Chapter 110 Disaster in Pursuit

Chapter 110 Disaster in Pursuit
The pursuit of El Patrio had become a relentless race against time. With Roderick's last words echoing in their minds, Sergio, Claus, and Daniel knew they had to move quickly to catch up to the elusive criminal.

Their path led them to the outskirts of the city, where El Patrio's safe house was rumored to be. The journey was tense, each passing moment filled with anticipation and uncertainty. The night sky was shrouded in darkness, a fitting backdrop to their dangerous mission.

Sergio took the wheel of the van, his grip on the steering wheel tight. Claus and Daniel sat in the back, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of El Patrio or his men. They knew they had to remain vigilant; one wrong move could cost them their chance to apprehend the ruthless criminal.

As they approached the location of the safe house, Sergio slowed the van, opting for a more discreet approach. The area was quiet, and the only sounds were the rustling of leaves in the night breeze. They parked the van a short distance away and proceeded on foot, leaving the vehicle hidden in the shadows.

Claus checked his weapon, ensuring it was ready for action. "Remember," he whispered to his companions, "we need to take El Patrio alive.

Daniel nodded in agreement, his expression focused and determined. "Got it. But if it comes down to it, we won't hesitate to defend ourselves."

Sergio led the way, his senses heightened as they approached the safe house. The building was an unassuming structure, blending into the quiet neighborhood. It was the perfect place for El Patrio to lie low while planning his escape.

They reached the entrance, and Sergio signaled for Claus and Daniel to cover him as he cautiously pushed the door open. The darkness within was thick, and they proceeded with utmost care, moving silently through the building.

The rooms were empty, and it seemed as though El Patrio had cleared out in anticipation of their arrival. The safe house was a stark contrast to the opulence of the casino, a hidden sanctuary where the criminal had plotted his next move.

Claus whispered, "Spread out. Check every room. We need to be thorough."

They began to search the safe house room by room, their footsteps barely making a sound on the cold, tiled floors. Each empty room increased the tension in the air, leaving them with a sense of foreboding.

Finally, as they reached the last room, Sergio's keen instincts kicked in. He sensed movement, a shadowy figure lurking in the corner. Without hesitation, he raised his weapon, ready to confront the threat.

But when the figure stepped into the dim light, they were met with an unexpected sight. It was El Patrio, standing with his hands raised in surrender. His expression was one of defeat, his face marked with bruises from the earlier confrontation.

Claus, Daniel, and Sergio exchanged surprised glances. Had El Patrio given up willingly? Or was this some sort of trap?

El Patrio's voice was filled with resignation as he spoke, "You got me. I surrender."

As El Patrio stood there, his hands raised in surrender, an unsettling feeling settled over Sergio, Claus, and Daniel. They couldn't shake the sense that something was amiss, that El Patrio had an ulterior motive behind his surrender.

Claus, still wary, stepped forward, his weapon trained on El Patrio. "Don't think for a second that we trust you," he warned.

El Patrio merely offered a sly smile. "Trust? My dear Claus, trust is a luxury we can't afford in this line of work, wouldn't you agree?"

Daniel kept his eyes locked on El Patrio. "What's your game, El Patrio? Why surrender now?"

El Patrio's smile widened, revealing a hint of amusement. "Isn't it obvious? I've grown tired of the chase, and I've come to realize that a deal might be more advantageous for all parties involved."

Sergio, his instincts on high alert, decided to play along. "A deal, you say? What kind of deal are you proposing?"

El Patrio's tone remained measured, as if he was orchestrating this conversation to his advantage. "I have information, valuable information, that could be of great interest to you. Names, locations, secrets you've been searching for. All in exchange for my safety."

Claus scoffed, his distrust still apparent. "And who tells you we want information from you?"

El Patrio's gaze shifted to Claus, and he spoke with a hint of sincerity, or at least what appeared to be sincerity. "Because, my dear Claus, I've reached a point where self-preservation outweighs my loyalty to my former associates. The world has changed, and I must change with it. You make a deal so you will not be dealt with."

Sergio exchanged a wary look with Claus and Daniel. El Patrio's words were tantalising; unfortunately, they did not need his information but him. The team exchanged tense glances; they decided to pretend to be caught in El Patrio's web of manipulation.

"How do we get this information?" Claus asked.

"You can get it right now. Just follow me. You can check. I am not in any way armed." El Patrio said, trying to convince them. Claus scoffed, now certain that El Patrio was up to something. He signaled that they follow him, but he remained vigilant.

El Patrio's compliance had taken them by surprise, but they remained cautious. As he walked to where he promised to show them information with his hands raised, a weary smile crossed his bruised face.

Claus, Daniel, and Sergio exchanged wary glances but cautiously approached him. They kept their weapons trained on El Patrio, ready for any sudden moves.

"You're not going to resist?" Claus asked, his voice filled with skepticism.

El Patrio's laughter was unexpected. It echoed through the room, a sinister sound that sent shivers down their spines. "Resist? Why would I resist when I've already won?"

Confusion clouded their expressions as El Patrio's laughter continued. He gestured toward the technological equipment behind them. They all looked in that direction

He entered swiftly into an elevator door on the far wall, one that they had overlooked in their haste and admiration of the other technological equipment. In one swift motion, El Patrio pressed a series of buttons on a hidden panel. The doors closed before they could turn, and the elevator began to ascend.

Sergio frowned, realizing that this was a technology-based elevator—a new addition to the safe house that none of them had encountered before but had heard El Patrio talk about before.

"You see, gentlemen," El Patrio taunted, "I'm the only one who knows my way around this place. And now, I'm going to show you how I've outsmarted you."

Claus, Daniel, and Sergio rushed toward the elevator, but it was too late. El Patrio had locked them out, leaving them standing in the room, dumbfounded.

The criminal's laughter echoed from within the elevator as it ascended to another apartment above them. They watched helplessly as he outsmarted them once again.

"He played us," Daniel muttered, frustration evident in his voice. Sergio clenched his fists, his anger simmering. "We can't let him get away."

Sergio's mind raced as he considered their options. "There must be a way to stop him.”

In a second, it occurred to Claus that almost all technological appliances used electrical supply. It is an elevator and can definitely not work without electricity.

“Shit!”
