Chapter 120

Chapter 120

"I got it." Sarah kept her head down and didn't say another word.

Rachel glanced over at Kevin, who was standing nearby.

"Can you take us to the airport?"

"You came out in the middle of the night to rescue someone and ended up at this club. You do know what kind of people hang out here, right?"

"These rich kids don't care, as long as you're pretty and have a good figure, they'll take you in."

Kevin slipped his phone into his pocket and walked over to Rachel.

"I don't know why Vernon took an interest in this girl, but the only reason you both got away tonight is because I helped you. Vernon isn't kind-hearted. If it weren't for me, he would've taken both of you to his room and done whatever he wanted."

Kevin's words weren't an exaggeration. He often hung out with these people and knew their temperaments well.

At their core, they were rotten and driven by their baser instincts.

Rachel's eyes darkened. "You hang out with them often. Are you also picking out prey here?"

"Why would I ignore the beauty right in front of me to choose someone else?"

Kevin leaned in with a teasing smile. "Or is it that you want me to only play with you and not them?"

Rachel pouted and glared at Kevin. "Can you be serious for once?"

"Be serious with you? Not even possible." Kevin smirked lazily and whispered in her ear, "I know a lot of your secrets now. If you don't want the old man to find out, you'd better listen to me and stop throwing tantrums."

"Especially at the Smith Manor. What I say goes, and you can't defy me."

Rachel was taken aback and looked up at him. "Are you a prince or something? Why should I listen to you? I'm your stepmother! Don't you know how to respect your elders?"

"Respect? Didn't I show you enough respect when we were in bed? I'm the only one who can make you feel good. Isn't that a form of respect?"

Kevin licked his teeth, and seeing Rachel's face turn red like a boiled lobster, he smirked in satisfaction.

Sarah, standing nearby, was so scared by their conversation that she quickly looked away, her face blushing.

Rachel, realizing there was someone else present, pinched Kevin's waist. "There are others here. Can you not say such things?"

Kevin looked at Sarah and asked, "How old are you?"

Sarah bit her lip and shyly glanced at Kevin, noticing how his chiseled face was even more handsome than a celebrity's, making her heart race.

Sarah lowered her head and said, "Eighteen."

"Why aren't you in school? What are you doing here?" he asked.

Feeling pressured, Sarah replied, "I had a fight with my dad and don't have any friends at school. I decided to run away. I met a guy at an internet cafe, and he brought me here."

"You're past the age where someone can lure you away with a piece of candy. Just because a stranger says a few nice words, you think he's your knight in shining armor?"

"Girl, if it wasn't me here tonight and just Rachel, you would've not only endangered her but also yourself."

"Rachel is kind and helped you. Have you thought about how your poor judgment could have harmed this innocent Rachel?"

"What if she had been taken away with you? And with all those bodyguards around, how would you two women have escaped?"

"Your cowardice and tendency to run from problems not only ruin your life but also affect your father and this fool who helped you."

Sarah felt so ashamed that she buried her head deeper.

Rachel quickly pulled Kevin away.

"Can't you see I'm trying to lecture her?" he said.

Rachel pursed her lips, clearly annoyed. "You don't have to be so harsh."

"Then how would she understand the seriousness of this? Do you want to keep cleaning up her messes?"

Kevin crossed his arms, his sharp eyebrows showing his defiance.

Rachel, feeling helpless, tried to soothe Kevin. After all, he had saved her.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be trying to calm him down.

"Let's be fair. This incident taught her a lesson. She won't make the same mistake again. She's just a young girl, doesn't know much, and it's her first time out in the world. Who hasn't made a mistake?"

Rachel frowned and glared at Kevin.

Kevin scoffed, dragging out his words. "So, according to you, young people today can't be scolded? One scolding and they break down?"

"She's eighteen already. Are you still treating her like some child?"

Sarah was on the verge of tears, looking pitiful.

Rachel couldn't help but slap Kevin on the back. "Enough is enough! Just stop it!"

"It's not your place to decide how to educate a child. She has parents! Kevin, don't push your luck. Even though you saved us, you have no right to take over her parents' role."

Kevin, feeling the sting of the slap, arched his back in pain.

Rachel quickly moved in front of Sarah, holding her hand. "We both owe you for tonight. Sarah, thank him."

Sarah obediently thanked him. "I'm sorry, sir. I won't go out with strangers again. I'll remember this lesson."

Rachel coughed to break the awkwardness. "She apologized. Can you forgive her and stop lecturing her?"

Kevin stood in silence.

Rachel kicked his leg hard.

His perfectly pressed pants now had a dusty footprint, looking quite pitiful.

"Rachel!" he yelled in pain.

"Show some respect. You should call me Stepmom now!" Rachel shot him a glare.
