139. What is to Come?
139. What is to Come?
Fox POV
I woke up to Cesar on the phone. Was he talking to Ophelia? “Yes, that is a good person to call, I can get the numbers from Valentine.” He said. “He is doing okay, I am thinking about taking him home and helping him rest but we will see you tomorrow.” There was silence and Cesar laughed. He had to be talking to Ophelia. “Of course he will be in his tux, oh and Caden is out of the hospital, he could possibly help.”
I heard my cousin pause. “I can help you.” He went silent and then smiled. “Alright we will both see you at the wedding and I will let Greer in to get your dress and stuff.” There was a long pause and then he said, “good luck, but you don’t need it.” Then he put the phone down. My guess was Ophelia had ended the call without a goodbye.
Cesar turned to me. “What was that all about?” I asked and my cousin just smiled. “The only thing you need to do, is you need to send Ophelia the gang contacts you have in your phone.” He said and I stared at him. I went to speak but Cesar shook his head. “Look, I offered to help her and she was adamant that the both of us stayed out of it. All she wanted was the gang numbers and she didn’t tell me anything else, at least not about the situation in the city.”
My eyebrows came together. What was she up to? I had no idea, why would she need to meet with the gangs in the city? Some of them had turned on me, so why would she want to meet with those traitors. What was she planning? “Valentine, I know what you are thinking, but you got to let her do her thing. She knows what she is doing. You kind of raised her. Not really raised her but you taught her everything for the most part about this kind of thing. Let her show you what she can do.” Cesar said to me.
I couldn’t help but be a little worried for her, but Cesear was right. I pulled out my phone and got sent the numbers and names all to Ophelia. I hoped she knew what she was doing, this was a dangerous plan. We were getting married tomorrow, and she was planning on being there and having everything handled by then. It would all be done. I looked at Cesar. He looked so confident. As for me I knew I was showing him a face of apprehension.
Ophelia POV
I spent the last hour calling the gang leaders, it had gone smoothly enough. I told them who I was and what Murphy was planning. At that they all agreed to meet with me. I agreed to meet in the church I would be getting married in tomorrow. The priests would accommodate me, with Fox donating so much they let us use the space should we need to. As I called the gangs, I was working in EJ’s building.
Caden managed to get one of his contacts to bring me things I needed to build several bombs, and as I called people all this meeting I worked. Fuck, I loved chemicals. I kept a mask on, which was smart considering I was pregnant. I was not one to typically construct things like this, but I knew how to make this happen. It wasn’t one either. There was several and I planned to have the gangs take them to their targets. It was time the whole city realized who was in charge, the cops needed to come back under control.
So, I worked quickly. EJ, stood by me as I worked. I didn’t glance at him. I had limited time. Caden was helping me, he had gotten out of the hospital, and I put him straight to work. When everything was finished, he stared at me. “Ophelia you can’t go into the church alone, the gangs will.” Caden paused. “They will tear you apart, they will rape you, then kill you, you can’t go alone, you just can’t. Let me come with you.” EJ spoke next “Caden is right Ophelia it is not a good idea to go into the church alone.”
I looked between the two of them. “Help me get these things into the church and I want you both to wait outside for me. You will not be coming in with me. In fact after you help me load and unload you will go home and I will see you all at the wedding tomorrow.” They both looked at me like I was nuts. I then said “Look, brains are more important than brawn, and as I have both I know what I am doing.”
I refused to tell them the whole plan. All the two of them knew was I had constructed serval bombs and was meeting the gang members. Cesar only knew I was talking to them, but I decided to keep it that way. One person knowing all the information was more strategic than anything else. I needed to first show the whole city who was the strongest, that included the gangs, and I had no doubt they would do as I said.
Turns out having a job offer from terrorist came in handy and I planned to use everything I had to my advantage. I hated them and didn’t particularly want to do what I was going to threaten and by no means would I go through with it, but they didn’t know that. Other than the heads of the crime syndicate that Fox and I had generationally been a part of, everyone assumed he was dead. Or at least they didn’t know for sure he was alive, and like everything else at my disposal I would exploit it.
“Stop, both of you. I know what I am doing, and besides you both always trusted Fox.” They shrugged but also nodded. “Do you disagree I am one of his creations.” Caden spoke first “Fuck no, Valentine did a good job making you a monster, but you were also born a bit insane.” He paused. “No offense Ophelia.” I gave him a quick nod and looked at EJ “I agree with Caden.” I didn’t smile and then said “Well then fucking help me load this shit.” They began to help me.
