Episode 147 || I Am Sorry
Christian sat inside his car and slammed his hand on the steering wheel. “I never listened to anyone’s suggestions before taking any decision. I always did what I wanted to do. Then why the fuck I agreed with Danny’s idea when he stopped me from telling the truth of the contract marriage to Mishka? Just Why?” He pulled his hair in frustration.
“I have to tell Mishka about Lia. I won’t give any chance to Lia to destroy anything.” He said to himself. “But what if the revelation negatively affects her health?” This question haunted him.
“No... No, she will be fine! I’ll make sure this doesn’t affect her, but now I have to disclose the truth even if it creates a rift between us,” He thought when a message from Luke flashed on his screen.
“Can you come with Eric and Mishka? Vera wants to see them.”
“Sure, we’ll be there in an hour or so,” Christian answered and started the engine of his car when it started raining heavily.
He had an unsettling feeling about something is not right. His chest was heavy with the guilt of lying. The only thing that made him feel less guilty was that he never cheated on Mishka, especially after marriage. In the beginning, he tried to trap her, but slowly everything changed and the contract marriage actually played cupid for them.
“End this, Christian,” He said to himself. “Mishka will understand.” He took a deep breath and drove to the Knight mansion.

Daniel came inside to ask for a plate from the servant when his school buddies came and he started chatting & playing with them, completely forgetting that Mishka might be waiting for him while Eric was playing around them, trying to catch their attention.
Mishka was sitting alone in the garden, drenched in heavy rainfall. All the negative thoughts clouded her mind. “You have snatched so many things from so many people. How can you possibly even imagine leading a happy life?” Her mind continued to berate her.
“Your husband is suffering because of you. Everyone in the family is always worried about you. You couldn’t be a good mom to Eric. You failed to be a dutiful sister to Aryan. You are such a big disappointment for everyone.” Her mind was tricking her again and sadly, she was falling into the trap.
“End this and free everyone. You will anyway not live a happy life. Curses always work, especially when it comes from a broken heart. Jessica’s curse will never let you live happily.” Her mind kept creating thoughts, and she put the pressure of the sharp edge on her wrist with her shivering hand.

Christian appeared in the living area and he encountered kids playing around while Eric was looking at them sadly. “Eric, please don’t disturb us right now. We’ll play later.” Daniel said, as he was more interested in playing with his friend.
Christian gave his jacket to the servant and called him. “Eric, come here!”
Eric came to where Christian was standing and the latter picked him in his arms, kissing his cheeks. “Don’t disturb Daniel. We’ll play, okay? Where is mama?” He asked, and Eric pointed towards the garden. Christian furrowed his brows. “Garden?” He asked, and little Eric nodded his head.
Christian dropped Eric on his feet and he again tried to mingle with Daniel’s friends while Christian took long strides towards the garden area. “What is she doing out in the heavy rain?” He wondered. His eyes roamed in the garden and finally spotted Mishka, who was sitting on the wooden couch, completely drenched. He could see her immobile posture facing the other side.
Christian jogged to where she was sitting and sat beside her. “Enjoying the rain?” He asked and Mishka looked at him, blinking her eyes, while he wiped water droplets off his face.
He turned to look at her with a broad smile, but her eyes were closing. Christian knitted his brows and then his eyes travelled to her hand, where he spotted the knife and her wrist bleeding. Mishka’s head dropped on his shoulder as he heard her murmuring.
“I am sorry,” She said, and her eyes closed.
Christian was stunned momentarily. “What the fuck you did?” He quickly gripped her bleeding wrist, snatching the knife from her other hand, throwing it away. “Mishka?” He cupped her jaw and tried to wake her, but she didn’t respond.
“Fuck, what the hell you did to yourself?” He screeched, picking her up in his arms, and rushed inside. “Call the doctor!!” He shouted loudly at the servant and lay Mishka on the couch in the living room. The kids gathered around them while Eric started crying, watching Mishka unconscious.
“Take kids away!!” He shouted and another set of servants quickly acted. “Get up, Mishka!!!” He tried to wake her up, but she didn’t respond. The servant appeared with a first aid kit, and Christian quickly bandaged her wrist. His heart was thumping against his chest and he cursed himself millions of times for leaving her alone.

Luke was watching the rain outside when Vera pressed the switch again to catch his attention and she succeeded. Luke looked at Vera. “Christian will be here in some time, I’ve informed him.” He said, and Vera’s corner of lips slightly curved up.
Luke came beside her bed and looked at her. “Can you move your face muscles, too?” He asked as he scrutinised her facial features, and to his surprise, Vera’s lips curved up again to confirm his suspicion.
Luke kissed her forehead. “Jesus! I can’t believe this. Christian is going to be thrilled.” But their happy moment interrupted as the door opened abruptly and Dr Ken peeked in.
“Luke, come outside.” He said. His expressions were serious and Luke nodded.
“I’ll be back, okay,” He said to Vera and walked out with Ken while Vera slightly frowned, looking at the closed door.
Minutes turned into hours, but neither Luke returned nor Christian. Vera was now getting restless thinking about them and she pressed the switch again to call the nurses.

Christian sniffed while removing tears from the corner of his eyes. He was standing on the balcony while the doctors were checking Mishka in the room.
Dr Ken appeared beside him and patted his back. “She is fine. The cut wasn’t deep, just minor. She fell unconscious due to stress.” He said, and Christian sighed in relief.
“I told you she needs professional help and….” Dr Ken said, but Christian cut him off.
“I am trying to fix an appointment with Dr. James, but he is booked for three days. I tried to book an appointment under VIP but…” Christian said and slammed his hand on the railing.
“But Mishka met Dr James this morning,” Dr Ken disclosed, and the news surprised Christian.
“What??” He shrieked.
“Yes, she luckily got an appointment and went to meet him. I discussed her case with James, so he called me after meeting Mishka. I thought you convinced her to meet him.” Dr Ken said, and Christian looked at Mishka’s sleeping figure in between the cuts of the white curtains.
“I-I have n-no idea. She didn’t inform me,” Christian mumbled. “Is it possible that James said something that triggered her?”
“Come on!! James is a doctor. He won’t say anything that might trigger her, but I believe you should meet James. He even told Mishka as well to bring you the next time. But looking at her condition, it’ll be better if you meet him alone. He is coming tonight to my place for drinks. I can arrange your meeting.” Dr Ken said.
Christian nodded, and Luke appeared at the scene. “Mishka needs you here, and I feel bad to mention Vera at this moment, but you need to visit her. She is waiting for you since morning. She wanted to meet Mishka and Eric as well, but.” Luke felt uncomfortable sending Christian away from Mishka, but Christian’s visit to Vera was equally important for him.
“Can’t I see her tomorrow?” Christian asked, scratching his neck and Luke shook his head.
“She’ll get suspicious that something is wrong and it might hinder her progress. Just visit her for half an hour. I’ll be here with Mishka till you return and dad will be back too.” Luke assured and Christian nodded.
“Okay, I’ll meet James and then will visit mom on my way back,” Christian said and took a glance at Mishka, who was sleeping peacefully. “Please don’t leave her alone even for a minute!”

It was already late evening. Christian was waiting for Dr James at Dr Ken’s residence when the doorbell rang and the servant opened the door for a handsome thirty-year-old doctor with a surreal smile on his face. Dr Ken welcomed him and introduced him to Christian, and then all three gentlemen settled on the couch to have an important discussion.
