Chapter 58 Hyacintho Lunar

The wolves that were the Blood King fled as we gave chase. We managed to kill a few of them but the rest got away. I had some of the warriors take our injured to the pack hospital while I and the rest cleaned up the area.

Hyacintho Lunar has a proud history. We have rarely lost a fight and no one dares to threaten us. But the Blood King was not afraid of us.

Hyacintho Lunar started back in Europe. It was one of the first lycan packs to move to the new world when Sari reigned as Queen. We have lived in this area for centuries. We have seen and grown through a lot. We are the oldest pack in the United States. Our territory surrounds the green mountains. It is huge when compared to other packs’ territories. We only have three towns in it, to house and employ our pack. The packhouse is located between the three towns. We have many allies in the area. They include both lycan and witches. Since Mom joined the pack, our allies now include vampires and the fae.

Hyacintho Lunar was still formidable. We encountered the occasional rogue or wanderer but no other packs attacked us. With the exception of Mom’s family, vampires avoided us. Aside from our witch allies, the witches didn’t come here. Neither did the fae until recently when they became our allies.

Day One

It was time to prepare for war. We asked our allies if they could take the children and the vulnerable and keep them safe. We only had a week to prepare ourselves. School was closed for the time being. Businesses boarded up and those who didn’t or couldn’t fight were evacuated.

Training became rigorous. Instead of having separate groups, we combined them all. We trained in wolf form except for the vampires. Everything was going well.

It was almost like a ghost town around the territory. There was no laughter from the children. No babies crying. The playgrounds were empty. It was eerie and a little depressing. A few fights broke out but we handled those quickly. I tried to stay close to Aunt Scarlett to reassure her.

“Aunt Scarlett, I know how scared you are. If you don’t want to fight, you could stay in one of the bunkers, if you want,” I said.

“I’ll be fine. I will fight with you,” she said.

“I won’t let him get to you, I promise.”

“I know, EJ. But don’t worry about me. I survived him once, I can do it again.”

We went back to the packhouse. It was quiet without the twins here. I feel sorry for the people they are staying with. They have their hands full with those boys.

I found Mom and Dad in the kitchen. We had sent the staff away with the children, so Mom and Dad were cooking for everyone still here. I helped them get the meal ready.

After dinner, it was back to training. This time I let Max out. He was getting upset with me because I was letting Zeus out more than him.

Day Two

I woke up to the smell of bacon. I realized Mom and Dad must be making breakfast already. I got dressed and headed downstairs. Once in the kitchen, I greeted my parents and got to work helping them. The dining hall would be full today.

After breakfast, Dad and I went to his office. We started making calls to our allies for reinforcements. We didn’t know for sure if we would need them, but better safe than sorry.

We went to training after we made the calls. Coach York was lecturing two guys who had been fighting. We were all under a lot of stress and some just couldn’t handle it very well. It didn’t matter that we were all on the same side, fights still broke out due to the stress of the situation. I would have to find some way for everyone to get a little stress relief.

“If everyone is ready, let’s begin today’s training,” Dad said. “We will stay in human form this morning as I want to see everyone’s skills in hand to hand combat. I have seen you all fight as wolves and you are all doing well. Now I need to see you fight as humans just in case, for some reason, you cannot shift. We do not know how long the fight will last. And your wolves will get exhausted at some point. So you may need to fight in human form for some portion of the fight. Let’s begin!”

Everyone took their stances, choosing which fighting style they wanted to start with. Over the years, they had learned many different styles.

Overall, training went well. We did have to change up a few groupings due to actual fighting, but it went mostly well.

After training. I helped Mom and Dad with lunch. We talked about things while we cooked.

“Dad, I think we need to let the people relax a little. They are pretty stressed out and I think that is why they are getting into more and more fights.”

“We have a lot to do yet, son. But I see your point. Maybe after lunch instead of training we could let them do something fun to take their minds off of things for a bit. What do you think?” Dad asked.

“I think that is a great idea. Maybe we can open up the bowling alley and the basketball courts and the movie theater. I bet everyone would like that.” I said.

“I’m sure they would love it,” Mom said.

“Then it is settled. I will have Taylor open the bowling alley, York open the basketball courts, and Kit can open the movie theater.” Dad said.

We finished making lunch and made the announcement while everyone was eating. They made a lot of excited noise. It got very loud for a minute but then it died down as everyone went back to eating.

After lunch, I went with Aunt Scarlett to the movies.
