CHAPTER 064

CHAPTER 064
»JARVIS POINT OF VIEW»

A whine vacated my lips as my eyes unhurriedly fluttered open. I felt a pounding, my cranium jabbing, and it felt awful. My hand clapped over my forehead while my eyes shut and reopened. What happened? The question hazed my senses while slowly, my vision cleared, and my eyes widened as I took in my surroundings. How did I get here?!

I was surrounded by nothing. The space was empty, just an enormous room with white walls and a white floor, while I was resting at the corner, my body leaning against the wall. What in heaven’s name happened? Again, I implored, but the question went unanswered. I stared at the door a bit away from me. I bit my bottom lip as I tried to lift myself, but ended up falling back; black dots suddenly took over my sight, and circles swirled.

A weak groan slipped out of me as I pressed the back of my head harder against the wall, trying to steady the spinning world.

Another sensitive wail left my lips as a stinging sensation came from my nape. Slowly, my hand went over it, and my eyes widened as I felt a bandage. How did that get there? Was I injured? Why couldn’t I seem to remember anything?

But suddenly, everything came rushing back, hitting me with a force. I gasped.

I recalled being left alone by Levi. I remembered the helplessness that I felt, the loneliness, and the betrayal, and then I felt a tap on my shoulder, and when I wheeled around, I was slammed from behind, and everything went black from there. Why?

I didn’t recall offending anyone. Why did the person drag me here? Was this kidnapping? But most importantly, why couldn’t I move my body? I tried again, but something weighed me down. I could barely feel my lower body; it was numb.

Panic slowly crept into my chest as I looked down at my legs, willing them to move. Nothing happened. Lazily, I sighed deeply, deciding to just rest against the wall and not try to panic. I needed to get my strength back and get the fuck out of here. Slowly, my eyes shut, and I lost consciousness completely.

~~

The next time I opened my eyes was when a sudden bright light glared harshly at me, and I grunted and turned my head away from the light, but the sound of rushing steps had me reeling my head back in confusion, and my eyes widened at who I saw. I couldn’t stop the name from slipping past my lips in a light whisper.

“Levi?”

What was he doing here?

My question went unanswered. I watched Levi rush over to me, instantly squatting to my level and wrapping his arms around me. I tried not to wince as my injury brushed against the wall.

I blinked repeatedly, trying so hard to understand what was going on, but only succeeded in inviting an awful headache that made my head feel so explosive. A moan instantly escaped my lips while Levi pulled away and cupped my cheeks, his eyes scanning my face before his brown eyes met mine along the way. He gulped while I just stared, dumbfounded.

His orbs held worry, sorrow, guilt, and regret. It was pointless feeling that much when he seemed to be responsible for my lack of attention.

“I was so scared,” he breathed out, leaning forward and pressing his forehead against mine, his warm breath mixed with something toxic fanning against my face. Had he been drinking?

He pulled back and gave me a peck on my forehead and an assuring smile. “Let’s get you out of here,” he announced, and I nodded, suddenly being unable to form any words while my mind circulated with millions of unanswered questions—like why the hell was life being unfair to me?

I felt as he slipped one hand under my knees and the other on my nape. I flinched when his hand brushed my wound, but he didn’t seem to notice as he lifted me without effort and carried me out of the white space.

I nearly purred as we stepped outside, and the fresh breeze brushed against my dry skin. A heavy sigh left me as I realized I could now breathe.

He took us over to his car, helped me with my seat belt, and drove off.

~~

We arrived at his flat a few minutes later and he carried me to his bedroom and laid me down on the bed tenderly while he sat beside me and took hold of my hand, gripping it tightly and fondling it as if he were afraid to let go, as if I would disappear, while he stared at me with his warm eyes filled with concern.

“Is there anything I should get you?”

Why wasn’t he asking how I landed myself there? How did he know I was there in the first place?

“How did you know I was there?” I suddenly got back my ability to form words, but the words left my mouth emotionlessly.

“Jarvis, you were gone for the whole night. I was getting worried, especially when Mom asked about you. I had to visit your university, but you were not there. I received a text from you this morning; you said I should go there.” As he finished, his grip tightened, but he frowned. “What were you doing there?”

I sighed and looked away. Whoever dragged me there must have contacted Levi with my phone. Was it kidnapping? What games were they trying to play?

“I didn’t contact you, Levi. Someone attacked me and dragged my unconscious form there, and the same person contacted you, I believe,” I told him, and his mouth dropped.

“What?” He choked out, and I nodded, my eyes meeting his again.

“I woke up there. I don’t know who attacked me.”

“Who could have done that?” His voice rose, and I shrugged, dragging myself up as I sat straight, but my lower body was still numb. I could barely move my legs. What did that person do to me?

“Are you hurt anywhere?” Levi shot up, immediately putting my shirt up, but I winced when my head hit the wall, and this time he noticed as he lowered my head, and I gasped.

“It hurts like a bitch; it must look awful.”

“We should report this to the police.”

I instantly shook my head. “That would be pointless. I have no proof that I was attacked, and I'm sure the person must have gotten rid of my phone already,” I voiced, averting my gaze away from him. I didn’t feel like looking at him, not after recalling how he tore my heart into two.

He noticed and took hold of my hand. I tried not to pay attention to the sparks that touched my skin from his touch.

"I—I know I messed up, but I'm sorry. I was frustrated and scared of what the world would think. What mom and dad would do. Everything was overwhelming for me, and I took it out on you.”

I took my hand away from his hold. My gaze went everywhere but at him, my heart clenching painfully beneath my chest.

“And you think I wasn’t hurting, and you made it worse by dumping the blame on me, Levi. You made me feel awful about myself.”

“You’ve got to understand, it wasn’t normal. People would never accept our relationship.”

Sharply, my eyes went to meet his.

“We dated for a year, Levi. We had never cared, but I guess you’re right. It was my fault for being delusional, and I'm sorry, but this time, I will be the one ending it. I refuse to suffer any longer.”

I was tired of being the one who keeps pushing. Tired of being the desperate one.
