Maya had been home all morning and didn't feel like going to the store today. Ever since losing to Donna last time, she felt her store couldn't compare to Donna's, and going there would just be embarrassing.

"Maya, you can't give up halfway. Your store just opened, and as the owner, how can you not go check on it?"

When Peter came downstairs and saw Maya still at home, he couldn't help but say something.

Maya was pregnant, but only two months along. She wasn't heavy at all, so going out for a walk would be good for her.

Peter had invested a lot of money in Maya's store, so he took this physical shop very seriously.

"Come on, I'll go with you to take a look."

Peter could tell from Maya's expression that she didn't want to move, so he offered to go with her. Maya couldn't refuse, but at least Peter agreed to just take a quick look, then he could take her shopping and buy some clothes.

When they arrived at the mall where the store was located, Maya deliberately glanced toward Donna's side and found that her store wasn't even open.

"Donna is still too young. She can't handle the pressure - closing up shop on the second day. How will customers stay loyal this way?"

Maya hadn't told Peter the whole story about what happened yesterday. She mainly talked about how good her store's business was. As for Donna doing even better, she didn't want to mention it, only saying that Donna had some customers too.

Peter didn't like reading entertainment news online anyway - he only cared about company stocks.

"Dad, don't worry about her. Once my store is fully developed, you can buy this whole mall. Then we can legitimately push Donna out."

Maya's fantasy was so grand that even Peter thought she was being too ambitious. This mall belonged to the Russell Group. Buying it from them would not only cost a fortune, but the Russell Group wasn't short on money, so very few people could buy anything from them.

"Rather than waiting for me to buy it, why not wait until you become Leo's wife? Then you can say a few nice words to Tristan and have him give you this mall."

Peter was guiding Maya - better not to spend his money if they didn't have to.

The fact that Calla hadn't brought the money back yesterday still bothered Peter.

Hearing this, Maya felt thrilled, as if she had already become the lady of the Russell family and could order Donna around at will. She forgot that even if she married into the Russell family, Donna's status would still be higher than hers.

As agreed, Peter went with Maya to inspect the store, then accompanied her to the clothing stores downstairs.

Peter got a phone call and found a quiet place to take it, telling Maya to go ahead and look around - he'd come pay later.

Maya walked into a clothing store. She had seen this brand in Calla's closet before and thought it didn't suit Calla's age. Now, looking at the store, it was clearly aimed at young women. Calla was just trying to look young.

"Welcome."

A clear, pleasant female voice sounded beside Maya. She turned to see a beautiful woman with a cool demeanor, and immediately felt annoyed.

In Maya's view, this woman's looks were top-tier. She shouldn't be working as a sales associate in a place like this. Most importantly, Maya had seen this woman before - at that club she went to with Leo last time.

Back then, Chloe was with Jasper, and Leo kept looking at her. If Maya hadn't been there, and if Jasper hadn't said Chloe wasn't available for service, Leo probably would have called Chloe over to drink with him right then and there.

Chloe quickly sensed the unfriendly look in the other person's eyes and soon remembered who she was.

"Ms. Coleman, do you have a preferred style?"

Since the other person was looking at her like that, she obviously recognized her too. Chloe hadn't forgotten the sticky gaze of the man beside Maya that day.

"No. You come help me look."

Maya pointed at Chloe, who immediately knew this would be difficult.

Jasper had said she only served high-end clients. After being taken away by Edward, he never let her serve customers again, saying he needed to keep her "clean" so that when Edward wanted her again, Jasper would have someone to offer - otherwise it would be hard to explain.

At first, she was happy about it - after all, she wasn't naturally cheap and didn't enjoy serving men. But who knew Jasper would only pay her basic salary? What could a few thousand dollars do?

Chloe volunteered to work, but Jasper refused. Not only couldn't she work at his club, but he also put the word out that no clubs in Silvermere could use her.

"What, does serving me make you unhappy?"

Maya grabbed a piece of clothing and threw it at Chloe, forcing her back to attention. Maya didn't hold back at all. The wooden hanger hitting her body hurt, but Chloe could only endure it.

"No, I just didn't sleep well last night."

"What do I care if you slept well or not? If you don't want to make money, get me someone else."

Maya was annoyed that a mere sales associate dared to disrespect her.

Chloe took a deep breath, then put on a flattering smile.

"Don't worry, Ms. Coleman. That won't happen again. Would you like me to help you try on all the items you selected?"

"Obviously, why else would I pick them?"

When Maya tried on clothes, Chloe went in too. Maya completely expected Chloe's service - even making Chloe kneel down to tie her shoelaces. Chloe could only show her displeasure when her head was lowered.

Looking at Chloe kneeling at her feet, Maya's vanity was greatly satisfied. So what if she was pretty? As long as she offended Maya, Chloe would have no good outcome. That day, she even tried to seduce her man; today, she would humiliate Chloe thoroughly.

But the other person seemed to have no temper at all. She let herself be scolded and hit without a single complaint. In the end, Maya selected five outfits and two pairs of shoes based on Chloe's recommendations.

Just then, Peter came back.

"Done choosing?"

As soon as Peter came in, he saw Maya looking displeased at Chloe, but Maya instantly changed her attitude when she heard Peter's voice.

"Yes."

After seeing Chloe's face, Peter's expression showed brief distraction. Then he looked at Chloe and frowned, his gaze moving down to see a bruise on Chloe's knee.

"What happened here?"
