Chapter 46 A meeting with Alpha Alexus

Chapter 46 A meeting with Alpha Alexus
Alpha Elijah Alastair - POV

“How did the meeting with the rogue go?” Zane asked me with a smirk as I stepped out of the forest.

“He will come back tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow? What did you tell him?” Zane asked me confused as we walked towards the pack house.

“I didn't want to jeopardize anything yet since we are not one hundred percent certain that Maximus’s mate is Antonella, so I told him that the wizard would hand me the cure tomorrow.” I told him when Zane shook his head. “Did you get the potion from the wizard?” I asked Zane when I stopped in front of my office.

"Let's talk about this inside," he told me when he opened the door and gestured for me to enter. I walked in, and he locked the door and turned around to face me.

“This cost us an arm and a leg.” Zane commented when he showed me the vial with an amber-colored liquid inside.

“How much did he ask?” I asked him when he took out a piece of paper and handed it over to me.

“A hundred thousand dollars?” I asked him, horrified. I thought he would demand maybe twenty thousand dollars.

“He claimed that performing such a complicated spell has weakened his body, and moreover, he had to repay a few people for getting him all the ingredients that were needed.”

“Forget about it. Did he say that it would work?” I asked him when he nodded his head.

“So, how are you going to use this?” Zane asked me when a mysterious smile appeared on my face.

“Set up a meeting with Maximus.”

“For what?” Zane asked me confusedly.

“Well, tell him that I would like to come to an agreement to end this war.”

“I don't think that would work, Elijah. Alpha Alexus claims that you killed his sister, and he wants revenge. Don't you think this is like walking right into your death trap?” Zane said, and he did have a point. I almost forgot about his accusation. I began pacing back and forth trying to find an excuse to get inside his pack when something clicked.

I rushed to my bookshelf and began pulling out all the files. “What are you doing, Elijah?” Zane asked me when I finally found the file I was looking for.

“Maximus gave a clue as to why he attacked our pack.” I told him as I opened the file and began going through old newspaper clippings when I finally found the one I was looking for. Olivia’s smiling face stared back at me when a nostalgic smile appeared on my face.

I may have done a lot of bad things, but Olivia was like the sister I never had, and the day I found out about her death, it broke me into millions of pieces. I would have never killed her, and I am certain about that.

My eyes read the news about her death when it landed on the dates.

“Zane.”

“Yes.”

“Pull out the hospital records for this date and check if I was admitted on that date.” I told him when he nodded his head. He made his way to my computer and turned it in while I walked over to the glass wall and looked outside.

“The day before Olivia’s death, our pack was attacked by a group of rogues, and you were badly injured. You had been admitted to the hospital for five days, Elijah.” Zane told me when I turned around as he pointed to the hospital records.

“I think we have got our opening.” I told him with a victorious smile.

“What do you mean?” Zane asked me with a frown.

“I will speak with him,” I told Zane when I walked to my desk and took a seat. I moved the telephone closed to me and dialed his number. The phone rang twice before he picked it up.

“Alpha Alexus speaking, who is this?”

“Alpha Alexus, it's Elijah.” I replied when the line went silent.

“What the fuck do you want, Elijah?” Maximus growled through the other end.

“I just want to talk to you about the misunderstanding between us, Maximus.”

“Misunderstanding? Do you think I am lying?” he asked me when I let out a sigh.

“I don't know. But let me tell you something. I did not kill your sister.”

“And do you expect me…”

“She was like a sister to me as well, Maximus. Moreover, what benefit do I get by killing her?” I interrupted him, but when he didn't speak, I continued. “Look, this isn't a conversation to speak over the phone. But someone has used my identity to kill her.”

“And how are you certain about it?” he asked me in a calm tone.

“I looked through my events when I found out something interesting on the day your sister was murdered, Maximus. My pack was attacked by a group of rogues, and I was badly injured and was admitted to the hospital.” I told him.

“And do you expect me to believe this?” He asked me, and I knew he wouldn't believe it that easily.

“I have proof. But I want to meet you in person and talk about this issue.” I told him. The line became quiet for a while except for the sound of breathing.

"Okay," he finally agreed.

“I will come to meet you in a few hours.” I suggested.

“We can meet tomorrow,” Maximus told me.

“I am flying out of the country tomorrow, Maximus. But before that I need to make sure that the misunderstanding between us is cleared, and I want an assurance that you will not attack my lack again," I told him.

“Okay, meet me at eight pm," he told me when I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

“Thank you so much. I will come.” I told him when I disconnected the call.”

“What would you do if it were Antonella?” Zane asked me.

“I will bring her back home. And he would not have the right to object since she is still my mate," told Zane, but it looked like he wasn't keen on my idea, but right now I didn't have much time to waste. The blood moon is tomorrow, and if I miss it, I will lose my mother forever.
