Chapter 78: Advance Notification

Speaking of this, Leo couldn't help but straighten his back.

He could still sense Donna's feelings for him. It was just a shame that Donna had such strong pride; otherwise, she would have married him already. Now thinking about it, if he had married Donna, wouldn't Edward be the one left wanting what he couldn't have?

"Be smart, think things through before you act, and don't just listen to that Maya. As long as a woman is obedient and sensible, having kids is secondary. You need to know that once you're in that position, there'll be plenty of women wanting to have your children."

Robert reminded him again not to put all his focus on Maya, who was a deeply scheming person.

"Got it."

Leo was now busy thinking about how to deal with the situation, and didn't even notice Maya's incoming call.

......

Edward put Donna on the bed, but suddenly she hooked her hand around him and pulled him onto the bed too. He tried to pull away twice but couldn't.

"Donna, let go of me."

But how could a drunk person listen? Donna even hugged him tighter.

"You can't leave. I finally got you. I paid for you."

Donna mumbled. Edward was completely confused - what was she imagining him to be now?

"I see you're wearing makeup. Let me go so I can wash your face."

Edward had just seen online today that after girls put on makeup, they need to remove it at night, otherwise it's bad for their skin.

But from his angle, looking at her, he couldn't even see her pores. Her skin was smooth and delicate - where did she need makeup?

It seemed he touched on a keyword, as Donna finally let him go and sat up in bed.

"I need to remove my makeup."

As she spoke, she tried to get off the bed, swaying unsteadily. If Edward hadn't caught her in time, she would have fallen to the floor.

"You can't even walk straight. Stay on the bed, I'll get it for you."

Edward walked to the bathroom and looked at all the bottles and jars on the counter, carefully reading the labels. After figuring out the makeup removal process, he decided to bring Donna in.

In the bathroom, Donna was as soft as mud, completely relying on Edward's one arm around her waist while his other hand worked on her face. This whole ordeal took half an hour.

Finally, he got Donna out of the bathroom. As soon as Donna lay on the bed, Edward noticed her clothes and had to take out her pajamas from the closet and patiently change her into them.

After that, he quickly tidied himself up and hurried back to bed, pulling Donna back before she could fall off.

"You'd better remember this tomorrow morning."

Edward threatened in a low voice, though he knew she wouldn't hear him. After saying it, he even laughed at himself.

Right now, Donna had some damp hair on her forehead that he'd gotten wet, making her look fragile and charming. Edward inexplicably thought about what she looked like when they made love, and suddenly a thought popped into his head: what would it be like to make her cry during sex?

But in the end, Edward still couldn't bear to wake Donna up.

When Donna woke up the next day, she had a terrible headache. When she slowly sat up in bed, she noticed signs that someone had slept beside her. She didn't need to think to know who it was.

But how did she get home last night? She had no memory of it at all. Did Luna get home safely? Thinking of this, she quickly sent Luna a message. No reply - clearly she wasn't awake yet.

Her stomach was a bit hungry. She put on slippers, freshened up, and went downstairs.

"Nova, thanks for taking care of me last night."

Donna rubbed her eyes and casually said this as she came downstairs, but didn't hear the maid Nova's response. When she looked over, she found only Edward sitting downstairs.

Donna's steps paused slightly. "Why are you here?"

"This is my home. If I'm not here, where should I be?"

Only then did Donna realize she'd spoken without thinking, so she quickly explained.

"Go wherever you want. I just thought you'd gone to work."

"After taking care of a drunk last night, I really don't have the energy to go to work today."

Edward said meaningfully. Donna finally caught on and quickly walked up to him, pointing at her clothes.

Edward nodded.

"I changed them."

Donna pointed at her face again.

Edward still nodded.

"I washed it."

Now it was Donna's turn to be stunned. When she woke up this morning and saw herself with makeup removed and in pajamas, she'd been thinking Nova's salary was well spent. Turns out Edward had done all of this.

"What did I do to deserve Mr. Russell's help?"

Donna sat down across from him, feeling guilty, and picked up the sandwich in front of her to take a bite. Before she could swallow, she heard him say:

"I made breakfast too."

Donna held the bite of sandwich in her mouth, unable to swallow for a long time.

"I didn't do anything inappropriate last night, did I?"

Donna was so embarrassed that she wanted to escape immediately. The problem was that she couldn't remember anything from last night. If she'd accidentally offended Edward, she wouldn't even know how she'd die.

Seeing her nervous movements, Edward was in a great mood. Including helping her clean up last night, Edward hadn't felt uncomfortable at all. Instead, he was more critical of his own technique. He remembered Donna could finish removing her makeup in ten minutes in the bathroom. Looks like he needs more practice in the future.

"Think about it yourself."

Edward gave such an ambiguous answer that Donna felt even more mortified.

"Why did you go drinking?"

The topic changed so quickly that Donna almost couldn't keep up with his thinking.

"Because I was happy. Everything in my store sold out yesterday, and I opened several pre-orders. As the boss, of course, I was happy, so Luna suggested we go for a drink. I didn't know my alcohol tolerance was so bad."

By the end, her head hung lower and lower. She'd never been completely drunk before, so she didn't know where her limit was. After last night, now she knew.

Edward put down the document in his hand and seriously warned her:

"Don't go drinking alone in the future. If it's a special situation, tell me before you drink. It's very dangerous for a woman to be out alone."

Thinking about those four thugs last night, Edward felt inexplicably panicked. If he hadn't arrived in time, with Donna's thin arms and legs, she definitely would have been bullied. He didn't want her to get hurt.

"Even my dad never controlled me like this."

Donna acted tough for a moment, but after receiving Edward's warning look, she immediately promised:

"I said I got it. From now on, I'll definitely report to you before drinking. And will you still come pick me up?"

Edward smiled. "If I don't come pick you up, who do you want to pick you up?"

Donna smiled too.
