds were gradually growing bigger, and they were filled with a thin layer of pus.
“These wounds started appearing all over my body within a few hours after I came and met you. I also visited a doctor, and he told me that all my organs have failed and I only have a day or two to survive.”
“I can understand your pain, Ralph. But it is not easy to create an antidote for this curse out of thin air. The wizard told me that it would take at least another day.” I told him.
“You better get me the cure soon, Alpha Alastair. Or I will walk right into the elders' council and tell them everything that you did.” Really threatened, which made my hands form a fist, but I maintained my composure.
“I didn't see Madison’s dead body yet.” I told him when I saw something shift in his eyes.
“I killed her the day you told me, but my men must have misplaced the body.” Ralph stammered when anger simmered within me.
“What do you mean, misplaced the body?” I growled when he took a cautious step back.
“We had two other bodies to dispose of, and my men had placed the wrong body in her father’s pack; she—her body was burned on that very night.” He told me when I took a large step towards him and grabbed his neck.
“How could you be so careless, Ralph?” I growled in anger as I lifted him off the floor. “Her father comes to your pack every single day asking for his daughter, and the only thing that would have stopped his visits was that body, and you couldn't even do that properly.” I glowed when I dropped him on the floor while he gasped and coughed.
“I am sorry, Alpha Elijah. But if you want, I can find another body that looks like her and…”
“Enough! I will figure something out.” I told him while he showed his head in shame.”
“I will leave and come back tomorrow.” Ralph said, and before I could say anything more, he ran out of my pack.
Madison Smith - POV
“I think we should wait a little longer.” Freya warned me while my mind was preoccupied with the plan the woman suggested.
“She wouldn't have told us to reveal our identity to Elijah without a reason, Freya.” I argued when she rolled her eyes at me before retatting to the back of my head.
When I reached the park gates, I walked inside and continued towards the hospital. "Miss Susan, what are you doing here?” a nurse asked me when I was about to go to Doctor Riley’s office.
“I am going to meet Doctor Riley," I told her.
“She isn't here. But she told me to pass this to you.” The nurse told me as she handed a piece of paper and walked away. I unfolded it when I saw that Doctor Riley had asked me to come to the same place as yesterday.
I stuffed the paper in my pocket and walked out of the hospital. As I got closer to the forest border, I saw that Elijah was in a heated argument with Zane. They were standing beside Zane’s car in the driveway when his eyes finally locked with mine.
I quickly averted my eyes and continued walking towards the border and soon vanished into the forest.
“I don't think it's the right time to reveal who we are.” Freya told me, and I think she was right. When I reached the cabin, I walked inside without knocking when I saw Doctor Riley bend over the floor as she scrubbed the vomit.
“Doctor Riley, let me do that.” I told her when I knelt down on the floor and took the scrubber from her.
“Thank you so much, Susan.”
