Chapter 91 Chapter 42

Chapter 91 Chapter 42
"Your wife is two weeks pregnant, Sir Wingston. Congratulations! She needs to take a break—away from pain, stress, and everything that could cause her negative emotions. I'll prescribe the vitamins she needs to take. You should take good care of her because her pregnancy is very fragile—"

"What happened?" Lhalhaine asked, holding her head.

While Mikael was at the doctor's office, his eyes remained fixed on the woman. He carefully studied her face before his gaze slowly traveled down to her body.

"You are pregnant, Mrs. Wingston. Congratulations. I'm Doctor Mari Elliyian San Diego. Doctor Cyrex asked me to examine you. I've already given the necessary instructions to your husband. I'll take my leave now," the woman explained formally.

As she turned to leave, she stopped in front of Mikael.

"Keep your eyes on your wife, not on another woman. Respect her the way she respects you. Women deserve to be loved, not hurt. Remember this, Mr. Wingston. Your wife is pregnant—she needs your attention and care—"

Mikael interrupted her before she could continue.

"Have we met before? You look so familiar..."

"Excuse me?" the doctor asked, raising an eyebrow.

Lhalhaine's gaze shifted back and forth between the two. Her mind couldn't process whatever they were talking about. The only word she truly understood was pregnant.

She looked up when the door suddenly opened and her sister, Lara, rushed inside, followed by her husband, Maximo. Worry was written all over their faces.

"Lyn, darling, are you okay? I-I'm sorry... I didn't know. I'm sorry for your loss," Lara said, her voice filled with concern.

"Sister..." Lhalhaine murmured, and suddenly, tears streamed down her face.

"Shhh... I'm here. Just cry. Let it all out," Lara whispered as she hugged her tightly and gently stroked her back.

Lhalhaine cried endlessly in her sister's embrace.

Lara gently caressed Lhalhaine's cheek as she slept soundly on the hospital bed.

Even now, she still couldn't believe Tyeron was dead.

Her heart ached for her cousin. She knew how painful it was to lose someone you loved, especially now that the two were about to have a child. Surely, their clan would be thrown into chaos once they learned the truth.

But that wasn't her concern right now.

Her priority was helping Lhalhaine.

She glanced at the two men who were talking seriously nearby.

"Kael... are you sure? Is Tyeron really dead?" Maximo asked.

Among the six of them, Maximo had always been the closest to Tyeron. Lara knew that deep inside, her husband was desperately hoping none of this was true.

Mikael averted his gaze.

"Let's talk outside," he said quietly before leading Maximo out.

Lara simply sighed, wondering what would happen next.

Mikael rubbed his face while Maximo leaned against the hospital rooftop wall.

"Tell me the truth, Kael. I know Tyeron is alive. He's not dead. Where is he?" Maximo asked, staring directly into Mikael's eyes.

"Max..." Mikael murmured.

Maximo sighed.

"Is this because of the organization? Are they hiding Tyeron? Come on, bud. Just tell me the truth."

"You know the rules, Max."

"Just tell me! If he's alive, just say yes. I won't ask for anything else."

Mikael let out a deep sigh.

"Okay... fine. Yes."

Maximo froze.

"But he's in critical condition, Max. The enemy will keep hunting him if they find out he's still alive. Please... keep this a secret for now—"

"How about Lym?" Maximo interrupted. "She's pregnant, for Pete's sake! The grief and resentment she's carrying because of what you told her will affect her pregnancy. You have to tell her, bud. She deserves to know... for the sake of their child."

"I can't. If I do, everything will become even more complicated. Tyeron needs medical care right now. If I tell Lhalhaine the truth, she'll force me to reveal where he is. You already know what will happen if that happens."

He lowered his head.

"Don't worry. Sooner or later, I'll tell her. Just... not now. Everything is still too chaotic. Meruem and Tyeron are in the organization's private hospital, but Tyeron's condition is much worse. Please, Max... understand."

Maximo sighed.

"Whatever."

He turned away.

"Max... hey. I'm sorry, okay?"

Without looking back, Maximo simply raised one hand in acknowledgment.

Mikael buried his face in his hands, struggling to suppress the overwhelming emotions threatening to consume him.

Slowly, he sat on the rooftop floor.

"Bud... you need to survive. Especially now that you and Lhalhaine are going to have a child. I'm sorry I made her cry. I promise I'll make it up to you."

He looked up at the clouds.

"I'll watch over her for you. I promise."

Lhalhaine stayed in the hospital for only two days before deciding to move into Lara's house.

It had already been a month since she arrived in Nevada. Her parents kept asking her to come home, but Lara always answered their calls and made excuses on her behalf.

Even now, she still couldn't accept that, in the blink of an eye, the man she loved was gone.

Every night, she cried herself to sleep.

She missed him so much.

If it weren't for the child growing inside her, she might have completely lost herself. Perhaps she would have ended her own life from the unbearable grief.

She forced herself to stay strong—for the only piece of Tyeron he had left behind.

"Baby..." she whispered, gently rubbing her slightly rounded belly.

Doctor Mari Elliyian San Diego checked on her every week, and Mikael was always by her side.

The doctor naturally assumed Mikael was the baby's father.

Mikael never corrected her.

His face remained blank, unlike before, when his eyes were always filled with mischief and life.

She knew he was hurting too.

None of them had been allowed to attend Tyeron's wake or funeral because his father had forbidden it.

On the day of his funeral, she cried until she collapsed.

She never even got to see the man she loved one last time.

She had been rushed to the hospital after suffering heavy bleeding.

Throughout it all, Mikael kept apologizing to her.

She could see the guilt and sorrow in his eyes.

She was now inside her room.

Today marked the second month of Lara and Maximo's twins.

Their children, Maximore Lhore and Maximinian Claire Winston, were both adorable.

She couldn't help but wonder what her own baby would look like.

"I hope it's a baby boy," she whispered as she gently stroked her belly.

Her eyes landed on the framed picture of her and Tyeron beside the mirror.

A bitter smile appeared on her lips.

Moments later, she wiped away the tears in her eyes after hearing a knock on the door and Lara calling her from outside.

"It's hard, Tyeron... because you're no longer here," she whispered before opening the door, forcing a smile onto her face.
