Chapter 269
Chapter 269
"Isabella, let's hand everything over to the authorities next." Faye was getting excited watching from the side.
Isabella and Bianca exchanged glances and said with a smile, "Already done."
Faye blinked, not expecting Isabella to move so fast. But that wasn't what Isabella had said in the livestream earlier.
"Isabella, you're amazing! Were you trying to trick Chase?"
Isabella smiled slightly, "Not exactly. I was thinking about whether they might get even bolder."
The main purpose was to get the authorities to notice some of the operations inside the Moore Group.
The Moore Group was a huge entity, naturally the target of other companies' ambitions.
This move was somewhat risky and might deal a heavy blow to the Moore Group, but now the Moore Group wasn't theirs alone anyway. Since they couldn't have it all, there was no need to worry so much.
"I can see the light of victory." Faye was as excited as ever.
Isabella's mood wasn't as heavy as before either.
Just as Isabella expected, within a day, Cleo and Liam were taken away by the police.
Chase, under attack from all sides, could only contact Hayden.
"Grandpa, you have to help my dad, he's been taken away."
"I know."
Hayden's response was very calm.
This made Chase on the other end of the phone frown, "Grandpa, did you hear me? Both my parents have been arrested. Can you see if you can find someone to help? My dad was set up. If that doesn't work, let my mom take the fall for my dad."
Hearing this, Hayden let out a light laugh.
Jett beside him also frowned. Even crows know to feed their parents, yet Chase actually wanted to push Cleo into a dead end.
"Grandpa."
Not getting a response from Hayden, Chase grew irritated on the phone, "Time is tight. There are people causing trouble in the company, and several other companies are eyeing the Moore Group like wolves. If you don't step in now, the Moore Group is really going to be finished."
This was somewhat exaggerated, just Chase's tactic to make Hayden solve the problem faster.
"How the Moore Group ended up in your hands—don't you have any idea?"
"Grandpa!"
Chase quickly said, "This is different. No matter what, the Moore Group belongs to us, the Moore family. When our family competed with Matthew, wasn't it because Matthew had that incident abroad? If the Moore Group didn't fall into our hands, it would have fallen into someone else's. Or would you rather see the Moore Group fall into other people's hands?"
Hearing Chase's questioning tone, Hayden felt that Liam's family was truly done for.
"What your parents did themselves, I won't get involved. Just like all those things you did at the Moore Group before, you have to take responsibility for your own actions."
"Grandpa!"
Chase started to panic. How could Hayden not care about this?
But Hayden hung up the phone.
Chase wouldn't give up and kept calling Hayden's number. Hayden couldn't be bothered and tossed his phone aside.
Jett carefully looked at Hayden's expression and said gently, "Mr. Moore, people arrested for drunk driving will still get out. Now that the Moore Group's situation is so bad, if..."
Before he could finish, Hayden interrupted, "I understand everything. I don't want to deal with it anymore. I don't have the energy to teach them again."
If they could really be taught, they wouldn't have turned out this way after all these decades.
Seeing he couldn't get through to Hayden, Chase contacted the Morris family.
Dane was inclined to help the Moore family, but Isla stopped him.
"Dad, I know you want to help the Moore family, all for me to have a better life. But ever since Chase got the Moore Group, Cleo has been targeting me. As for Liam, we haven't had much contact. But what's important is that the Moore Group is still in Chase's hands, and that's good enough."
Dane understood what Isla meant, but he was still hesitant, "But Chase is still young. Can he hold up the Moore Group by himself?"
"Dad, whether he can or not, he needs to learn to stand on his own now."
Isla said calmly.
Verity also thought Isla was right. As long as Chase was fine, the Moore family would be fine.
"Alright, don't worry too much about this. If the Moore Group is short on people, it's not like we don't know anyone."
Isla nodded in agreement with this.
Seeing that Isla didn't object, Dane went along with it.
Their conversation was overheard by Quincy. He closed his eyes, "Don't get involved in the Moore family's business."
"Dad!"
Dane didn't expect Quincy to stop him too, "Isla already said not to help Liam, and I agreed. Why are you still stopping me?"
Quincy just looked down on him, thinking Xavier and Zach were better than him!
Verity also had an issue with Quincy in her heart and said quietly, "Dad, Isla is being sensible. She even said if the Moore family is short on people now, we can send our people to help the Moore family."
Quincy looked at these two who still hadn't learned anything, closed his eyes and said, "Idiots! How did you two even fall for each other in the first place?"
Verity was hurt by Quincy's words and immediately teared up.
Dane looked at Quincy with a dark expression, "Dad, just stay out of my business."
Quincy stared at Dane, breathing a bit heavily, "You think I want to deal with you? As long as you cut ties with me, and whatever happens to you in the future has nothing to do with us, the Morris family, then I won't care!"
Isla was more perceptive than Dane and Verity. She immediately looked at Quincy, "Grandpa, do you know something?"
Quincy looked at Isla and sighed inwardly. This child was smart, but unfortunately not the Morris family's own.
"Someone is investigating the Moore Group. Unless the Moore Group can really stand up to scrutiny, don't get involved."
Isla's face immediately turned ugly.
Quincy noticed something was wrong and immediately said, "Do you know something?"
Isla pressed her lips tightly together, struggling with whether to speak up.
Dane's rationality returned a bit, and he also looked at Isla, "Isla, if you know something, say it quickly. This matter is quite serious."
Isla's heart was pounding. She looked at them both, "I only overheard it. It's about Ash."
"Speak up!"
Dane's tone became urgent.
Quincy kept staring at Isla too.
Isla lowered her eyes and quietly told them everything she had overheard.
"After I heard all that, I came back. I didn't get involved in any of it, so I thought about distancing myself from the Moore family, so I'd still have a way out later."
"You did the right thing." Quincy praised, "Much smarter than your parents."
