Chapter 231 The Fear Of Losing Her

Chapter 231 The Fear Of Losing Her
ALESSANDRO

I was in the middle of a meeting when my phone vibrated on the table.

I ignored it at first. My attention was on the discussion happening in front of me until the screen lit up again.

Mia.

My eyes stayed on her name for a few seconds. A small smirk pulled at my lips.

Mia calling me? That was something I never expected.

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the phone.

After everything between us, the last person I expected to reach out to me was her.

I looked around the boardroom at my men.

“Meeting is over for today,” I said.

Nobody questioned me. One by one, they gathered their things and walked out of the room, leaving me alone with the silence that followed.

I picked up the phone and answered. “What do I owe this call?” I asked, my voice calm.

“I need your help.”

The moment those words left her mouth, my expression changed. I sat up straighter because Mia didn’t ask for help not from me, not from anyone. Something was wrong.

But I kept my voice calm. “What does the mighty Mia need my help for?” I asked.

“Elara is leaving the city tomorrow.”

Everything inside me froze, and the smile disappeared from my face.

I stood up slowly, the chair moving behind me as I walked toward the window.

My eyes looked out at the city below, but I wasn’t seeing any of it. My mind was stuck on one thing.

Elara. Leaving? Before I could even ask why, Mia continued.

“Adrian wants to wipe her memories.”

My hand tightened around my phone, and for a second, I couldn’t speak. Then my fist curled at my side as anger moved through me, hot and uncontrollable.

Her memories. Our memories. Everything she knew, everything she felt—Adrian wanted to take it all away.

“In case I fail, I will call you. Then you will come in,” Mia said.

I closed my eyes for a second.

The fact that Mia was trusting me with this meant she had no other option left.

“Understood,” I replied.

The call ended, and I slowly lowered my phone. Why would Adrian want to wipe his own sister’s memories? The question kept repeating in my head.

Was it because of me?

The thought came immediately, and I already knew the answer.

It was because of me.

I looked down at my hand, remembering every mistake, every moment I pushed Elara away, every time I hurt the person I claimed I wanted to protect.

I had caused too much pain. I had made too many mistakes. But I couldn’t change the past. All I could do was fix what I had broken.

I promised myself that I would change.

I would prove that I was not the same person who hurt her before. I would win Elara back, no matter what it took.

Fuck.

But now Adrian wanted to take her away from me. Not just physically he wanted to take away the memories that connected us. The moments. The feelings. Everything.

He wanted to erase them so completely that she would forget everything.

forget me, forget us. My jaw tightened because I couldn’t let that happen.

No matter what happened, I was working with Mia on this.

The same Mia who hated asking me for anything. The same Mia who would rather fight alone than admit she needed help.

For her to call me meant she was out of options. It meant I was the only hope she had left.

And I wouldn’t fail her. Not this time.

Even if it cost me my life, I wanted Elara to remember. Not the pain. Not the mistakes. I wanted her to remember the love.

I grabbed my phone again and dialed Dave’s number. He answered immediately.

“Prepare the men. We are going to Adrian’s mansion now,” I said.

“Okay, boss,” he replied.

I ended the call, knowing that no matter what it took, I wouldn’t let Adrian wipe Elara’s memories.
