Chapter 80 A Sacred Gift.

Chapter 80.

Bunny’s POV.

I stood perfectly still in front of the full-length vanity mirror, watching as Xavier leaned down, his large hands carefully dropping a stunning, delicate silver necklace around my neck. The cool metal rested gently against my collarbone, catching the morning light beautifully.

“This looks beautiful,” I whispered softly, running my fingers over the pendant.

Xavier smiled, his reflection looking down at me with absolute satisfaction before he finally stepped away. God, this dude is so tall. So fucking tall. Standing at 6’4”, he completely towered over my 5’5” frame, making me look even more petite than I already was.

“I knew it would look perfect on you,” he murmured, adjusting his cuffs. “That was the exact reason I bought it.”

I smiled softly, turning back to the mirror to smooth down my outfit. Xavier and I had officially moved into the new house, and although the property was legally in my name, we had been living here together for the past three days. He had already moved in a few of his trusted staff members to handle the cooking and cleaning, making sure I didn’t have to lift a finger.

Regardless of how fast everything was moving, I absolutely loved that we were together like this. I loved that he was actually spending real, uninterrupted time with me. It felt really good to have him here. After all, what on earth would I be doing in this huge, sprawling house all by myself?

For the past three days, we had actually acted like a normal couple. We played video games, gisted late into the night, and even went to the luxury mall to completely fill up my empty walk-in closet. We shopped for different fits, and every single one of them looked fucking perfect on my hourglass figure. Xavier had made sure to buy me the exact clothes that I loved, balancing my personal style with the high-end looks he fancied seeing me in.

Today, I was wearing one of our new purchases… a high-waisted black pleated skirt that hugged my hips perfectly before flaring out, paired with a soft, cropped cream cardigan that showed just a hint of skin, and a vintage silk scarf tied elegantly around my neck. It felt classic, comfortable, and uniquely me.

“I should drop you off,” Xavier said, his deep voice suddenly breaking into my trance.

Dude didn’t even have any classes today, and the only thing he could think to do was laze around the house and keep me entirely to himself.

“I will be fine,” I whispered, turning around to face him.

Xavier went completely still, his eyes scanning my face for a long moment before he reluctantly nodded. “Okay. But let the driver take you to school. No arguments.”

I wanted to resist, but knowing Xavier means knowing you cannot resist his protective demands more than once. So, I just nodded gently, grabbed my bag, and headed out to the waiting car.

When the driver pulled up to the campus drop-off zone, my stomach tightened slightly. As I walked toward the courtyard, I didn’t even bother to stop and look at our usual waiting spot because I didn’t believe for a second that she would be there. Our last interaction had been so cold and distant.

But to my greatest surprise, she was standing right there.

“Leaving without me, huh?”

The exact moment those familiar words met my ears, I stopped dead in my tracks.

When I turned around, Clara was standing there, and she was wearing a bright, incredibly warm smile… as if nothing bad had ever happened between us.

“I… I am sorry,” I stammered, completely caught off guard. “I didn’t think you would wait for me today.”

Clara nodded dismissively, waving her hand in the air. “It’s fine. I know you got sad because of how I acted the other day, but honestly, that day I was just really angry about something personal.”

“Are you still angry about it?” I asked cautiously, searching her face.

Clara shook her head. Her smile remained bright. “Who stays angry at their father forever? I can’t hate him, regardless of what he does to me.”

That’s true, I thought to myself, a wave of relief washing over me. But deep down, I was softly cursing myself for letting my overthinking heart manipulate me into believing my best friend hated me.

We turned and began walking side by side toward the lecture hall.

“You look so beautiful today, Bunny,” Clara complimented, eyeing my new black pleated skirt and scarf.

I smiled warmly. “Thank you, Clara.”

I quickly swallowed the urge to tell her more. Her sudden shift in expression from the other day had really left me uncertain of what to think, but seeing her right now, I just wanted to know that Clara still loved me. I contemplated heavily as we walked, wondering whether I should open up to her about everything… about Xavier, the new house, and where I had been staying.

I didn’t want Clara to get angry again if she felt like I was keeping secrets, but I also didn’t want to hide my life from my best friend.

Regardless of my doubts, I finally concluded that I was just going to tell her the truth. But before I could even open my mouth to speak, a loud, obnoxious voice suddenly boomed from right behind us.

“Isn’t that my lovely girlfriend, looking like a fucking queen?”

Without turning to see, I already knew it was Daniel. His voice was too familiar to ignore.

“Isn’t it?”

Daniel groaned loudly, swaggering forward out of nowhere. Before I could even react or step away, he reached out and landed a hard, heavy smack right across my ass.

The sound echoed so loudly that my ass giggled… but not in pleasure. It was in pure disgust.

My breath hitched sharply in my throat, and my entire body went completely, terrifyingly still.

When I turned around to face him, the blood in my veins was boiling with pure, unadulterated rage. My eyes turned completely red as I stared at Daniel, whose lips were stretched into a wide, smug, and thoroughly satisfied grin.
