Chapter 101 - My Rebellious Luna
ALPHA LUKE POV
There were no surprises when we got here, which should comfort me, but it didn’t. Everyone was in position. Our first team was ready to attack the rogues and the second team was waiting for the first team so they could move into position and attack the pack. It was my job to enter the pack house and take care of Adam while my warriors handled the Dark Shadows warriors.
All pack members that weren’t attacking or fighting were to be confined in their homes. Unfortunately, we would have to threaten them to remain inside, since we couldn’t sit there and watch them. We didn’t want to kill innocents and would do our best not to.
I watched as Rob’s face turned to worry. “I’m going to check further into the pack grounds, something doesn’t seem right.” He searched every inch of the pack and shook his head. “There was only one person in the pack house, on the third floor. There is a large group of people in a farm house at the back, a little over a hundred. They are huddled around on the floor sleeping.” He continued to shake his head.
I knew exactly what he was thinking. “Jordan, when the warriors attack the rogues, take your team in and check the farmhouse. If they are pack members, barricade them in and come back to help with the rogues.” I instructed via mindlink. “I’m going to the pack house. Let Matt know something is off.” I told Rob and began to run towards the pack house. Whoever was in there was going to give me answers.
As I ran toward the make-shift camp at the border, I slowed down so that my warriors' position wasn’t given away. “Now!” I mindlinked and watched as my warriors began to simultaneously attack each encampment. We had caught them sleeping and the warriors were making quick work of them. Within seconds, they had taken care of almost half of the rogues.
I began to run past them and was able to see Jordan and his team running towards the location of the farmhouse. I ran up the steps looking at my surroundings cautiously. I’m sure Rob didn’t miss anything. That didn’t mean I was going to be careless. His infrared wouldn’t be able to detect if there were any traps. Kicking the door open, I stood back but nothing happened.
Hesitantly, I began to walk in and scan the room. With every second that goes by, I realize something is very wrong. There are no warriors or patrol guards. I quickly ran up the stairs and located the room where Rob saw the only person in the pack house. Kicking the door open, I see someone sitting in the chair behind the desk, but it’s not Adam.
“Who the hell are you and where is Alpha Adam?” I asked while looking around the room. “Alpha, Rob was informed that a large group of wolves were headed to the pack. Two of their cameras have been compromised. Everyone had been moved to the bunker.” One of my warriors mindlinked me. I tried my best to keep my composure and show no emotion. I need to get out of here quickly.
He stood up slowly and smiled. “I’m Robert, the Gamma of this pack. Alpha Richards is busy right now, how can I help you.” He grins and walked around his desk. “You can die.” I took a few steps but he quickly held his hands up and points a remote he has in his hands. “There are explosives hidden by the border in the rogue camps.” Quickly I mindlinked Jordan. “Get everyone a mile away from the border. EVERYONE!”
I needed to buy them time. “Where is my big brother then?” I asked, even though I already knew where he was and was dying to head back to the pack. “He’s busy, let’s not worry about him.” He pushed the button and a sequence of explosions could be heard from one end to the border until it reached the end. There was another set of explosions a few miles away from the border as well.
Before I could react, the Gamma had jumped out the window. Jumping out, I shifted and ran after him. “Jordan, if you are okay, take everyone back to the pack. Don’t wait for me.” I waited hoping my Beta was okay. Hoping everyone was okay. “On it!” He responded. I wondered if it was worth catching the Gamma. Would he tell me anything?
Before I could keep wondering, Rob’s van drove into the pack and ran over my pray. He proceeded to back up and run over him again. “No time! We need to go now!” He took off running over the Gamma one more time. Not needing any surprises, I ripped his head off and ran full speed behind my warriors. “Any casualties?” I asked Jordan. “A few were signed but recovered pretty quickly.” He responded.
We were glad Matt had thought up a quick way for us to mindlink large groups. Even as an Alpha, I could only mindlink about twenty people at a time. Those twenty were assigned fifteen. In less than five seconds, we were all on the same page heading back to our pack. Unsure of what we would find or what had been happening since we left.
“Alpha, there is a fire in our way. We will have to go around.” Jordan said. I roared, knowing what that meant. A forty-minute run could end up taking us twice or even three times as long. We had no choice but to go around it. “Rob took a few warriors, we can communicate with him now.” Jordan tried to provide some good news. Unless he could tell me everyone at Golden Moon was safe. There was no good news right now.
Once again, Alpha Adam got the best of me. The worst part is that all of this was done to stall me not kill me. That meant he was waiting for me to show up. I could feel that Becky was still alive and that gave me hope, but it also made me wonder what he had planned. “Alpha. Rob has some more bad news for you.” Jordan said hesitantly. “Spit it out.” I growled as I continued to run as fast as I could. The next words out of his mouth made my blood run cold.
