Chapter 79 HerAcceptance.

Chapter 79.

Bunny’s POV.

I stood completely still, unable to speak, move, or do anything. My feet felt like they were glued to the concrete pavement.

“You bought me a house?” I asked, my brows pulling together in a very tight, confused, and surprised knit.

Yes, I was surprised. I was finding it really hard to believe that an entire house had just been bought for me, just like that.

“Yes, I did,” Xavier answered smoothly, his arms folded across his chest, his dark eyes watching every single shift in my expression.

“Why?”

Those were the exact words that came out of my mouth instead of the regular excitement and happiness that anyone else would have in this situation. I was grateful. I was excited. I was deeply shocked, and I was still completely unable to process the sheer weight of what he was saying. But after years of suffering and having the rug pulled out from under my feet, all I knew how to do now was be even more logical than emotional. My brain automatically looked for the catch.

Xavier smiled softly, his harsh expression melting completely as he took a step closer to me. “I already know your aunt sent you packing, Bunny. And… and you need your own house. You need somewhere secure.”

“Why… why didn’t you just let me stay with you?” I pressed, looking up at him with confusion. “You have so many houses and… and staying with you would have reduced the cost of buying this.”

I knew this wasn’t supposed to be my concern, but the negative thoughts were already spinning out of control. What if he was already tired of being in the same space with me? What if he had a long line of girlfriends and simply could not stand the sight of me being there to disrupt his lifestyle? What if this was his way of distancing himself?

Different anxious thoughts played roughly in my head, but Xavier took another step forward. He reached down and grabbed my trembling hand firmly, his eyes softening as if he were reading my insecure thoughts clearly.

“If I can give up everything to stay with you, Bunny, I will gladly do it,” he said, his voice dropping into a deep, serious register. “I only took this decision because I know how much you love your privacy. I know you’ve been through a lot, and you deserve a sanctuary that belongs entirely to you. But who says you would have to live here alone? I will be sending some of my staff from the other apartment to come serve you and maintain the place, and I will also be here with you every single day. I just want this to be your home.”

My heart completely melted at his words. I stared at him, trying to understand how the hell he had noticed me this well, how he had managed to decipher my need for peace and space when I barely understood it myself. I had wanted to reject this, to protect my pride and tell him to keep his keys… but the raw truth was that I needed this house more than I could ever imagine.

So slowly, and very softly, I took a step forward and threw myself directly into his arms.

“Thank you,” I whispered softly against his broad chest, the last of my anger from the cafeteria completely evaporating.

Xavier smiled, his chest vibrating against my cheek as he wrapped his massive arms securely around my body. He began stroking my hair gently while I struggled to accept the reality of my life right now. I had really gone from being completely homeless to being a homeowner in just a very short space of time.

“Come,” Xavier murmured, pulling back slightly to look down at me. “Let me show you inside.”

I nodded gently, my hand slipping into his as he led me up the front steps. He pushed the large double doors open, and the moment we stepped inside, my breath hitched again.

The living room was absolutely breathtaking. It was huge, featuring massive floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the warm afternoon sun, sleek hardwood floors, and plush, cream-colored sofas that looked incredibly inviting.

“Xavier, this is… it’s too much,” I breathed, looking around at the elegant décor.

“It’s exactly what you deserve,” he replied, squeezing my hand. “I had the designers focus on neutral tones. I remembered you saying you liked spaces that felt calm.”

“You remembered that?” I asked, looking up at him in awe.

“I remember everything you tell me, Bum Bum,” he murmured, a rare twinkle of warmth in his eyes.

We walked further into the house, heading past the elegant dining area with its long glass table, and stepped straight into the kitchen. The moment we crossed the threshold, I couldn’t help but admire it. The kitchen was massive, fitted with state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, and a huge island right in the center.

“The kitchen is so big,” I remarked, running my fingers over the smooth marble surface. “You could fit an entire catering team in here.”

Xavier smiled playfully, leaning his hips against the counter as he watched me. “I made sure of that because I plan on spending a lot of time in here. I’m going to start taking cooking lessons from you.”

I chuckled gently, a teasing smirk playing on my lips as I looked him up and down. “Well, at least your fingers would learn to do something different aside from fingering.”

Xavier’s smile widened, his dark eyes instantly darkening with a sudden, wicked flash of heat. He stepped closer, his deep voice dropping into a dangerously low whisper. “And my mouth, Bunny… it would learn to eat your food. And, of course, to also eat the cook right here on this kitchen counter.”

My breath hitched sharply, a sudden wave of heat rushing straight down to my core as I felt my thighs instantly get wet. I bit my lip, looking away from his intense gaze, which only made him chuckle softly.

He didn’t push it further for now. Instead, he took my hand again and led me upstairs, guiding me through the hallways until he opened the doors to the master bedroom. It was a massive suite, dominated by a king-sized bed and a beautiful view of the backyard. He led me toward the walk-in closet, rubbing the back of his neck with a slight frown.

“I have to apologize for this part, Bunny,” he said, opening the closet doors to reveal a spacious but completely empty wardrobe. “The wardrobe hasn’t been filled with clothes yet. I had my team look into it, but…”

“It’s fine, Xavier, seriously,” I interrupted softly, touching his arm. “You’ve already done more than enough.”

“No, I still wanted it perfect,” he insisted, looking down at the empty shelves. “I was just too damn excited to show you the house today. I couldn’t wait another second, so I rushed you over before they could finish stocking it.”

Hearing him admit that he was excited just to show me this place did something to me. But as I stood in the center of the massive, quiet room, a sudden, heavy wave of emotion began to wash over me. Looking at every clean, luxurious corner of this huge house, my mind didn’t just see the wealth… it instantly reminded me of my childhood. It reminded me of my mother and my father before they died. It reminded me of how rich we used to be, how safe I used to feel, and how quickly everything had been brutally ripped away from me.

The contrast between my painful past and this sudden, overwhelming gift was too much to bear. The wall of strength I had built up over the years completely cracked. Before I could stop myself, I burst into heavy tears, my shoulders shaking violently as I covered my face with my hands.

Xavier noticed instantly. His face fell into deep concern, and he immediately surged forward, pulling my trembling body firmly into his chest.

“Are you okay, Bum Bum?” he asked, his voice thick with panic as his hands rubbed my back desperately. “Talk to me. Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong?”

“I… I am just… I am just missing my parents,” I whispered softly against his shirt, the tears spilling rapidly from my eyes, soaking into his fabric.

Xavier didn’t say a word. He just tightened his grip, pulling me even deeper into his suffocating, protective hug, anchoring me against his solid frame.

“They said they were going to protect me,” I sobbed out, the raw pain pouring out of my chest. “They promised they loved me. But they hurt me, Xavier. They left me all alone in this cruel world.”

Xavier let out a ragged breath, burying his face in my hair while his palm gently brushed against my head, stroking it over and over again to soothe the pain.

“It’s fine, Bunny. You have me now,” he vowed fiercely, his voice vibrating with absolute certainty. “From now on, I will be right here. I am never going anywhere. I will protect you from everything and everyone.”

My heart completely melted at his vow, the heavy grief in my chest softening under the warmth of his words. I rested my head firmly against his beating chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart until my sobs finally subsided.

Gently, Xavier pulled me out of the hug just enough to look at me. He reached up with his thumbs, wiping the damp tear tracks from my cheeks. We stared at each other for a long, silent second, our eyes searching gently across each other’s faces, uncovering every hidden layer of vulnerability.

There was no more anger, no more hesitation. Leaning into the heat between us, we finally pulled each other into a deep, desperate, and incredibly passionate kiss.
