Chapter 117 The End of Disaster

Chapter 117 The End of Disaster
As the team secured the immobilized Beast, they wasted no time in packing up everything that could potentially be used to trace them. They knew that their location had already been compromised once, and they couldn't risk leaving any evidence behind.

Their van, carefully hidden nearby, had been prepared for a swift departure. The team members had already loaded their gear and were ready to make their escape once they left the building.

With the immobilized Beast as their captive, they left the room behind, leaving behind the chaos and destruction caused by the firefight. The police would arrive soon to take custody of the captured criminal mastermind.

Carol took the lead in fetching the van as the rest of the team moved quickly to exit the building. They had to act swiftly, knowing that they were now vulnerable with the police and the Beast's criminal associates converging on their location.

As they sprinted towards the van, a sudden gunshot pierced the air. Rick, who had been struggling with his injuries from the earlier confrontation, took the hit. Pain flared across his chest as he stumbled backward, blood staining his clothing.

Sergio reacted with lightning speed, firing his weapon three times at the source of the gunshot. The injured Beast's associate, now fatally wounded, fell to the ground, lifeless.

The team members rushed to Rick's side, their faces etched with concern. They knew that they couldn't afford to waste any time.

As the team rushed to Rick's side, their training and instincts kicked in. Carol, with her medical knowledge, immediately assessed Rick's gunshot wound. Blood stained his clothing, and his breathing was labored.

They did everything they could to stabilize Rick, applying pressure to the wound, attempting to control the bleeding, and trying to keep him conscious. But the gunshot had taken a severe toll on him, and his condition continued to deteriorate rapidly.

Carol, despite her best efforts, could see the life draining from Rick's eyes. She tried every method at her disposal, but it was clear that time was not on their side. Rick's injuries were too severe.

Mia knelt beside Rick, tears streaming down her face as she clutched their baby in her arms. She begged Rick to wake up, her wails of desperation filling the air. But there was no response. Rick's eyes grew distant, and his breathing became shallower.

The team members knew that they couldn't stay there any longer. The police would soon arrive to secure the captured Beast, and their own safety was at risk. They had no choice but to leave Mia and the lifeless body of Rick behind.

Amid Mia's heart-wrenching cries, Carol approached Claus, her voice choked with emotion. "Claus, we can't stay here. Mia will be safe with the police. We have to go now."

Claus, torn between his loyalty to the team and his concern for Mia, hesitated for a moment. But he knew that Carol was right. They had to leave to ensure their own safety.

Reluctantly, Claus allowed himself to be pulled away from the devastating scene. The team members left Mia, still clutching her lifeless husband, at the venue and sped off in the van, their hearts heavy with grief and determination.

Mia was left alone with her grief, the lifeless body of Rick, and their innocent baby in her arms. The world around her seemed to blur as she clung to the hope that somehow, against all odds, Rick would wake up and they would find a way to be together again.

As Mia clung to the lifeless body of Rick, her world shattered and grief consumed her. She was alone, except for their innocent baby in her arms, and the weight of the situation pressed down on her.

Meanwhile, in the distance, the wailing sirens of approaching police cars grew louder. The team's actions had not gone unnoticed, and law enforcement was converging on the scene.

The police arrived, their lights flashing, and they quickly secured the area. They arrested the immobilized Beast, who could only seethe with rage as his empire crumbled around him. Handcuffed and defeated, he was led away by the officers.

Paramedics arrived with an ambulance, ready to provide medical attention to those in need. They assessed Rick's lifeless form and sadly confirmed what Mia already knew in her heart – he was beyond saving.

With gentle care and empathy, the paramedics took over, ensuring that Mia and the baby were physically unharmed. They offered her support and comfort in her moment of profound loss.

Claus, still torn by the decision to leave Mia behind, found solace in the knowledge that she was now in the hands of the police and paramedics.

The police officers conducted a thorough investigation of the scene, collecting evidence and making sense of the chaotic events that had unfolded. They were determined to bring all those involved in criminal activities to justice, including any remaining associates of the Beast.

As the ambulance departed with Mia and her baby, accompanied by a police escort, Mia looked back at the scene one last time. Her heart ached for Rick.

Later that evening, Mia is being questioned to give her statement of the incident. Mia sat in a small room at the police department.  Her eyes were swollen from tears, but her resolve was unwavering. She knew the importance of the story she was about to tell.

A police officer entered the room, offering a reassuring smile. "Mrs Mia Johnson, we understand that this has been a traumatic experience for you. We just need your statement to piece everything together."

Taking a deep breath, Mia nodded and began her scripted story, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and sorrow.

"Officer, it all started when I received a call from an unknown number claiming they know where my husband is. I was on the way to the police department to report when I got kidnapped."

As she spoke, Mia recounted how she was kept in the room with El Patrio's men watching and torturing her husband. They said she had to tend to the baby and that was her duty."

"We were at that building, and suddenly, the Beast and his men stormed in," Mia continued, her voice shaking. "El Patrio tried to reason with his father, but the Beast... he killed El Patrio right there, in front of us."

The police officer listened intently, taking notes as Mia spoke. She described how the Beast's men had threatened her, and she had no choice but to comply with their demands. Mia painted a vivid picture of the chaotic scene, emphasizing the fear and desperation she had felt.

"The Beast and his men were furious that El Patrio had gathered evidence against him," Mia said. "They wanted to destroy everything he had to cover up their crimes. They even threatened to harm the baby if we didn't cooperate."

Mia went on to detail how she had been forced into the car with the Beast's men and had moved into the building they saw them in.

The police officer nodded sympathetically, acknowledging the trauma Mia had endured.

"Thank you for sharing your story, Mrs Johnson. We'll do everything in our power to bring the Beast and his associates to justice. You and the baby are safe now. And we are really sorry about your loss."

The baby was given back to the mother, who hugged Mia in appreciation. "Thank you, Mia. I am really sorry about the things I said to you. I know I hurt you with what I did with Rick."

At the mention of Rick, they both started crying. Mia hugged her again and said she should take good care of young Rick.
