Chapter 147 RH NULL II
“Eva is RH null,” General Edward who had been quiet spoke.
“Yes she is, I remember the doctor telling us that when she was born,” Kiara added.
Eva’s head snapped to her parents then back to the doctor. “Take mine, you can take all of it, just save my daughter, she is my lifeline. All I have,” she sobbed harder.
“We will do our best,” the doctor stretched out her hand. “This way please,” indicating the way.
“I want to see her,” Maverick told the doctor,
The doctor turned to him. “You can’t see her right now, she is prone to infection since the injury isn’t healing,”
“There should be a way to see my daughter,” Maverick eyes shot daggers at the doctor.
He swallowed hard. “I will arrange for you to see her through the observation window, for her safety it’s best you don’t go any closer,”
Eva spun to Maverick with her tears stained face. “You had better not set one foot outside this hospital. If you do, I swear I’ll tell Avi exactly how much you hate her and how you’ve never wanted her.” she threatened.
“She’ll know you chose your whores over her”
Maverick’s jaw tightened so hard a muscle ticked in his cheek. Her statement cracked something in him.
He came closer, grabbed her and pulled her to the nearest wall. “It was you wasn’t it?” His eyes blazed with accusation.
The hallway fell silent, Kiara gasped, Edwards face darkened. The doctor stood shocked.
“Me..?What are you talking about Maverick,” Eva asked him.
“Don’t mess with me, Evangel. Where were you two nights ago?” Maverick held her stare like it could dig a hole into her darkest secrets.
"At least I wasn’t someplace having an extramarital affair like you,” she said. “Listen Maverick I have had enough of your rubbish and I won’t take it anymore—”
His grip on her wrist tightened.“I don’t care what you take or can’t take. Answer me!”
Eva winced.
“I don’t know what you are asking about. Let me go,” she snapped. “OUR child needs us now more than ever,”
Maverick searched her face for the lie.
“Maverick, why are you holding your wife like that? ” Eleanor asked sharply. “Where is Havilah?”
General Richard and Eleanor came right in time to witness the odd atmosphere that was created in the hallway.
“What is going on here,” Richard asked.
Mavericks grip on Eva loosened for Eva to slip free.
“Is this how my daughter is treated in your home,” Edward asked disappointed. “I never expected this,”
Edward stepped forward towards Maverick. “Since knowing her whereabouts is better than your child's life. She was with us at home!!!,”
The operation room opened again. A nurse rushed out.
“Doctor!! Her blood level is dropping rapidly, she could go into shock and become brain dead!!”
The hallway scattered into tension.
Eva stood frozen color drained from her face. It wasn’t supposed to go like this. She couldn’t lose Havilah. Never.
“I’m sorry but we can’t stall this anymore. We need the blood transfusion ASAP” he moved.
“A direct blood transfusion will be done since we are in a hurry. So you are coming with me.”
A shocked Eva was pulled into the theatre.
Five hours down. Through the observation, Maverick watched Avi lying on the table with doctors around her and lots of gauze filled with blood, his hand clenched by his side. He tried so hard to remember the last time he had spent with her. He didn’t seem to have a recollection. He stared at the watch she had given him.
Eva looked almost pale already.
The doctors were trying to stop the bleeding but it seemed futile.
He paced, raking his hand through his head.
“I don’t think these doctors know what they are doing— we should arrange for another—“
“Succesful,” he heard through the intercom.
They had stopped the bleeding.
He didn’t know he had been holding his breath for long. He sighed deeply.
“Maverick.” Kiara said coldly. You better be damn grateful and treat my daughter right. That little girl lying on that table? She’s your daughter. And my daughter risked her whole life to save her. So hear me good: if you ever and I mean ever pull that stunt you did back there, I swear you’ll regret it for the rest of your days.” She gave one piercing look, then turned and walked out of the observation room.
Edward followed quietly behind his wife, his fist clenched to the side.
“That,” Richard said, pointing towards the operating room. “Is how quickly things can turn. I will advise you to spend more time with your family,” he walked away.
Maverick kept mute, not responding to them. His eyes were down at the operating table at. But their words stabbed at his chest. He stared a little deeper at Eva as she had passed out due to how much blood she had given Havilah.
As he stood there lost in thoughts a woman entered. She was dressed as a cleaner, she had a black nose mask over her nose and a mop in her hand. Her eyes kept flicking to the door as she continued to move closer towards Maverick.
Her eyes burned with hatred. She slipped her hand under her apron and held a knife. She was about to pull it out.
Maverick’s phone buzzed.
He pulled it out. The room temperature dropped.
