Chapter 102 - My Rebellious Luna

BECKY POV

BEFORE ATTACK ON ROGUE CAMP

All of this waiting is killing me. The look on Matt’s face told me something was very wrong. When Rob announced that something didn’t seem right with the lack of bodies in their homes, I wondered where everyone was. There was no one around protecting the pack and only one person was in the pack house. It looked and smelled like a set-up.

I turned to see Alpha Liam and Luna Rose standing by the entrance to the entertainment room. The look of worry on their faces made me even more nervous. I walked over to them and held Luna Rose’s hand. “I want both of you to be the first in the bunker.” Alpha Luke frowned. “The pack members know you both best, they will feel safe with you both there to greet them.” I said. Alpha Liam didn’t look convinced but reluctantly nodded.

We continued to watch as Rob backed up and gave us a view of our warriors that were waiting to attack the rogues. When it was time, Luke gave the order for them to attack and Jordan and the other warriors searched the farmhouse. I watched as a single heat blob ran into the packhouse. Luke. Maybe he should have had everyone come back when they saw how empty it was. How off everything seemed.

Was it worth going all the way in to check? I had no idea how he made these decisions, but it seemed like we were doing exactly what they wanted us to do. Suddenly, the screen was engulfed by a huge blob of heat and we heard explosions going off. Rob turned the drone and there was a huge blob of heat behind him too. I wondered if Luke had turned back if they all would have been engulfed by flames.

What am I talking about? They could be engulfed in flames right now. The drone quickly turned back around and removed the infrared vision. We could see dead rogues everywhere, but none of our warriors. There were a few wolves with signed fur pushing their way past the fire. It appeared everyone had made it past the site of the explosion. I hoped.

Matt’s radio went off and he stepped out of the room to answer. When he returned, he walked up to me. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “Luna, there are about a hundred wolves headed our way. The lookouts are headed back to assist us. We need to get everyone in the bunker.” Sergio got on the phone and within seconds the TV screen went blank. Rob was packing up and heading back by the looks of it. I let out a howl, alerting the warriors and pack members.

Manny and Sergio quickly got up and walked straight to the back door. They were ready to take their place in the bunker. They had a list of the pack members and were ready to check them in as the warriors brought them. Luna Rose and Alpha Liam came up behind me. “I think it’s best if I stay out here and help. This is all because of me after all.” He said. “If you stay, I stay too.” Lune Rose clung to her mate for dear life.

He may be right. His decisions led to all of this but I needed them to be safe. “I order both of you to get in the bunker now.” I ordered and they looked at me in shock. We didn’t have time for this. They both bowed and went out the back without another word. “Lilimar, please make sure they go into the bunker.” I said and she smiled nervously at me while nodding her head.

We were both still reeling from the explosions and how quickly things went wrong. At the same time, we could both feel that our mates were still alive and that gave us hope. Right now we needed to keep our heads straight and get our pack members to safety. “Where is Jerry?” I asked Matt. “He’s upstairs, he said he had a few surprises just in case something like this happened.” He seemed annoyed that Jerry was deterring from our plans.

I grabbed his arm and gave it a squeeze. “Let’s just focus on getting everyone in the bunker. If we have to, we will sic Sergio and Manny on him. How much time do we have before they reach the pack?” I asked curiously. “About an hour.” I looked at him in confusion. “What do you mean? I thought the lookouts were like two or three hours way.” This didn’t make any sense.

He shook his head and sighed. “The lookouts can’t mindlink this far, so they have radios. They must have sent someone ahead to jam the radios, someone they wouldn’t see. When they realized they couldn’t get through, they all began to run back to the pack. Their radios didn’t start working until they were about an hour away from here.” He explained.

All of this planning and that asshole Adam was always two steps ahead. “Wait a minute. That means whoever they sent to jam the lookout’s radios could be here now. What would be the first thing they would do?” I tried to think. “Luna, we have warriors watching the border. We need to get you to the bunker.” He said in frustration. “Stop Matt! We are always reacting instead of thinking ahead. I’m sure whoever jammed those radios is already here planning something.” I tried to reason with him.

He nodded his head. “I will have Jerry check all of the cameras and motion sensors to make sure they are up and running. I’ll also see if I can help with whatever surprise he has in store for them.” He got on his radio and tried to locate Jerry before taking me to the bunker. I had a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. We were at a huge disadvantage because we didn’t spend years studying.

them.

MATT POV

I could sense Becky’s unease. Our bond between Gamma and Luna is strong now. We’d been working together closely for the past weeks and I can see now how Lex and I misunderstood what we felt for her. “We respected and admired her.” Lex admired his Luna just as much as I did. She was right in thinking the enemy was closer than we thought.

The lookouts were a great idea but they were designed to catch large groups of wolves from a high tree line. They would never see one or two wolves stealthily moving below. Had we had enough time to put cameras and motion sensors in their place, we would have seen one wolf trying to sneak past it. Unfortunately, there is no time for what if’s right now.

I need to get my Luna into the bunker before she starts getting any wild ideas. We began walking towards the back door when Jerry finally came down with something that looked like a strait jacket with pockets. There were sticks of dynamite all over his chest. I hoped he knew what he was doing because if he blew himself up Becky would be devastated.

“Can you please make sure Celia is in the bunker for me.” Becky smiled as she mindlinked Celia. “We could easily have gone down and checked in person.” I tried to point out the fact that we needed to get her in there now. “Calm down!” She scolded me and Lex whined. “Yes, she’s there with your bestie Brian and her mother. You could have checked your tablet, you know. The list of everyone who is checked in is there.” She pointed out.

He nodded his head and looked at the tablet. “Sorry, I forgot about that. It looks like we are only missing two families and you.” He tapped on the screen some more. “Wait for me here, I’m going to drop off the Luna in the bunker and then we can search…” His eyes went wide and he swiped at the screen. “We have a problem. He showed me the screen and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This motherfucker!
